A world fit for
It was the summer of 1980. I was a young boy, on a trip to the
beach, to spend the summer with my Grandfather. I only had to
go because my parents died in a car crash, so i had to stay
there until the police found a good place for me to stay. I
hated the thought og spending the whole summer playing board
games and eating cereal, why my buddies were going to vegas
together. i was going to go, but the whole car crash really
screwed things up. In addition, they were bringing along Mia,
the girl i have LIKED ever scince i can remember. So this was
not a very nice time in my life.
so i thought at first.
When i got to my Granfathers beach house, he was sitting on the
porch, appearing to be daydreaming. He saw me and got to his
feet, and started to walk towords me.
" Hello, Jason!" He said.
"Hey, grandfather." he gave me a hug. he smelled like
cat food and denture cream.
" i have really been looking foreward to seeing you!"
He said. " im going to do everything i can to make your
summer the best!"
Totally. spending time with old G-Fathers going to be the
" do you want to check out the boardwalk?" he
Great, ill be seen in public with him. but, how could i say
"ok, we can bring some money for T-shirts."
"oh no, i wont be going" he said. " the sun isnt
good for my skin. go on ahead and check it out yourself if you
"ok Grandfather. Ill be back in maybe an hour?"
so I took off.
The boardwalk, as i remember, was great. It had a small
amusement park, and lots of arcades, resturaunts, and souvenir
stores. I took a look around in the Arecade, and i remember
buying a I <3 NJ shirt. I went to a small veiwing pier
protruding from the boardwalk. i went to the very end and
looked out at the ocean. Then, i looked beside me. I remember
feeling a crazy, stupid, perfectly amazing feeling when i saw
her, standing not 5 feet away from me. She was the most
beautiful girl i had ever seen.
I knew, with all of my heart, that this was love at first
