Bringing Him Back
Chapter 2.
I woke up the next morning, well
before dawn. I rolled out of bed, and walked over to the small
square window across the room. I looked outside, to find only
roots of trees and dirt; no signs of human life. I sighed, as I
fell into the nearest chair. I ran my fingers through my hair,
and thought of one thing,
Alex.
I shook the thought of him standing there, covered in blood,
telling me to run. The thought of him never finding me, never
seeing him again, ran chills down my spine. After all that time,
all those memories, made me sick that someone had the nerve to
take love away. Sick I mumbled as I stood up from
the chair, and pulled a sweatshirt from the corner of my bed over
my head. I walked out of the dark room, and into a hallway filled
with doors. I ran my finger along the wall, muttering the numbers
of the rooms as I walked past them. At the end of the hallway,
there was a small child. I sighed, as I picked up my pace. I
could make out some simple features; bright red hair, brown eyes,
and the same patch of freckles my cousin Gracie has. She smiled
and flashed her crocked teeth as I aproached her. I did the same,
as I tryed to pass her. She obviouslly didn't want me to
pass, because she jumped in front of me blocking the path. I
sighed, and tried again. She only continued to block me, as I saw
how similar she looked to Gracie.
"Look, please move so I can go?" I asked, trying
again.
She pulled me to my knees, and shook her head no. I let out a
long sigh, as she pulled something from her pocket. She stuffed
it in my hands, and took a step away from me. I looked at the
picture she gave me, and recogonized a smaler version of me,
holding a baby. I was standing in front of my Aunt Carol and
Uncle William, who took care of me for so, so long. My cousin
Jenny was standing beside me, and my mouth fell open as I
realized that the child I was holding in the picture was standing
right in front of me.
Gracie was in the Wilds.
Bringing Him Back
Chapter 1.
"Home?" I chocked.
"Yep. No going back now. You're an Invalid. They got the
border lined, no getting in or out for a few days. They'll
eventually get tired, and leave like always. But not for a week.
We're living on all we got untill people can
cross.."
I sat there, starring at the wall. I couldn't think, I
couldnt breathe. I put my hand in my palms, and shut my eyes.
Thoughts of Alex ran through my head. Was he alive? Is he coming
for me? Chills ran through me at the thought of him never coming
back.
"Hey, what's your name?" May asked.
"L-lena. Call me Lena."
She paused. "Pretty name."
I nodded, and started thinking of Alex again.
"Do you know what happened to, to the boy I was with?"
I asked her.
"Nope. Some say he got away, some say he died. No ones
really sure."
"Where, is this?"
"New Hampshire. You ran for miles Lena. Miles.."
"Miles?" I whispered.
How was Alex going to find me? Is Alex going to find me?
I took a few deep breaths, and let a tear stream down my
face.
I couldnt get one thing off my mind.
Alex Alex Alex Alex Alex.
Where the hell was Alex?
Bringing Him Back
Prolouge.
I did as Alex said. I ran, and ran,
and ran.
I couldn't get that image out of my head.
Alex, standing there, surrounded. Covered in blood. He said one
word.
Run.
I couldnt breathe anymore. I fell to the ground, and paniced. I
dug my nails into the dirt, and pulled myself foward.
Again.
Again.
Again.
I couldnt move any further. I felt the blood pouring out of my
sides, and legs. Finally, I just layed there, dieing.
"Hey! Hey!" I heard.
I didnt have enough strength to move.
"What?" Another voice answered.
"Come here, and help me." It was a woman's voice.
It was soft, and her words flowed.
I heard footsteps gradually coming closer to me, as I still was
lifeless.
"Help me lift her." She said again.
I was suddenly floating above the ground, hands gripping my feet
and stomache. I landed on the ground again, and heard water
flowing nearby. Suddenly, my face was drentched, and water was
pouring into my mouth.
"You'll be okay." She said, as I was lifted
again.
-
"Wake up. Wake up." I heard, as pots and pans slammed
together.
I sat up, and realized I was indoors, sitting on a bed. The room
was small, and made of wood.
The Wilds.
I was in the Wilds, I thought. I suddenly bounced to my feet, and
looked around.
"Hey hey calm down. Sit on the bed again." The womans
voice said.
I whipped around to see a tall girl, with long black hair, and
shining brown eyes.
"Go!" She demanded.
I did as told, and pulled myself back into the bed.
"Is this, the Wilds?" I asked.
"This is home. You'll be living here for the rest of
your life."
I looked around again, as a bowl of food was slammed into my
lap.
"Eat." She mumbled, as she passed me a spoon.
"What happened?" I asked her, shoving a spoonful of
soup into my mouth.
"You made it. You jumped the fence and made it. You were
running somewhere, and I - well Brad and I found you, laying on
the ground. We picked you up and brought you here. I'm May.
Welcome home."
