Then I lost it all im dead and broken my backs against the wall cut me open im just tryna breathe just tryna figure it out because I built these walls to watch them crumbling down
Fixing what had already happened can mess you up in the long run.
¤ just a tumblr wannabe
¤ highly obsessed
¤ don't judge.
When I’m lying in my bed I think about life and I think about death and neither one particularly appeals to me.
your love is my ritual.
I was fourteen when I had a vision
of my dieing by my own hand
not that day, not the next one
but soon because in the vision
I was still a little girl

I wept for my death
bought flowers, bought a black dress
prayed till my knees were red
to absolve my sins before I went

and then I didn't
not that year, not the next one
not before my eighteen and
not the years after

but the fear did not leave
there is still time and
n the mirror I still see
a little girl

GIRL,
YOU WERE BORN WITH A FIRE INSIDE YOU,
AND THIS WORLD IS DETERMINED TO STAMP IT OUT.

YOU WILL SEE IT WHEN YOU STAND UP FOR YOURSELF
AND YOU ARE TOLD ‘IT ISN’T LADYLIKE TO RAISE YOUR VOICE.’

YOU WILL HEAR IT WHEN YOU WEAR SOMETHING THAT HUGS YOUR BODY
AND FEEL THE UNCOMFORTABLE SENSATION OF BEING STRIPPED NAKED
BY THE EYES OF MEN WHO CALL YOU NAMES YOU ARE STILL TOO YOUNG TO UNDERSTAND.

YOU WILL KNOW IT WHEN A MAN TRIES TO USE HIS STRENGTH
TO HAVE HIS WAY WITH YOU THE FIRST TIME,
AND YOU NEED TO USE YOUR FISTS/TEETH/LEGS TO GET HIM OFF.

YOU WILL UNDERSTAND IT WHEN YOU SEE
YOUR MOTHER’S EYES FILLED WITH TERROR
BECAUSE YOU ARE AN HOUR LATER THAN YOU SAID YOU WILL BE HOME.

BUT YOU MUST NEVER EVER LET THEM TAKE
THOSE FLAMES FROM WITHIN YOUR SOUL,
INSTEAD, YOU MUST BURN BRIGHTER THAN EVER
BECAUSE YOU ARE A DAUGHTER OF THE SUN,
AND YOU BELONG ONLY TO YOURSELF, NOT TO THIS WORLD.

Nikita Gill, For Girls Filled with Fire

I have named you queen.
There are taller ones than you, taller.
There are purer ones than you, purer.
There are lovelier than you, lovelier.

But you are the queen.

When you go through the streets
no one recognizes you.
No one sees your crystal crown, no one looks
at the carpet of red gold
that you tread as you pass,
the nonexistent carpet.

And when you appear
all the rivers sound
in my body, bells
shake the sky,
and a hymn fills the world.

Only you and I,
only you and I, my love.
Listen to it.
— THE QUEEN

There is some kind of a sweet innocence in being human; in not having to be just happy or just sad; in the nature of being able to be both broken and whole, at the same time.

This is the thing: When you hit 28 or 30, everything begins to divide. You can see very clearly two kinds of people. On one side, people who have used their 20s to learn and grow, to find themselves and their dreams, people who know what works and what doesn’t, who have pushed through to become real live adults. Then there’s the other kind, who are hanging onto college, or high school even, with all their might. They’ve stayed in jobs they hate, because they’re too scared to get another one. They’ve stayed with men or women who are good but not great, because they don’t want to be lonely. They mean to develop intimate friendships, they mean to stop drinking like life is one big frat party. But they don’t do those things, so they live in an extended adolescence, no closer to adulthood than when they graduated.

Don’t be like that. Don’t get stuck. Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming. Don’t lose yourself at happy hour, but don’t lose yourself on the corporate ladder either. Stop every once in a while and go out to coffee or climb in bed with your journal.

Ask yourself some good questions like: “Am I proud of the life I’m living? What have I tried this month? Do the people I’m spending time with give me life, or make me feel small? Is there any brokenness in my life that’s keeping me from moving forward?”

Now is your time. Walk closely with people you love, and with people who believe. Life is a grand adventure. Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself into a future you haven’t yet earned. Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep traveling honestly along life’s path.
