Ch 5
TI hurried to my seat, even though I knew there were 5 minutes before class started. I was focused on getting my books in order, but I could see Markus staring at me through the corner of my eye. Finally i whirled around and looked at him. "Hi." I greeted him. He looked suprised and didn't reply. "Uk okay then." I awkward said and I turned back around.
"No wait! You're the new girl right? What's your name??" Markus asked, interested. He bit his lip and his hazel eyes looked right into mine. I wasn't really sure what my name would be, so I blurted out the first one that came to mind.
"Isabella Johnson." I replied with a smile. "You?"
"Markus." He said, as he ran his hand through his blonde hair. I nodded. "You know, it's actually kinda freaky. You remind me alot of this girl that used to go here." Markus said, coldly. I froze.
"Wha- What happened to her?" I asked, pretending to be concerned. Markus' eyes searched the room.
"Don't know. Disappeared. It was a shame, she was really cool. Her life was a wreck though. " Markus said, looking at his shoes.
"Oh." I said softly. I buried my face into my book as the final bell rang.

That night I slept in an alley by one of the bakeries in town. I hardly ever went to town, so being noticed wasn't really an issue. The very first thing I did when I woke up the next morning, was buy peroxide from the Pharmacy. I bleached my chestnut brown hair, so that nobody would reckon I was actually Brooke Smith. I also bought a ton of makeup. I never really wore makeup before, but I guess I had to now. Once I checked myself into a motel, I freshened up, and fell asleep.

When I woke up, I registered myself to the same school I had been attending; Westshore High. When I arrived, I got a lot of looks. Guys were drooling, girls were glaring. And almost immediately, Luke and his friends walked up to me. "Hey baby you new here?" Luke raised his eyebrows.
"Uh, yeah." I replied, obviously un-interested. But he didn't give up.
"I'll show you round'" He offered.
"I'm fine." I spat. Luke backed off and I pranced away. Throughout the day, guys would ask, "I'm sorry, but do I know you from somewhere? You look familiar." And I would act suprised.
"No, I just moved here from New York." I would lie. I found that lying was much easier than I thought It was. I was a natural.
When I walked into my final class for the day, there was only one empty spot. Right next to Markus.
