**Rose’s P.O.V**
I can’t believe it. Ryan’s finally mine. I can’t stop smiling, I’m just so happy. At around 1:30 everyone came back to the hospital. “So guys, I got something to tell you.” Ryan said. He turned towards me. “Well two things.” He said smiling. “Alright, tell us.” Tim said. “Well one, I can leave in two days.” “Awesome, than I could go back to kickin your butt at COD.” “In your dreams Rob, I’m always going to be better than you.” “Whatever.” Rob muttered. “Okay, well what’s the second thing?” Kristen asked. He looked over to me and took my hand in his. Our fingers interlocked and I couldn’t help but smile. “Its official, Rose and I are together.” Even though I already knew this, when I heard him say this, my heart started beating 10 times faster. “FINALLY!” Steph yelled. “Took ya guys long enough.” Mike said. Ryan and I looked at each other and laughed. “So what are we gonna do for the next two days until you get outta here?” Tanner asked Ryan. “I don’t know, figure somethin out.” He answered. “You’re a big help. Not.” “Well I know what us girls are doing.” Steph said with a smile. “And what is that?” I asked hesitantly. “Meeting your parents, duh!” “Now?” “Well sooner or later, preferably sooner. So yeah, now. Well not right now, but like in an hour or so.” “Alright, but I gotta get back and take a shower.” “Yeah you stink.” Ryan said plugging his nose. “Jerk.” I said playfully punching his shoulder. “Maybe I am, but you still love me.” he said. “Yeah I know.” I said smiling. “Okay, then we better leave know, you gotta look good when meeting your parents for the first time since you were born.” Kristen said pulling me towards the door. “Alright hold on, let me say bye.” I said pulling out of her grip. “Bye, I’ll come back later and tell you what happens.” I told him and gave him a hug “Bye, I’ll see ya later.” He said kissing me on the cheek. I definitely know I blushed when he did. We got into Steph’s car and drove back to the house. I hopped in the shower and blow dried my hair when I got out. Steph and Kristen changed out of their pajama shorts and tank tops as well. It took about 30 minutes to get to their beach house. We pulled up to the driveway and holy crap, this house was huge! Not as big as the one in Texas, but it was still pretty big. I took a deep breath and got out of the car. I walked up the long driveway with Steph and Kristen behind me. It felt like we were back in Texas when we first went to meet them. I stopped in front of the door and rang the doorbell. When the door opened I saw a man in a black suit and tie, I’m guessing he was the butler. “Hello, how may I help you?” “Hi, I’m looking for Jerry and Kathy Winters.” I said surprised by the confidence in my voice. “Who are you?” he asked. “I’m Rose, their daughter.” He looked at me shocked. “Daughter?” “Long story, can I just talk to them?” “Oh yes, please come in.” he led us into a room with a huge flat screen TV, three leather couches and a glass coffee table. “Take a seat while I go get them.” He said. The three of us sat down and waited for my parents. A few minutes later the butler came back with two people following behind him. They looked just like the people in my dream. “Who are you?” Kathy asked. “I’m Rose, your daughter.” I said nervously. “That’s impossible we don’t have a daughter.” She said. “Yeah you do, you put me up for adoption when I was still a baby.” This time Jerry spoke. “How did you find out?” “Well first it started with this weird dream of mine, you guys were in it and I knew it had to mean something…” I told them all about the adoption center and Tracy, Paul, and Derek, everything, other then the whole kidnapping thing. “It really is you.” My mom said with tears in her eyes. “I thought I would never see you again.” she came over and gave me a hug. I could feel tears coming out of my eyes now. “I just have one question.” I said. “What’s that?” my mom said sniffling. “Why’d you do it?” My mom and dad shared and look and it was my dad who answered. “With the whole career and all the movies and stuff that we had to do, we didn’t think we could handle having a baby on our hands. We were just going to get a nanny to take care of you but you needed a childhood and people that could actually take care of you. We feel awful about it now but it was the right thing to do at the time.” I smiled. “You know what, I don’t even care. As long as I’m here with you guys now, I could care less.” My mom and dad smiled and pulled me in for a hug. For the first time, I finally felt like a belonged to a family that actually cared. **Rose’s P.O.V**
I woke up to sun streaming through the windows in my room. Wait, this isn’t my room. I looked around and saw that I was still in the hospital next sitting in the chair next to Ryan. I rubbed my eyes to see that there was no one in his bed. Where the hell did he go? Did he leave me? No, he would have woken me up, wouldn’t he? I got up and went to the bathroom. When I got out he was in his bed again. “Where the hell were you?” I asked. “The nurses had me walk around a little bit since I haven’t really moved out of this bed since the surgery.” He answered casually. “You had me thinking you left me here!” I said. “Sorry, I didn’t wake you. You passed out in that chair last night. We all tried waking you up, Rob even blasted music in your ears, you didn’t budge. They were gonna carry you out to the car and bring you home but I told them to just leave you here.” “Damn, I didn’t know I was that heavy of a sleeper.” He laughed at me and rolled his eyes. “Oh and I found out when I could leave.” He said with a smile. “Oh really? When?” “Two days!” he yelled. “That’s awesome.” “Oh my god, you have no idea how bad I just wanna get outta here. Some advice; never drive when you’re angry, it probably won’t end well.” “Thanks for the advice.” I said laughing. It fell silent after that. “So…” I said breaking the silence. “So…” he said. “What was it that you wanted to tell me last night?” I asked. “Oh…uhh…”

She asked me what I had to tell her but honestly I don’t think I could bring myself to tell her. “Oh…uhh...” I stammered. “I wanted to tell you that...uhh…” I closed me eyes and took a deep breath. “Ilikeyou.” I said quickly. I opened my eyes to see her smiling. She stood up from the chair and gave me a hug. “I like you too.” This time it was me who smiled. “But what about Olivia?” “What about her?” “Aren’t you two dating?” “Not anymore. That’s what I came to tell you when I came to the house.” When I said this she sat back down and looked to the floor. “I’m so stupid.” She whispered. “What? No! Rose you’re not anywhere near stupid. Don’t even think that.” “But I am if I let you talk and didn’t just walk away you wouldn’t even be here right now.” She said crying a little and still looking at the floor. She sniffled and wiped a tear. I picked up here head and wiped a tear that just fell from her eye. “Don’t think this is at all your fault. Please don’t. It’s all my fault, I was the stupid one. And please stop crying, you look so much better with a smile on your face.” I said. She smiled a little and I could see her blush. “Thanks, you always know what to say.” She said sniffling one more time. “What are best friends for?” “Best friends?” she asked. “That’s what we are, aren’t we?” “Well yeah…I just thought…” “Rose, will you be my girlfriend?” I said cutting her off. “I would love to.” She said smiling. **Rose’s P.O.V**
My friends would walk in right when Ryan had to tell me something. Just my luck. Steph walked over to me and gave me a chocolate chip muffin. “I figured you’d want something to eat.” She said. She knew me so well. “Thanks.” I must have been hungrier than I thought because I finished the muffin in the matter of like 3 minutes. “You got a little muffin on your face.” Ryan said stifling laughter. I couldn’t help but laugh myself. “So when can I leave this place?” Ryan asked. We all looked at each other and all shrugged. “Dude, you got a broken arm, fractured wrist, and a minor concussion, I don’t think you can leave like today.” Tim said. “God this sucks.” Ryan said. “Next time don’t run a red light.” Rob remarked. “Shut up!” Ryan said throwing a pillow at him. In turn, Rob threw it right back but instead of hitting Ryan it hit me. “Dude you better watch out, she’s giving you the death stare.” Mike teased. “Shut up Mike!” I said and threw the pillow at him instead. He was about to throw it when Steph took it out of his hands. “I’ll take this before something gets broken.” Steph said. She was always the more mature one of the group. “Party pooper.” Mike muttered. Everyone starting laughing. “I am not!” Steph said punching him in the arm. “Ouch! That hurt so bad.” He said sarcastically. “You’re such a jerk!” Steph said. “I know.” Mike said. My stomach hurt from laughing so much and I almost peed my pants. After we all calmed down the guys started talking about sports and other guy stuff so the three of us went to take a walk. “So Rose, who was this Tom guy?” Steph asked as soon as we stepped out of Ryan’s room. “Just some guy I met. Trust me nothing’s going on between us, we are just friends.” I said. “Yeah Steph, come on, you know she likes Ryan, this Tom kid has got nothin’ on him.” Kristen said. “I do not like Ryan! How many times do I have to tell you guys that?” “Until you can say it without blushing.” Steph said. I put my hands over my face, which caused them both to start laughing. “I hate both of you.” I said. “No you don’t, you know you love us.” Kristen said putting her arm around me. “Sadly, I do.” We all started laughing. We walked to dunkin donuts that was right down the street. I got my usual French vanilla iced coffee, Steph got a Vanilla Bean coolata, and Kristen got a caramel swirl iced latte. We walked back to the hospital and made our way up to Ryan’s room. We walked into the room and the guys were watching sports. I sat down next to Ryan and Steph and Kristen took a seat near the guys. “Way to get us dunkin donuts.” Josh complained. “You didn’t ask.” Kristen said, taking a sip of her drink. “That’s alright, I’ll just steal some of yours.” He said smirking and taking her drink and taking a big gulp of it. “Whatever.” Kristen said. “Hey, you may be okay with it, but I’m thirsty.” Rob said. “Sucks doesn’t it?” Steph said. He raised his eyebrows at her eyeing her drink. “No, you are not taking mine.” Steph protested. “But sharing is caring.” He said taking it from her. She sighed and crossed her arms. He took a sip looking at her the whole time. After he was done he just looked back to the TV without giving it back. I couldn’t help but laugh at them. Why don’t they just get together already? She cleared her throat and he turned to look at her. “Is there something you would like?” He teased. “My drink back, please.” “Well because I’m such a nice guy, and you said please, sure.” He said taking one last big sip and giving it back. “Oh would you two just get together already.” Mike said. Everyone started laughing and both Steph and Rob blushed. “Hey, can I have a sip of your drink?” Ryan whispered in my ear. I laughed a little. “Here,” I whispered back, “But you didn’t have to ask, you could have just taken it.” I said. “Nah, I didn’t want to be a jerk and steal it from you like those idiots.” He said. I giggled a little which caused everyone to look at me. “Would you two stop flirting over there, I’m tryin’ to watch some sports.” Tanner said. I looked down at my feet so no one would see how bad I was blushing but I know Steph and Kristen caught on because they started laughing at me. I heard a little chuckle close by and looked up at Ryan. “Something funny to you?” I asked. “A little.” He said with a smile. I rolled me eyes at him and took my drink back. “No more for you.” He gave me that puppy dog look. “That stuff doesn’t work on me.” I said. “Damn.” He whispered. I laughed. “Hey Rose, me and Kirsten are gonna head back, wanna come?” Steph asked coming over to me. “Nah, I’m good, I’ll stay here for a bit.” I said. “Alright.” Steph said winking at me. “Shut up!” I said. “I didn’t say anything!” “You didn’t have to.” “Whatever. See ya later.” She said walking out the door. “Bye Steph, bye Kristen.” I said. “See ya.” She said before following Steph out the door. I woke up the next morning and Ryan was still sleeping. I looked around to see all my friends still sleeping in the room. Rob and Tim were sprawled out on a couch. Josh, Tanner, and Mike crashed on the floor, and Steph and Kristen fell asleep in two chairs. I got up to go to the bathroom. When I got out everyone was up, except of course Ryan. “Hey, we’re gonna go down to the cafeteria and get some breakfast, wanna come?” Tanner asked. I was hungry, but I didn’t want to leave just in case Ryan woke up. “Nah, I’ll stay here. You guys go ahead.” “Are you sure? You’ve gotta be hungry.” Kristen said. My stomach growled but I ignored it. “Not right now, I’ll go down later to eat.” She shrugged her shoulders and they walked out of the room. I went to sit back down next to Ryan and took his hand again. “Come on Ryan, please just wake up.” I whispered. Just then I saw Ryan’s eyes flutter open. “Rose?” he whispered.
**Ryan’s P.O.V**
I slowly opened my eyes after what seemed like forever. When my eyes were fully opened I saw Rose starring down at me. “Rose?” I whispered. “Ryan! You’re awake!” She said excitedly. “What happened?” I asked. “You don’t remember?” she asked. I closed my eyes and thought about it for a minute. Just then the scene played out for me.
I was so angry when Rose left me to go with some other guy. After all I broke up with Olivia for Rose. I stormed back to my car and started to drive. I didn’t know where I was going, I just drove. I started to cry and the tears blurred out my vision. I just drove non-stop. Suddenly I saw two headlights coming at me from my right. I realized I ran a red light without really knowing. Seconds later my body was thrown sideways and I blacked out.
I opened my eyes and I felt Rose wipe away a tear. I didn’t know what to say. “This is all my fault.” She whispered. “What? No. Don’t even say that. If it was anyone’s it was mine. I was being stupid and I over reacted. It was my fault I ran the red light, if I didn’t I wouldn’t have been hit by that car. Don’t blame yourself; you had no control over it.” I told her. “But I did. If I didn’t leave you at the door like I did, you wouldn’t have even gotten into your car. I had to tell her how I felt. I woke up the next morning and Ryan was still sleeping. I looked around to see all my friends still sleeping in the room. Rob and Tim were sprawled out on a couch. Josh, Tanner, and Mike crashed on the floor, and Steph and Kristen fell asleep in two chairs. I got up to go to the bathroom. I couldn’t believe who was standing in front of me. I couldn’t help but stare. Why was he here in the first place? I went to say something but he cut me off. “Before you say anything, I need to say sorry for leaving earlier today. It’s just that Olivia wanted me to pick her up earlier and if I said no she’ll question me and throw some kind of fit or something. I’m really sorry.” Ryan said. I was at a loss for words. “I…uhh…” I stammered. Just then I saw Tom pulling into the driveway. “I gotta go. I’ll talk to you later.” I said quickly and pushed past him. What is he doing here? Didn’t he have a date with Olivia? Tom got out of the car and opened the door for me. “What a gentleman.” I said laughing. “I try my hardest.” He said as he was getting back in the car on his side. I couldn’t help but see Ryan standing in the doorway watching me drive away with Tom. “So where are we going?” I asked as we started driving. “I thought we could get something to eat and then there’s a carnival on the beach that we could go to.” “Sounds great.” I looked out the window and thought back to what just happened with Ryan. Just then I pushed the thought out of my mind. I’m with Tom and I’m not going to think about Ryan, at all. Tom stopped the car at some diner that looked like a nice hangout. We got in and sat down. A lot of people came up to Tom and said hi or something, he must be the more popular type. We started talking and I realized this kid was most likely the class clown. Everything I did he made a joke about, obviously not meaning them or anything but I had a really fun time. We talked about each other’s lives and family and other stuff. The only thing I kept from him was the whole kidnapping thing, and the fact that I lived in Texas, not Florida. After we finished eating he took me to the carnival. It was packed! There were people everywhere, and I didn’t really know anyone. Just then my phone started ringing. “Excuse me.” I said to Tom and answered my phone while walking away a little. I looked at the caller ID; Steph. “What do you want Steph?” “Rose! Where are you?” she asked. She sounded as if she was crying. “I’m at the carnival with Tom, why?” “Tom? Who’s Tom.” “Someone I met at work, while we were kidnapped. But that doesn’t matter. What happened?” “It’s…Ryan.” She hesitated. When I heard his name, my heart dropped. “What happened to him?” I asked now on the verge of tears. “Rob got a call from the hospital. He got into a car accident. He had to go into surgery, but none of us know what’s wrong.” she said almost crying now. “I’ll be right there.” I said quickly. “What about Tom?” “I don’t know I’ll figure something out.” “Alright, see ya soon.” “Bye.” I hung up the phone and walked back over to Tom. “I’m really sorry, but I gotta go. One of my friends just got into a car accident and is in the hospital. I had a really nice time though, maybe we could hang out again soon?” I said. “Sure thing. Do you need a ride there?” “That would be great, thanks.” I said. We got into his car and drove to the hospital. He dropped me off and I ran through the doors. Right when I stepped in I saw all my friends sitting in the waiting room. Steph and Kristen came up to me and gave me a hug, instantly I started crying. “It’ll be okay.” Kristen reassured me. “Yeah, he’ll be fine, he’s a tough kid.” I heard Tim say. I took a seat in one of the waiting room chairs wiped the tears from my eyes. After waiting for what seemed like hours a doctor came through the doors. “Hello, I’m Dr. Rosco; you must all be here for Ryan Shepherds?” We all nodded. “Well good news is all he has is a broken arm, fractured wrist, and a minor concussion. He should be okay though.” I let out a sigh of relief. I don’t know what I would have done if he wasn’t okay. “Can we go see him?” I asked. “Yes, but he’s on some medication right now that keeps im sleeping from the surgery, he might not be up until tomorrow though. “I don’t care.” We all got up and followed Dr. Rosco to Ryan’s room. There he was sleeping, with his arm in a cast and a bunch of wires connected to him. “This is all my fault.” I whispered, thinking no one would hear me, but they all did. “How is it your fault?” Josh asked. “Because right before I went out he came to the house to talk to me and I just basically blew him off. If it weren’t for me he wouldn’t have gotten into that crash.” “Rose, you couldn’t have done anything to prevent this; you honestly can’t believe this your fault.” Rob said. “But it is. If I took the time to talk to him, he wouldn’t be in this mess.” I said walking over to sit in the chair next to the bed. I took hold of Ryan’s hand and put my head down and waited for him to wake up. After waiting a least an hour, I fell asleep.

**Rose’s P.O.V**
I got into the car and all I could think about was Ryan, and how he just left without saying goodbye. Yeah I know Rob told me it was because of Olivia, but Ryan could have at least said bye himself. Then I started thinking about what he was gonna say when he read the note. I debated whether I should tell him I liked him or not, but then I realized he had Olivia and it wouldn’t have made a difference, so I didn’t add that in. Everyone else was sleeping in the car except for Tim, who was driving. The silence gave me time to just sit and think. I thought about all the good times I had at the house. Even though we were being held captive, I still had a good time. Maybe it was because of Ryan, maybe not. But either way, I had fun and that’s what I wanted this summer, to have fun. I looked at my phone and looked at my background. It was of Ryan and me the night before, right before we went to bed. I was sticking me tongue out at him and he had his arm around me and had this goofy smile on his face. Seeing this made my heart hurt. I watched as a single tear dropped onto my phone screen. God, why didn’t I tell him I liked him? Maybe he could feel the same way. I tried telling my self that, but why would he ever like me? He’s going out with Olivia, and he seems really happy with her. I put my phone into my pocket and put in my headphones. I closed my eyes as the music filled my ears. Just then I felt my phone vibrate. I was going to ignore it, but if it was Ryan I wanted to talk to him. I looked at the name on the screen and got a little upset. It was just Tom.

I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder shaking me awake. “Rose! We’re here!” Stephanie exclaimed. I saw that all my friends already had gone inside. I got out of the car and fell because my legs were asleep. Steph just stood there laughing at me. “You know you could help me up instead of laughing at me.” I stated. “No, I think I’m better off not.” she said still laughing. She turned around and walked into the house. I picked my self off the ground and slowly walked into the house. They guys were all playing C.O.D, typical and Kristen and Steph were upstairs doing who knows what, probably getting changed to go to the beach. I walked into my room and started getting ready to hang out with Tom. I finally decided to grab my blue and white striped bikini, (just and case we go to the beach) and a jean skirt and a grey and blue striped tank top to go over it. I left my hair down for now, but grabbed a hair elastic just in case. Lastly I grabbed a pair of blue flip flops right as I walked out of my room. I watched about 5 minutes of TV and then the guys came in and took over. “What do you guys think you’re doing?” “Watching sports, what are you doing?” Mike asked. “Well I WAS watching TV, until some idiots decided to come in and take it away from me.” I said smiling at him. “Well, you’re nice.” Tanner said sarcastically. “I know I am.” I said. **Ryan’s P.O.V**
I was waiting on the couch for Rose, so I could say goodbye. I was just watching some TV when my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID; Olivia. “Hey Liv, what’s up?” “Oh nothing, do you think could pick me up in like 20 minutes instead of later?” “I don’t know I have stuff to do.” “Oh come on Ryan, my friends want to meet us at the mall at around 12:30. Please.” She whined. This was one thing I hated about Olivia. She always wanted me to go everywhere with her and I had to or she would throw a fit or something. “Fine, I’ll be there in 15.” I sighed. “Yay! Okay, see you soon. Love ya bye.” I hung up, but the phone back in my pocket and grabbed my car keys. “Hey man, where ya goin?” Rob asked. “Pick up Olivia.” I said. “I thought you were picking her up later? Aren’t you gonna say bye to everyone?” he questioned. “Change of plans and tell them all I say bye.” I honestly didn’t care about saying bye to any of them except Rose. I was truly gonna miss her. We became such good friends over the past few months. And that’s just it, friends. That’s all, nothing more. It’s not like she could ever like me back anyway. Ever since that night when she came into the room crying because Josh I knew I liked her, but we agreed that it just couldn’t happen. I wanted to tell her so bad but every time I went to, I just chickened out. And anyways I had Olivia now. I got into my car and looked back towards the house where Rose was. No, I have to stop thinking of her. I told myself, but whether I liked it or not, that would never happen. I started my car and backed out of the driveway. It took about 10 minutes to get to Olivia’s but I was in no rush so I took my time getting there. I was about halfway there when I realized I forgot my wallet at the house. I pulled into a parking lot and called Olivia. “Hey Ryan, are you almost here?” “Yeah about that, I forgot my wallet at the house so I gotta go back and get it. I’ll be there in about 15 minutes.” I could hear her sigh on the other end of the phone. “Alright, just hurry up.” She said. “I’ll go as fast as I can.” I said. “Bye.” I hung up the phone and started on my way back. When I pulled into the driveway I could see everyone getting into the car. Rose was the last one and as I got out of my car our eyes met, but what I saw in her eyes was shocking. I saw hate and a little anger. I hope that’s not about me not being here at first. She looked away and got into the car. I walked into the house and up to my room to grab my wallet. I walked into my room and over to my bedside table to grab my wallet but I also found something on my bed that wasn’t there before. There was a folded piece of paper with my name written on it. I opened it slowly, wondering where it came from.

So as you already know, I have officially left. I hope we can still talk and stay friends even though we won’t be seeing each other everyday like we have for the past two months. Anyway, I hope you and Olivia have a nice relationship. She’s one special girl. Oh, one more thing before I leave. I was looking around the room one day and found a notebook in your closet next to your guitar. Me being my curious self, I looked in it. Those songs that you wrote are truly amazing and I just wish I could have heard you play some. But there was one that really caught my eye. It was the one at the very last page. I found it earlier today when I was taking one last look before I had to go. It was called Unexpected Love, well you probably already know that, but I really liked it. And I realized it wasn’t finished, you should really finish it someday its really good. I’m guessing it’s about Olivia, she’s one lucky girl. **Ryan’s P.O.V**

It took about 10 minutes to get to Olivia’s but I was in no rush so I took my time getting there. I was about halfway there when I realized I forgot my wallet at the house. I pulled into a parking lot and called Olivia. “Hey Ryan, are you almost here?” “Yeah about that, I forgot my wallet at the house so I gotta go back and get it. I’ll be there in about 15 minutes.” I could hear her sigh on the other end of the phone. “Alright, just hurry up.” She said. “I’ll go as fast as I can.” I said. “Bye.” I hung up the phone and started on my way back. When I pulled into the driveway I could see everyone getting into the car. Rose was the last one and as I got out of my car our eyes met, but what I saw in her eyes was shocking. I saw hate and a little anger. I hope that’s not about me not being here at first. She looked away and got into the car. I walked into the house and up to my room to grab my wallet. I walked into my room and over to my bedside table to grab my wallet but I also found something on my bed that wasn’t there before. There was a folded piece of paper with my name written on it. I opened it slowly, wondering where it came from.
Dear Ryan,
So as you already know, I have officially left. I hope we can still talk and stay friends even though we won’t be seeing each other everyday like we have for the past two months. Anyway, I hope you and Olivia have a nice relationship. She’s one special girl. Oh, one more thing before I leave. Too bad the song is about her. I feel like a complete idiot now. Why couldn’t I just tell her? The answer was simple. I was scared. Of what? Who knows? But I was. “Rose come on wake up!” I heard a familiar voice say. “No let me sleep!” I said still half asleep. “No you have to get up, right now!” without a chance to answer the person picked me up and dropped me on the floor. I rubbed my eyes and saw Ryan standing over me. “Was that really necessary?” I asked. “It woke you up didn’t it?” he said with a smile. I rolled me eyes and pushed myself off the floor. “Now that you are up, you gotta get dressed and finish packing, your leaving in 30 minutes.” He said and walked out the room. Little did he know I was already done packing, but I took my time. I quickly threw on a pair of washed-out jeans and a tank top. I went back over to the closet where I first found the notebook of Ryan’s. I opened the door, and there it was lying right next to his guitar. I flipped threw the book until I got to the last page. I got into the room, closed the door and burst into tears. I slid down the door with my head in my hands. Wait a minute. Why am I even crying over him? It’s not like we were together or anything, it was just a stupid crush. I pulled my self off the floor and walked over to my mirror. My make-up was streaked down my cheeks and messed up. I fixed that up and walked back downstairs with confidence. I walked into the kitchen and went to grab something to eat. I walked over the fridge and looked for what I could eat. “We need to talk.” It scared me to hear someone talk so I hit my head on the fridge. I backed away from the fridge rubbing my head and turned to see who was there. And what do you know the one and only, Ryan. “No we don’t.” I said walking past him. He took hold of my arm and turned me around. “Yes we do.” He said almost yelling. “There’s nothing to talk about.” I said calmly. “Uhh, what about what you just saw?” he asked. “What about it? You were with some girl, its fine with me. I could care less if you were going out with her or not.” I said trying to sound as confident as I could. “Really? Because I saw hurt in your eyes.” “It wasn’t hurt, I was just surprised. It’s not everyday when you walk in and see your best friend with some random girl.” I said. “Olivia.” “What?” “Her name’s Olivia, I met her at work one day when you were home because of your ankle. We started talking and then I asked her out. We have been going out for like 3 weeks now.” “Great to know.” I said. Why is he even bothering telling me this. I don’t care who she is. “Oh, what was it you wanted anyway?” he asked. “Tim said I could have my phone back and told me to tell you to give it to me.” “Why would you need your phone?” he asked. “To talk to people. You know that’s what you usually do with a phone.” I answered. “Who would you talk to? All your friends are already here.” He said. What is his problem? “To talk to Tom. The guy I met today.” “Oh.” Was all he said. He turned and walked to some closet and took down a box. He took out my blackberry and handed it over. “Thank you.” I said and walked into the living room to watch some TV before dinner. “Dinner’s ready!” I heard Rob yell after about an hour. “Okay guys, there’s something I need to tell you all.” Tim started. “You have been here for about two months now and I just think, maybe it’s because we are more friends now, but I was thinking that it was time for me to let you guys go.” He said. All of my friends stopped eating and looked at him in shock. “Are you serious?” Kristen asked breaking the silence. He nodded. “Yup. You guys can all start packing after dinner and we can drop you off tomorrow morning wherever you guys are staying.” Tim said. We all finished eating real quick and rushed upstairs to start packing. Right when I started packing me phone vibrated in my pocket. I took it out and it came up with an anonymous number.

He smiled. “Really?” “Yeah, I mean we didn’t start out exactly liking each other but look at us now, we’re like best friends,” I started, “And just because I’m leaving doesn’t mean we still can’t talk.” “What do you mean?” he asked. “It’s called a cell phone, you know you use those to talk to people.” I said smiling. He laughed a little and took out his cell phone. I added my number and put my contact name as Rose your best friend foreverrrr(:he added his number into mine. I looked at what he put and his contact name was Ryan your favorite person in the world<3. “So what are we gonna do when you go back to Texas?” Ryan asked as I put the last little things into my bag. “I honestly don’t know, but we’ll figure something out.” I said. I lay down on my bed and just thought about everything that happened between us these past 2 months. We may have started off hating each other but now I really liked this kid, but I doubt he feels the same because he’s with Olivia. “So when are you bringing us back tomorrow?” I asked. “Oh, I’m uh…not bringing you back. Rob and Tim are. I’m uh…going out with Olivia tomorrow.” He said. “Oh. Alright. Well I’m gonna head to bed. I’ll see you in the morning?” I questioned. “Yeah, I’m not leaving until like 1ish and Tim said you were leaving at like 12:30 so I’ll defiantly see you.” “Okay. Goodnight Ryan.” “Night Rose.” Minutes later I was fast asleep.

“You know, we gotta stop meeting like this.” He said. It was the guy from the club last night. “You’re telling me? I’m running out of shirts.” I said laughing. “So I never caught your name last night.” He said handing me napkins. “Rose.” I answered while wiping ice cream off my shirt. “Thomas, but everyone calls me Tom.” He said. “Sorry about the ice cream, I can get you a new one.” I said. “No it’s okay, how about I buy you one though?” he said. “Sure.” I said smiling. I made my way back to the line where I saw Ryan starring at me. I joined him with the guy behind me. “Don’t worry about buying me ice cream, Tom is gonna buy mine.” I whispered to Ryan. He just nodded and didn’t say anything. I could feel something was wrong but I didn’t bother asking. Ryan ordered and got his ice cream and walked back to the car and waited for me. “How can I help you?” The girl said when I stepped up to the counter. “I’ll just have a medium chocolate ice cream on a cone.” I said. “I’ll have that as well.” I heard Tom say behind me. Tom paid and she gave us our ice cream. “It didn’t look like chocolate when it was on my shirt.” I said. “It wasn’t, I had a banana spilt.” “Oh, now I feel bad. A banana split is so much better then boring chocolate. Why didn’t you get another one?” I asked. “I guess I just wasn’t feelin’ the banana anymore.” He said. “Okay,” I said laughing. “Well I gotta go, I’ll probably see ya around, hopefully not like this again.” I said pointing to my shirt. “Yeah, I hope not either. Hey, do you think I could get your number, so we could keep in touch.” I didn’t have my phone with me because Tim still had it. Maybe I could convince him in letting me have it back. I gave him my number and told him to text me later so I had his. I walked back to the car and got in. I looked over and Ryan was just starring at me. “Is something wrong?” I asked. “No, it’s nothing.” He answered. “Whatever.” I mumbled. The rest of the way was awkwardly quiet. When I walked in the first thing I did was try to find Tim. I found him outside reading some book. Lately me and him have been getting along really well so maybe he’ll let me have my phone back, I hope. “Hey Tim, can I ask you something?” I said. He put his book down and nodded. I sat down in one of the chairs next to him and took a deep breath. “Can I have my phone back?” I asked not looking at him. “Sure, why the hell not.” “But come on- wait did you say yes?” I said turning to look at him. He chuckled. “Yes I did. I figured now that you guys have stayed here a while you might want to talk to other people, as long as it’s not the police or anything.” He said smiling. “Thank you so much!” I said. “No problem. Ask Ryan to get it for you and if he asks tell him I said you could have it.” “Alright. Thanks again.” I gave him a quick hug and ran inside. “Hey Ryan, Tim said I-” I stopped right in my tracks as I saw Ryan and this girl making out on the couch. I ran upstairs and heard Ryan say, “Rose wait!”
