Niall Horan Fancfiction
Chapter 1: Tonight's Sky
It took forever to get
ready. Perfect outfit, perfect dress, perfect hair, perfect
makeup...Ben would have freaked if he's seen you. But then
again, Ben wouldn't be here tonight. It was your night out
with the guys, with Louis (your cousin), Zayn, Harry, Liam, and
Niall.
Louis had pulled up at 8:00 on the dot, hollering your name
through the slightly open front door, honking the horn and
waiting impatiently for you to float out in a pale blue casual
dress, flip-flops, and sunglasses, even though the sun was by
then slipping into the horizon, its orangy glow illuminating
Louis' dark red convertible.
"Hey," you greeted him and Eleanor (his girlfriend) as
you slid in the backseat.
"You look nice," he had remarked, Eleanor murmuring in
agreement.
"Thanks," you said and all was quiet on the way to
beach. It was the 4th of July and since the boys were on tour in
America they all decided to see the fireworks for a change, you
invited along. It was nice. You barely got to see Louis; as it is
he would only be staying around for a few weeks.
After a few minutes, the silence had become unbearable and El had
switched the radio on.
Immediately the familiar strains of "Baby you light up
my world like nobody else, the way that you flip your hair makes
me overwhelmed but when you smile at the ground it ain't hard
to tell, you don't know, oh oh, you don't know
your--" had come on, but before the song could finish Louis
quickly changed the station.
"Not that song, again," he laughed
playfully.
Before long, you had reached the beach.
It had seemed so enjoyable in the car but not so much right now.
The loud popping noises and flashing colors of the fireworks were
a bit annoying at the moment. Louis, Zayn, and Liam had brought
their girlfriends, and Harry had met up with an old friend here
so you and Niall were alone. But almost as soon as you set foot
onto the sand girls on the beach recognized my companion, ignored
me, and began squealing and shrieking at the prospect of seeing
Niall Horan. And so they had come, each more beautiful than the
next, asking for hugs and autographs, etc. So alone you sit,
wiggling your toes in the sand as you watch Niall flirt and have
fun with the flawless girls in flawless bikinis, who were simply
perfect all around.
So much for fun.
You almost wish Ben, your overprotective boyfriend, were here.
Almost, but not quite. Things had been weird the past month or so
with Ben, ever since Louis had come to visit you in America,
along with the other guys from One Direction in between concerts
on tour. You aren't really sure whether you even really have
feelings for Ben anymore. Sure, he's cute, but a bit too
forceful and demanding at times.
You sigh, and try to concentrate on the flashing sparks lighting
up tonight's sky, but you just aren't into it. You look
sideways at Niall, still mingling among the fans. Oddly enough,
you even feel a small twinge of....what is that? Jealousy? But
that is ridiculous! Niall is like a brother to you. Nevertheless,
you stagger to your feet and turn to leave, to walk back for
Louis' car and listen to the radio maybe. Anything to get
away from the wild shrieks of the girls prancing around Niall,
who looked extremely handsome. Strange, you didn't think you
should be noticing that.
But before you even take but two steps forward, a hand catches
your elbow. It's Niall.
"Where are you going, (insert your name here)?" he
asks. You avoid his eyes, looking past him at the waves crashing
to the beach.
"Somewhere else," you reply, still not meeting his
eyes.
Just at that moment the announcer blares on a megaphone loud
enough to be heard miles around, "Ladies and gentlemen, and
now for the grand finale!"
The silence is suddenly sliced in a million pieces by the
tremendous popping noises from above.
"But I want to watch fireworks with you," he whispers,
tugging slightly on your arm. You can't help but feel a
little bit dizzy. He's standing so close and he smells like
seawater and sunshine...
The fireworks pop up above loudly, but they don't seem to be
very relevant at this moment.
Nervously, you take a step back, your foot sinking into the sand,
but Niall just steps forward again, closing whatever space that
is left between you.
"I...I want to watch them with you too," you murmur, so
softly that you aren't even sure if he heard.
In answer, he presses his lips against yours. Surprised, you pull
back slightly, but then decide otherwise. His lips are slightly
rough, but gentle too. You are faintly aware of the fireworks
above, of the waves crashing against the rocks, of all those
other girls staring, but nothing seems to bother you.
For a split second you think of Ben, but then quickly let your
attention move back to Niall. Who cares about Ben
anyways? Nothing can ruin this perfect
moment.
