Long, I know, but please read! (:
For Christmas, my friend got me a half of a friendship necklace
that has "best" on one and "friends" on the
other. It also has the yin and yang symbol in two pieces on our
necklaces. I have yin (mostly black) and she has yang (mostly
white) and I found out what it represents. It was so
interesting.
The most traditional view is that yin represents the feminine,
being soft, cool, calm, introspective, and healing, while the
yang is masculine: being hot, hard, energetic, moving, and
occasionally agressive. Another view is yin being night and yang
being day.
I thought about this for a while and realised, she'd
unintentionally given me a necklace that represents me in an
unspoken way. The black on my necklace (yin, feminine) is my
looks. And the white dot (masculine, yang) is my personality. (I
can be quite agressive.)
And hers represents her too. The white on her necklace
(masculine, yang) is her looks. And the black dot
(feminine, yin) is her personality. (She's actually very
girly.)
She got us necklaces that define us without even realising. SHE
IS AWESOME.
