We're Growing Apart
were so focused on our future.
we never talk, never tell each other
our problems. we don't laugh at our
stupid inside jokes anymore,
we don't smile or wave at each other.
we don't cry over stupid
little boys together. i don't go to your house
anymore, & you're
never at mine. we don't make eye contact ,
we can't. we don't
stay up until 3 in the morning spilling
our hearts our each other
anymore, we don't even hang out. we both hate
bringing up our
past and our past together. we never have time to do
what friends
normally do. we may be growing apart,
focusing on our future,
because we need to start planning sometime.
we never talk,
because we were once best friends,
but we don't
resist
talking to each other, more so resent it.
we don't tell each other
our problems, because we always had the
same advice. we
don't bring up our memories,
jokes, or past because the past
is the past. we don't cry together,
because we've aged, we
don't need each others sympathy or pity.
we don't do half
the things we used to, because
things have changed. we're
not who we used to be. we're
different. we've realized we
weren't really going to be best friends forever,
like we
had
always said.
we knew it was inevitable we might only
last
for the time we had before our
teenage years ended.
we
realized many things, changed,
and eventually sunk
into
reality,
knowing things are different, and
we may have
grown apart in some
ways, but in some
other
ways
