Jesse
stared lovingly at the baby boy in his hands, Jake. He was
a week old and already had everyone wrapped around his
little finger. The baby clutched Jesses pinky finger with
his tiny hand.
“Smart, making Jesse
practise with my baby before this one comes along,”
Ryan said, gesturing towards my stomach. Jake started
crying and his mum, Crystal hurried in the room.
“Crys, relax,”
Ryan soothed Crystal. Crystal was still getting used to
being a mother, I mean her baby was only a week. Ryan,
Jesse and I all had no idea what we were doing so we were
of little to no help.
“C'mon, Andi, we
should get going,” Jesse said. We said our goodbyes
and walked out of Ryan and Crystals house. Ryan and Crystal
got married two year ago and those two are so in love. When
Crystal told Ryan she was pregnant, for the next week, Ryan
went around telling everyone and anyone that his wife was
pregnant, even strangers.
Jesse and I walked to our car which was parked right
outside, his hand was in mine and he was playing with my
wedding ring. He kissed my cheek before opening the
door.
“Ladies first,”
Jesse said, grinning. I rolled my eyes, getting in the car.
Jesse and I got married when I was 23 and he was 24. That
day was magical, everything I had thought it would be.
three years later, here we were expecting a baby in a
couple of months. My hands went to my stomach as we drove
home and I smiled as my baby kicked.
We soon were inside of our house. “I love you,”
Jesse said, randomly.
“I love you too,”
I told him without any hesitation. The sparks, the
fireworks, they never left.
“I can't wait until
he is born,” Jesse said rubbing my
stomach.
“She is going
to be perfect,” I murmured. We had been disagreeing a
lot about the gender of our baby and even though we could
find out if our baby was a girl or a boy, we decided not
to. Speaking about babies, I now have an eight year old
sister, Char. We got along real well and my family love
Jesse.
“He will
be,” Jesse said in a daze. He kissed me, his
lips forming into a smile against mine. After our kiss
ended, Jesse walked into the kitchen. “You
hungry?” he asked. Alec and Drake broke up and now,
Alec is with another guy called Liam. Alec and Liam came to
visit us a couple of months ago and we still
talk.
“Nope,” I
replied.
“Nope,” Jesse
mocked trying to copy my Australian accent by failing
miserably. His accent never got old, I would never
get sick of hearing it.
Diana and I spoke once more after the time at the movies
and there she confessed she never really liked me. She
labeled me as an attention seeker and said I
needed help with my problem which made no sense what so
ever. Every time I questioned her, she continued telling me
how I was an attention seeker and how all my other
'friends' agree. I found out that she had once
slept with my boyfriend when we were 16. The whole Diana
thing was really hard on me, it was weird to think that
this girl who you once shared all your secrets with could
be this mean and b/tchy.
Jesse saw that I was in deep thought and kissed me, deeply
and passionately. His tongue licked my bottom lip, asking
for entrance and I happily gave it to him. After a few
moments he pulled away and put his forehead against mine.
“Sometimes I'm scared that this is all just a
dream,” he told me. “Any regrets?” he
asked.
“None,” I
replied. “If I had the choice to go back and change
everything, I wouldn't.”

Several minutes later, Jesse and I pulled
apart. Both of us were breathless. “I missed
you,” I said.
“I missed you too, Andi.
Now c'mon, we don't want you to get sick.” We
got into a car which I'm assuming Jesse
rented.
“So, how long are you
here for?” I asked.
“Ryan and I are moving
here,” he told me and I felt a burst of
happiness.
“No
joke?”
“No joke,” he
promised. I smiled, happily and Jesse chuckled. We got to
Jesses hotel room and I asked Jesse were Ryan was.
“He's probably with Crystal,” Jesse wiggled
his eyebrows.
“I need to tell you
something...” I said. I better get this over and done
with before I chicken out.
“What?”
“Iloveyou,” I said
quickly.
“I can't understand
you,” Jesse teased.
“Yes you
can!”
“Please?” Jesse
pouted.
“I,” I said
slowly. “Love you.” Jesse smiled at me and I
almost thought he was going to tell me he didn't love
me but he said those words.
“I love you too.”
With that, Jesse placed his lips on mine and carried me to
his bed. That night, we stayed up just talking. Nothing
mattered and I loved that. We joked about things, spoke and
laughed. “You are so beautiful,” Jesse said,
kissing my temple and started tickling me.
“Stop it!” I
giggled.
“Nu-uh! Say 'Jesse
is a sexy beast and I love him'.”
“No! I will
never!” Jesse only tickled me more.
“Fine!”
“Say it,” Jesse
told me, a smile on his lips.
“Jesse is a sexy beast
and I love him!” Jesse stopped tickling me and kissed
me gently.
“Come on, lets go to
bed,” Jesse murmured. “You must be
exhausted.” I fell asleep rather quickly, it
wasn't exactly hard because I was in Jesse's arms.
The next morning I was woken up by Ryan laughing with a
girl. That girl was Crystal. When she saw me she wiggled
her eyebrows, suggestively. I winked back and she giggled,
going out on the balcony with Ryan.
“Jesse,” I said,
quietly. “Wake up.” He wouldn't wake up so
I kissed him and a few moments later, he kissed me
back.
“I could get used to
this,” he said.
“Me too,” I told
him honestly.
It was weird to think the only reason I was with Jesse
right now was because I went on
Omegle.
"N-Nathan,"
I stuttered.
I felt like the biggest b/tch ever.
Screw that, I was the biggest b/tch ever.
“I am so
sorry!”
Nathan pulled me away from Jesse and said, “Sorry?
Andi, you have nothing to be sorry. You love him, I
wouldn't want to come between you two.”
“I don't
lo-”
I love him.
I love Jesse.
The realisation hit me like a ton of bricks, though my new
discovery didn't make anything any better.
“See,” Nathan said quietly.
“I am really sorry! I
didn't mean for this to happen – not like
this.”
“Do you want to know the
truth, Andi?” I want to say 'no' but I
blurted a yes. “I was looking for a reason to break
up with you.”
“W-why?” I
stammered.
“I knew about Jesse and
I knew you still had feelings for him. I would never come
first, no matter what.”
“I wasn't using you
Nathan! I-I really do like you but in a friends
way.”
“Don't worry,”
Nathan hugged me. “I think I like you in the
only-friends way.”
Why was he being so cool with this?
“You're going to
make some girl really happy,” I told him, honestly. I
walked back to Jesse with Nathan though him and Diana were
in a deep conversation.
“Why can't you just
except that for once, a guy is interested in me?”
Diana hissed. “I like a guy, you take him! I liked
Jesse first.” I frowned at Diana, why was
she acting this way?
“Diana,
I-I-”
“You
what?”
“You're a wh/re,
thats what. I don't even know why we're best
friends! You're just a lying sl/t.” With that she
stalked away, I went to follow her. No matter what, she was
my best friend but Nathan stopped me.
“Don't you dare,
she's not worth it.” Nathan paused, looking at
Jesse and me. “I think I'm going to leave, Jesse
can you take her home?” Nathan questioned.
“Yes,” he replied
straight away. “Why is your boyfriend leaving?”
Jesse asked when Nathan left.
“We're not together
anymore,” I murmured.
“Oh.”
“I'll find my own
ride, go find your girlfriend.” I walked outside to
find it pouring rain but it didn't bother me. I was
crying as it hit me. I had just lost my best friend and the
guy I loved probably didn't love me.
“Andi!” Jesse
called and came in front of me.
“Leave me alone!”
I yelled. The rain poured around us and I glared at him. He
glared back. “I hate you,” I said through
gritted teeth.
“If you hated me
you'd leave, Andrea.” I didn't say anything
for it was true. “What would you do if I kissed you
right now?” he asked.
My head was telling me to tell him that I'll slap
him but instead I said, “Kiss you back.”

"Andi!" Diana yelled, running towards
me.
“Yeah?” I
replied.
“Do you and Nathan want
to go on a double date with Jesse and I?”
No.
“When?” I
responded.
“Friday
night.”
“I think I'm
busy,” I lied.
“Oh,” she
replied, glumly and I felt bad.
“How 'bout I call
Nathan up and see?” She grinned, automatically. Like
I said, I called Nathan and he answered after the first
ring.
“Hey babe,” he
said.
“Hi... Nathan, what do
you say about going on a double date?” I
questioned.
“That'd be cool,
with who?” Ever since graduation, Nathan has not been
found of Jesse and the only thing he ever said about him
were bad things.
“Jesse and
Diana.” Jesse and Diana went on a date a few days ago
and since then, they were always together and it killed. It
hurt way more then it should.
“No.”
“C'mon... Diana
really wants us to go and I would feel so bad if we said
no!” I could just imagine Nathan rolling his
eyes.
“Fine... I have to go.
I'll speak to you later, the boss is calling.” I
hanged up the phone and Diana looked at me.
“So?”
“He said yes,” I
told her.
“Yah! Jesse is going to
be so happy.” Soon Friday came and
I was dressed in a pair of black jeans and a green top with
a black cross on it. Nathan kept whispering sweet nothings
in my ear as we drove to the movies. All week I had been
dreading it and now, I just wanted the movies to end. When
Nathan and I got to the movies, we spotted Jesse and Diana
against one of the walls. Diana's face lit up when she
saw us but Jesses darkened.
“Hey!” Diana
said.
“Hi,” I smiled.
After we said our hellos and bought 4 tickets for
Paranormal Activity 4, Nathans phone rang and he went
outside to take it and Diana left to go to the bathroom
leaving Jesse and I alone.
Alone.
“So...” my voice
trailed off.
“So,” Jesse
mocked.
“You don't have to
be a d/ck,” I told him.
“Why?” Jesse
asked, ignoring my statement.
“Why what?” I
frowned.
“Why are you
dating him?”
“Because- because I
like him.”
“Did you ever
like me?” Jesse asked with so much
vulnerability in his voice.
“Of
course!”
“Do you still like
me?”
“Of course!” I
repeated without thinking.
It just so happened that Nathan arrived back at that
moment, hearing what I said.

"You
have to see him!" my friend, Jamie said. "He is
so gorgeous, like model gorgeous."
“Where is he?” I
questioned, interested to see this guy who was at our
graduation. All the girls were talking about
him.
“He was with Diana,
Kirsty and Crystal before,” she told me as Nathan
wrapped his arms around me. Nathan had been my boyfriend
for a little over a month and he was amazing.
As guilty as it made me feel, at the back of my mind, Jesse
was always there.
Nathan put his lips on mine and it only took me a few
moments before I kissed him back. Several seconds later, we
broke apart. “You're so beautiful,” he
murmured.
“Andi, Andi, there he
is!” Jamie exclaimed and I looked to were she was
looking and saw him.
Jesse.
I sucked my breath in. “Isn't he hot?” she
hissed.
“Y-yeah...” my
voice trailed off.
“Hey! Boyfriend
here!” Nathan teased.
“Awh, baby! You know
you're the only one for me.” He kissed my
forehead and held my hand. “Lets go see Diana.”
Nathan and I walked hand in hand to Diana and when we
arrived, we saw Jesse saying something to Ryan and
Crystal.
“Andi! Look, it's
Jesse!” Diana cried out.
“You know him?”
Nathan whispered into my ear.
“Something along those
lines.”
“Jesse, Ryan, you
remember Andi, right?” Diana said, putting a hand on
Jesses shoulder and I felt a pang of jealousy run through
me.
“Yeah, we only saw each
other in America,” Ryan said, smiling kindly at me. I
looked at Diana and Crystal but they didn't seem to
notice that I lied. He gave me a hug. His eyes said
different and he whispered in my ear, “You said you
wouldn't.” I knew what he meant.
I said I wouldn't break Jesses heart.
“So, Andi, who's
this?” Ryan asked, looking at Nathan.
“Nathan,” I
replied.
“Her boyfriend,”
Nathan quickly said. I ran my hands through his blonde
locks but immediately stopped when I saw Jesse. I felt
guilty because I felt like I should be next to Jesse not
Nathan.
Why was he here?
“So, Jesse, I was
wondering if you wanted to go out tomorrow
night?”
Jesse replied, through gritted teeth,
“Sure.”
“Hey Jesse, come here
with me?” I blurted.
“Why don't you ask
your boyfriend?” Jesse said,
venomously.
“I want to talk with
you.” Jesse followed me under a tree and I asked,
“Why are you here?”
His reply? “I was just keeping my
promise.”

5
months.
It had bee 5 months since I had seen Andi and I was finally
going to get her back. It felt amazing being in Australia
because that meant that I was that much closer to Andi.
Ryan was with me, he was gaping at the Australian woman
with the nice accents but the only girl on my mind was
Andi.
What if she had moved on?
We arrived at the hotel we were staying at. Crystal had
helped us so we knew which day was the graduation and
everything. Andi, of course, had no idea. “Hurry
up!” I said to Ryan.
“Calm down, man!
We've still got a couple of hours.” Our hotel
room was a simple room with two double beds and a bathroom.
The nerves were killing me and I couldn't wait until
I'd be able to see Andi again.
***
We arrived at the venue in which the graduation would be
taking place. Ryan and I took our seats and I couldn't
see Andi. The speech's started and soon they were
calling the people out.
“Diana Jake,” the
principle called and Diana got up, collecting her diploma.
Andi was next. “Andrea Jones!” I sucked in a
breath as Andi walked onto the stage, a graduation hat on
her head and gown over the dress she was probably wearing
underneath. She looked beautiful, that was for sure. She
collected her diploma and walked back off the stage. Ryan
smirked at me and I just shook my head. Soon enough the
ceremony finished and I started looking for Andi, Ryan by
my side. We found Crystal with Diana and another
girl.
“Jesse! Ryan!”
Crystal chirped.
“Hey,” Ryan and I
replied.
“Oh my gosh,
Jesse!” Diana said, flipping her dirty blonde
hair.
“Uh...
hi.”
“What are you guys doing
here?”
“Well, I'm looking
for A-” Crystal shot me a look. “A family
friend...”
“Who?”
“George
Jackobsen,” Crystal said quickly.
“Yeah, so I really
should get going. It's nice finally meeting you.”
With that I walked off, quickly hoping to run into Andi.
Ryan was with Crystal and Diana still so I was
alone.
“Hi handsome,” a
girl said, biting her lip.
“Hello,” I said,
slowly.
“Why haven't I seen
you before?”
“I don't
know,” I shrugged. “I really have to go to
pee... yeah, I need to go to the bathroom so bye!” I
quickly walked away from the red head and spotted Andi. I
started walking to her as a guy kissed her.
Push him away, I prayed in my
mind.
She didn't.
I felt my heart breaking.
Andi was kissing the
guy back... like she used to kiss
me.

"I
missed you guys so much!" I told them, trying to keep
the frown from appearing on my face.
“You have got an
amazing tan,” Diana said. “Did you see
Jesse or Ryan?”
“No,” I lied.
It would be easier if I just forgot about the whole
trip. The flight back to Sydney was long and got me
thinking things that I was trying to avoid.
How long had Jesse had Major Depressive Disorder? Did he
still have it?
It made me feel guilty, maybe I could've helped
him.
I hated the way we ended, the fight, it just didn't
feel right but I knew it was to late. I couldn't do
anything to fix it, I didn't deserve him. He was
amazing and I was just me.
“Oh, pity! It
would've been amazing if you had, I bet Jesse
would've been just as hot in real
life.”
“Defiantly,”
Crystal agreed. I just smiled weakly in response.
“What's wrong?” Crystal asked,
concerned.
“I'm just really,
really tired. I think I'm going to go home.”
After saying my goodbyes, I got into my car and drove home,
going straight to bed but sleep never consumed me. I just
lay in bed, staring at my sealing wondering what Jesse was
doing right at that moment. My mind flicked to Rose and for
a second, I understood why Jesse was ever with
her.
At least she wouldn't break his heart.
Jesse touched the little
key charm. “You are the only girl who will ever have
the key to my heart, so please don't lose it,”
the vulnerability in his voice was clear.
Gosh, I missed him. I looked down at my bracelet and
finally, the tears started falling. It hurt, it hurt like
hell.
“Jesse,” I
whimpered, quietly. I don't know when I fell asleep but
all I knew was when I woke up, my head hurt majorly.
Looking in the mirror in the morning, I realised how
pathetic I was being.
This was my fault and I was acting like Jesse had just gone
and got another girl pregnant. Though, the little pride I
had left was stopping me from calling Jesse up or
something. He wouldn't be able to contact me with a
phone, even if he wanted to because my number was different
here in Australia. I went to school and everything was
chaotic because there was little time until the HSE.
“Andi, hang on!”
Crystal called out.
“What's up?” I
asked.
“Are you
okay?”
“W-what?” I
stuttered... did she know?
“You just seem a little off.”
“Oh,” I replied.
“I'm just really stressed.” It was
surprising how quickly the lie rolled off my tongue and
Crystal seemed happy with my answer.
“I'm sure you'll
do fine,” she responded.
“Hopefully.” I
crossed my fingers and she smiled.
“Okay, c'mon, we
have English.” I followed Crystal into English and we
spoke until the teacher arrived. For once in my life, I
enjoyed going to school because there was no time for me to
think, I could never get lost in thoughts and I was always
busy and that seemed to be what I needed.
I just needed to forget.

I was so
angry.
How dare she?
The front door opened and in came Ryan. “What's
wrong?” he questioned.
“Why are you
here?” I murmured.
“I needed a jacket and
plus, I thought you'd be gone by now.”
“We had a fight,”
I told him, simply and walked off to my room. He followed
me and sat on the edge of my bed. “Just leave me
alone,” I grumbled.
“C'mon, tell me what
happened.” And I did. I told him how Rose came in and
how we started screaming at each other. I told him
everything. “Let her cool down and tomorrow morning,
go see her.”
“I don't want to see
her,” I denied. Ryan gave me a pointed look and I
sighed, “She's leaving
tomorrow.”
“Go before she
leaves.”
Suddenly my anger transformed into regret. I couldn't
lose someone like Andi. She completed me. I went
for a run which helped me think and then went for a shower.
An hour or two later, I went to bed. The next morning, my
alarm went off at 8 in the morning and I got up straight
away, heading for the hotel. When I got there, I went to
the front desk.
“Excuse me,” I
said to the blonde lady behind the front desk.
“How can I help you,
cutie?” she asked, chewing the gum in her
mouth.
“Uh... my girlfriend,
she's staying in room 698 and I was wondering if she
was still there or if she had left.” It felt nice
saying my girlfriend and I hoped that is what she
was. My girlfriend.
“The Jones left one hour
ago, sweet pie,” the lady told me. Sh/t. I got into
my car quickly, trying to get the airport but there was
heaps of traffic. By the time I did get to the airport it
was half past 9. The plane boards at 10. I ran around the
airport, probably looking like a crazy man but I didn't
care. I ended up buying a ticket so I could get past
security. Though, there was a little problem, whenever I
walked in, the machine made a beeping noise.
“Sir, can you please
take your shoes off.” I took my shoes off as I was
directed and let the man search me.
“Man, I need to go! My
girlfriend is in there and I need to get to her,” I
panted though the man gave me no sympathy. Finally I got
out of that mess but I only had 5 minutes to get there. I
ran as fast as I could, reaching the area which was labeled
B. I ran to the desk, giving the lady my ticket.
“Sir-”
“Just put the ticket
in!” I told her. “Scan it, do whatever! Just
let me get into that plane!”
“Uh...”
“Why aren't you
doing anything?!”
“Sir... the last call
for the plane was called a few minutes ago, you missed the
flight.” She said those words that I had been
dreading to hear.
You missed the flight.

I kissed Jesse, thanking him over and over again. The
bracelet is beautiful.
“Do you want me to put
it on you?” he asked and I nodded, handing him the
bracelet and he put it on my wrist. I started looking at
the charms, wondering if they meant something or not. There
was a key, a diploma hat, an airplane, a moon, a little
hospital and a laptop. “They all mean
something,” he said as if he was reading my mind.
“I figured I could add more and more charms as we
go.”
“What
does this mean?” I point to the laptop.
“We met on the
internet,” he told me. “That was the best day
in my life, it might've took me a while to realise that
but its true,” I blushed. “This one, the moon
is because we had our first kiss under the moon,” he
told me.
“What about this
one?” I asked, pointing at the hospital.
“You agreed to be with
me there.”
“The
airplane?”
“You're here, I got
to meet you,” he told me softly.
“And it's taking me
away from you,” I mumbled.
“Hey, hey, c'mon.
Today, we're not going to talk about that, just be
happy.” I nodded as Jesse touched the little key
charm. “You are the only girl who will ever have the
key to my heart, so please don't lose it,” the
vulnerability in his voice was clear. I put my legs on
either side of Jesse and kissed him, wrapping my arms
around his neck. Jesse kissed me back without any
hesitation and soon we were in a heated make out
session.
“Come on,” Jesse
said. “I want to take you somewhere.” We got
into his car and he drove us somewhere. I soon found that
we were at a cemetery.
“Jesse, what are we
doing here?” I asked, quietly.
“I want you to meet my
family,” he told me. Jesse stood in front of three
graves and I stood with him. The first one was his
brothers. It said, 'Zach Gray. Age 22. Beloved son,
friend and brother'. The next one was his mothers
and that said, 'Quinn Gray. Age 45. Beloved wife,
mother and daughter.' The one after was his dads
and said 'Jack Gray. Age 47. Beloved husband,
father and son.' They all had more inscriptions at
the bottom.
“Mum, dad, Zach, I want
you to meet my girlfriend Andi,” Jesse said.
“You would've loved her, she's
amazing.” I didn't know what to say but my heart
fluttered. Jesse obviously had to have trusted me a lot to
have taken me here. We stayed at the cemetery for another
hour before leaving and going to a small cafe down the road
from Jesses apartment.
“So, what are we going
to do after this?” I questioned.
“I would've told you
if it wasn't a surprise,” Jesse
replied.
“Hey,
Jesse?”
“I'm not going to
tell you, so don't you dare look at me with those
eyes,” he chuckled.
“I was just going to ask
about a charm,” I told him.
“Which one?” Jesse
asked.
“The diploma
hat.”
“Oh, that's me
making a promise to you.”
“What promise would that
be?”
“I'll be at your graduation, I
promise.”
