I went to a party with my friend and there were drugs and alcohol there. I guess I wanted to prove to everyone that I wasn't 'afraid' of anything, so I smoked pot and got drunk. after that first time I kept doing it, and then it got to the point when I couldnt stop. I used to get all A's in school but now I could barely get C's. I used to be the star of the basketball team but got kicked off after skipping a month of practices. One day, I came home< and my mom grabbed me and said 'What the HELL is wrong with you?!' she had found pot in my room. For two months I wasnt allowed to do anything but go to school. But I still got pot from people at my school using my college-fund money. I was out of control. One night, I heard my parents talking about sending me to an all girls academy. After they left to go to dinner, I packed some things and got in my car to run away. I was drunk and angry and not paying any attention, and I crashed into another car. At the hosptial I learned that I was paralyzed from the waist down. I cried and asked the nurse to go get my parents. She looked like she was about to cry when she told me that the two passengers in the other car had been killed. Then, through tears, she said, 'The two passengers were your parents.' I got out of a jail sentence but had to go to a mental hospital for two years. Today, I still se my parents sometimes, but when I reach for them, theyre gone.
