The Boy Next Door
Chapter 7
I'm sprinting as hard as I can to try and catch up to
James.
"SLOW POKE!" James yells behind him.
Was that some kind of American term?
Is it offensive?
"Excuse me?" I say putting my finger to his chest,
panting.
James just stares at me smiling.
"Do you want to go to the boardwalk? Go on some rides? Or we
can play some games if you are too... well, scared." James
puts his hands on my waist, smirking.
"Oh, no not at all. In fact, I predict you will be the one
who will be screaming like a girl on that giant
rollercoaster." I say pointing above me.
"Challenge accepted." He says, mimicking my accent.
In line for the rollercoaster, I had major regrets.
Did I really agree to this?!
I felt myself shaking, and James senses it.
"Are you okay? Like, seriously?" James asked, seeming
concerned.
"I guess so. I hate lines." I say avoiding his eye.
The short, dark-skinned man straps us in.
I feel James intertwine our fingers and he squeezes my hand
hard.
I close my eyes and James does the same.
By the time the ride is over James doesn't scream at all, but
he does squeeze my hand harder and harder the scarier the coaster
gets.
"Noah, you're white as a ghost. We should get some food
in you." James says putting me on his back.
Unfortunately, it was too late.
I jump down from James' back and I feel my food come back
up.
James stands there with his hand on my back asking people around
for help.
I could not be more embarrassed, and I feel tears forming.
A nice lady, who must have worked for the park or something,
takes me to the bathroom and cleans me up.
I look hard in the mirror debating going out to see him, or to
just text him that I'm getting a ride from my mom.
I walk out, and James is sitting beneath a tree, on his
phone.
As I come closer, he gives me a smile and says, "Are you
okay?"
I say yes, and he takes my hand and we walk to the car.
I hate myself right now.
The Boy Next Door
Chapter 7
Waking up the next morning was hard.
It may just have been the fact that I didn't sleep for a
whole minute last night.
I lay awake in my bed hour after hour thinking about James.
Was he thinking about me too?
I quickly got ready and decided to ride my bike to school.
I hurried into the school doors and went to my locker.
I open my locker and about seven large textbooks come rushing for
my head.
I swiftly dodge them and get on the floor to pick them up.
I lock eyes with James from the end of the hallway.
He comes running over to help me pick them up.
"Why does it seem like every time that I see you, you're
on the ground?" He smiles softly.
"Sorry, I'm clumsy." I say picking up my history
book.
James takes the books and puts them in my locker neatly.
"Maybe we should do something after school today? Maybe get
to know you a bit better." James says walking me to
class.
My hearts skips a beat.
"Oh. Erm, sure. That would be great." I manage to get
out.
James raises his eyebrow.
"You seem hesitant." he stops walking.
"What? No, I want to join you." I say, feeling awfully
out of place.
"Ok, well we can talk more in math class." James wraps
his arms around my petite body.
Did James just hug me?
Has he forgotten about yesterday?
Math class came slowly.
In fact, the whole day after that seemed like it was in slow
motion.
I sat in a seat in the back with an open desk next to it.
James was late.
About halfway through class, James rushes in.
He is given a tardy slip and sits down next to me.
I shoot him a look.
"Sorry, I'm late," James says, handing me his
phone.
"Put your number in." he commands.
I put my number in, curious to find out why he was so late.
Just let it go.
He asked you out, now just have fun.
The Boy Next Door
Chapter 6
I grabbed my coat and headed for the bus.
Ron was in front of me so I tried to catch up with him.
As I tried to catch him, my legs flew out from under me, and the
next thing I knew, my face was in the asphalt.
The whole bus was laughing.
I could barely get up, trying to hold in tears.
I felt a pair of heavy hands on my back.
Someone slowly lifted me off the ground from behind.
I regained my balance and turned around.
I was looking into a pair of gorgeous, ocean blue eyes.
"Are you okay? You took a hard fall. I think your nose
is bleeding." The boy said softly.
"Oh wow, this is embarrassing." I squeaked.
He pulled out an extra shirt that he had in his backpack and
handed it to me.
"Here. Take this and wipe your face. Its an old warmup
football shirt, you can keep it." He said sweetly.
"Thank you so much. Seriously." I said, mesmerized.
He took my hand and led me on the bus.
"Sit with me." He said, almost commanding.
I sat down and he gave me a warm smile.
"My name is James. James Baker. I think you're in
my math class." James said with his amazing, deep yet soft
voice.
"Hello James. It is really a pleasure to meet you. Thanks
again for massively helping me out." I said shaking.
"No need to thank me. Noah right?" James grinned.
"Yeah, and that's my brother Ron. We are from
England." I said pointing to Ron who found a seat alone a
few rows up.
"Yeah, I talked to Ron the first day of school. He's
super cool. He says nice things about you." James said
looking out the window.
"Are we talking about the same Ron?" I said
shocked.
James snickered and nodded.
"So you live a house down from me. That's pretty
cool." James nearly winked at me.
"Why did I not see you get on the bus at our stop
Monday?" I said wondering.
"Oh, well i got on the bus and we were waiting at your house
for a while. You might want to work on your timing." James
chuckled and then smiled at me.
I threw him a playful punch in the right shoulder and smiled
back.
"It's a shame the only class we have together is
math." James said genuinely.
"Hey, just wondering but where were you yesterday?" I
said more harsh than intended.
James stared out the window panicked, yet blankly.
Oh crap. What the heck have I just done?
I tried making things less awkward.
"Erm, hold that thought." I said as I took out my phone
and called Megan.
James remained looking out the window.
"Hello." Megan answered.
"Erm, yes. Megan. That thing you asked me about, is it uhm,
is it... uhm-"
"Is what, what?" Megan interrupted.
"Oh I was just making sure that I turned the stove off when
I cooked those eggs this morning." Nice save.
"You had biscuits, Noah." Megan said, confused and
annoyed at the same time.
He better not be able to hear her through the phone.
"Okay good. So uhm, thanks Meg. Love you!" I said
hanging up.
We pulled up to the school and everyone got off.
"Bye!" I yelled to James.
James smiled awkwardly and then ran off.
Why must I ruin everything?
The Boy Next Door
Chapter 5
Lunch time came around and I was already shifting awkwardly in my
chair.
"Uhm, do you have to pee or something?" Amber said in a
hushed tone.
"Nah, I just uh, I have a test next period and I didn't
study. That's all." I lied through me teeth.
"You have a test? On the second day of school? Good try.
Spit it out." Amber's deep dark eyes glistened.
Yeah, this was a perfect time to ask where James is.
"Alright fine. I've just been curious where James is
today. Is he sick?" I asked.
"Oh. I didn't even notice. Guess I'm immune."
Amber said playing with her peas.
"Immune? What do you mean by this? Is he out a lot?
Why?" I said trying not to sound too confused.
"Woah calm down there. And uh yeah he's out all the
time. Like every other day to be honest. His friends say he had a
drinking problem. But I don't know why that would make him
not come to school." Amber said throwing her fork in the
garbage.
My heart teared a bit.
"What?! You mean he could be home right now completely
snockered?" I said still shaking.
"Hehehe. 'snockered.' Sorry. And also some people
say they have seen him do drugs at like parties and stuff but you
can't believe everything you hear."
I couldn't take it anymore.
How could such a beautiful boy do something so horrible that
could ruin his life?
After school, I went into Ron's room.
Ron had music blasting and he was looking at his computer screen
intensely.
"Ron. Ron! RONALD!" I screamed over the music.
Ron almost fell off the bed, and turned the music down.
"What in the bloody hell Noah? Are you trying to kill
me?" Ron spat.
"Do you know a boy named James?" I said avoiding eye
contact.
"Uh. Yeah, actually. He's quite a cheeky chappy now that
you mention him." Ron smirked.
"Are you two friends? And why is he cheeky?" I said
looking around his room.
"Yeah, but he was out today. Yesterday he was like rating
all the girls in math and he was drawing two girls snogging on
his paper." Ron said chuckling.
"Oh. Well alright then. A girl I met just wanted to know.
Thanks." I lied.
But he was so darn fit.
I laid in my bed wondering what in the world was wrong with that
fit as hell boy.
I decided to look him up on Facebook.
I texted Amber to see what his surname was.
I typed in "James Peterson" in the Facebook search
bar.
What a beautiful name I thought to myself.
Like I guessed, all his pictures were gorgeous.
I decided that I had to friend him, even though he might not know
me.
If he were in tomorrow, I would introduce myself to
him.
I just couldn't last another day.
Don't lose faith in james lovies! :} xx
The Boy Next
Door
Chapter
4
The next morning, I woke up in a
really good mood.
Instinctively, I looked at my
phone.
I actually had a
text.
Shocked, I pressed on
it.
It was from Amber.
It read, “Hey, sorry
I didn’t give you my number yesterday, but I got yours from
your brother. So now we can talk wherever we are! YAYAYAY!
:D”
I giggled a bit.
Were all Americans so
energetic?
I quickly got ready for
school.
Reaching for some lip-gloss, I
knocked over a picture frame that I had on my desk.
It was of Jared and
I.
The picture brought back
memories and I began to
daydream about all the fun we
had.
Megan calling me to hurry up
brought me back to earth.
I put on a more casual outfit
than yesterday, but I played up the makeup, keeping in mind I may
be speaking to James today.
Ron had been waiting for me and
seemed to be in a bad mood.
We got on the bus as I braced
myself to look into James’ eyes.
Say hi to
him I thought
to myself.
As we got to the bus, he was
nowhere to be found.
Confused, I chose a seat, and
Ron followed in.
Ron let out a very pronounced,
overly dramatic sigh as he sat down.
“What’s up Ron? Did
something happen yesterday?” I asked genuinely.
“No.” Ron
protested.
“Come on Ron I’m not
an idiot, now stop being cheeky and tell me what’s
wrong.” I said looking into his hurt eyes.
“It’s a girl. Her
name is Samantha. She’s a junior like us but she has a big
senior boyfriend. I think she’s amazing, Noah. How do I get
her attention?” he said emotionally.
“Oh wow Ron. Try and talk
to her. Give her one of your winning smiles.” I said
cheerfully.
Ron blushed a bit.
I was good at making people
blush.
We got off the bus and I looked
around for James.
I gave Ron a big kiss on the
cheek before we went to our separate classes.
Ron was much smarter than me, and he makes sure I know
it.
Ron wiped his cheek, smiled, and
ran off.
I saw Amber waving at me and I
ran towards her.
Yeah, she’ll know where
James is.
I hope.
Sorry not much happened in this chapter but I promise it will
pick up!
I am moving really quick on this story, thanks for reading
:)
The Boy Next
Door
Chapter3
My heart sank down into my
stomach as I looked at his face.
He was looking down into a book
that I couldn’t see the name of.
We got the same introduction
that every teacher gave us.
“Children, these are your
two new classmates. Tell the class your names.” The teacher
commanded.
“Erm, hello my name is
Ron.” Ron said shyly.
“And, yes, my name is
Noah.” I added.
“Dude! They’re
British! Sweet!” A boy with dark long hair called out from
the back of the classroom.
I could feel myself turning red
at this point.
I could feel the blonde
boy’s eyes beating on me like lasers.
I started to sweat a
bit.
Why was I getting this
way?
“You can take your seats
Ron and, Noah did you say it was?” The teacher asked
emotionless.
“Yes, Noah.” I said
quietly, almost mumbling.
Julia smiled and nodded at us as
she left.
I took an open seat next to a
girl with dark hair and tan skin.
She smiled at me as I sat
down.
“Hi Noah. My name is
Amber.”
“Oh erm, hello
Ambah.”
Amber laughed.
“I love how you say my
name! Say it again!” She said trying to catch her
breath.
“Ambah” I said,
smiling.
Class went fairly quickly, but
it may have helped that I was staring at the boy the whole
class.
As the bell rang, Amber pulled
on my arm.
“Noah. I totally saw you
checking out James.” Amber said
“James? Who exactly is
this James?” I played dumb.
Amber pointed to the beautiful
boy with blue eyes.
“You’re blushing.
Yep it’s official. You like him!” Amber said
smiing.
“I don’t even know
the bloody boy!” I said feeling warm.
“Yep. Okay. Suure.”
She said sarcastically.
She was right,
though.
I went to bed thinking of no one
else.
I had to talk to
this boy tomorrow.
The Boy Next
Door
Chapter 2
I
quickly looked away from a boy with scruffy, dirty blonde hair
and bright blue eyes looking intensively at me.
This boy looked like a cross between Zac
Efron and Chord Overstreet.
I
hadn’t realized that I had stopped in my tracks until Ron
shoved me to keep moving.
We
sat in the back of the bus in an open seat.
“Why did you stop moving Noah? Did you
see somebody you might fancy maybe?” Ron asked dumbly with
a smirk on his face.
“Just shut up Ron.” I
snapped.
Ron
snickered.
The
bus ride was painfully long; especially having to sit next to the
parasite my parents call their son.
As
we pulled up to the school the bus unloaded
quickly.
Ron
sprang up, but I was too nervous to move.
“What’s wrong?” Ron asked,
almost kindly.
“Oh u-uh nothing. Guess I’m just
nervous.” I responded lightly.
Ron
patted me on the back and moved in front of me.
“Eh, don’t worry, I’ll go
first.” Ron said coolly.
As
we got off the bus, kids watched.
Some kids gave friendly smiles, while
others, gave glares.
We
rushed into the office.
“So how was your flight, kids?”
The principal asked in his deep voice.
“Erm, I was quite long and boring, but
we are happy to be here now.” Ron said
sophisticatedly.
“Well you can follow Julia, right over
by that drinking fountain. She will help you find your classes
for today.” He said, pointing out the window into the
hallway.
Julia was a tall, blonde, girl wearing a
floral sundress.
“Hi!” Julia squealed as we
approached her.
“Hello.” Ron and I said in
sync.
“WOW! I love your accents! What are
your names and where are you from?” Julia said
perkily.
“My name is Noah and this is my
brother Ron. We are from Liverpool.” I
responded.
Julia looked at both of us
blankly.
“Liverpool? In the UK?” Ron
quickly added.
Julia started to stare at the floor, feeling
uncomfortable.
“England?” I said, almost
annoyed.
“OHH. GOT IT! Sorry guys I was totally
blanking out.” She said trying to cover
up.
Julia led Ron and I to our
classes.
It
was last period and Julia showed us to our last class,
math.
As
I walked through the door, there he was.
Blue-eyed boy.
The Boy Next
Door
Chapter
1
“Waffles, Noah?” my sister Megan called from
downstairs.
“Yeah that’s fine. Thank
you.” I called back.
I
was so tired from traveling last night.
We
had gotten back from the airport at 2:00 A.M.
We’ve just moved to LA all the way
from England.
I
had lived in Liverpool in the UK all my life.
We
had to move here because my older sister is an actress and begged
to come and get ‘discovered.’
It was so hard leaving all my friends,
and most of all, Jared.
Jared was my, going on two year,
boyfriend.
We started dating when we were
freshmen.
And
to be honest, I loved him.
“Seriously. Just get out of the bloody
bed already.” Ron mumbled coldly from outside my
door.
“Why don’t you make me
Ronald?” I responded flatly.
We
do not have the best relationship, Ron and I.
Maybe it is because we are twins and we are
constantly competing at who is the better half.
Ron
gets the girls, may I add.
I
don’t know why he wouldn’t; he has some serious good
looks.
Megan, on the other hand, is like my best
friend.
She
is two years older than me and has always been there to give me
the best advice when I needed it.
I
got up out of my new bed and went into the
bathroom.
I
carefully examined myself in the new, silver
mirror.
I
have really pale skin and brown eyes with speckles of
green.
I
fixed up my light brown, wavy hair and wiped my
eyes.
Me
and Ron looked a lot alike actually now looking at
myself.
I’ve been told I look a lot like Emma
Watson, which is funny because she plays Hermione in Harry
Potter and my twin’s name is Ron.
I
quickly took a shower and put on some clothes.
I
decided whether or not I should put on makeup or not for the
first day of school because I didn’t want to seem like a
try hard.
I
put on a bit of lip balm and a light coat of
mascara.
I
sprinted down the stairs and trip on the last step, my father
catching me.
“Now dear, I know you’re nervous
for your first day at your new school, but don’t go trying
to kill yourself on the stairs!” my father said in a
friendly voice.
I
gave him a warm smile and brushed past him.
I
grabbed the waffles off my plate and called for
Ron.
As
he came down the stairs I grabbed him and we headed for the
bus.
The
doors to the bus opened, and Ron and I climbed
on.
As
I browsed for an open seat, I caught eyes with a
face
that I would never
forget.
I am obviously new but i hope you like this story
and thank you for readinggg(:
