The Phone Call Chapter 4 As we were sifting through some tube tops
in American Eagle, I glanced over at Alicia. She seemed to be
daydreaming from the way she barely touched the rack of clothing. I
couldn't take any long. My curiousity was killing me, "Whats up
with you and Marcus?" She immediately turned her gaze towards me
and quickly stuttered, "N-n-nothing. When did you see us even
talking?" She eyed me suspiciously. "Outside the mall. You were
just there with him" Alicia attempted to make a puzzled face but
knowing her for more than 10 years, I know she's lying. She has
always been such an awful liar. I shrugged it off for now, knowing
she would never tell me the truth. We spent a couple more minutes
before trying on the clothes so far and buying the keepers. Alicia
giggled to herself quietly. My eyes darted to her. She had her fist
delicately placed infront of her mouth as she laughed silently. Her
shoulders sagged down purposely. I would have ignored her but its
so hard trying to when shes laughing to herself like some freak. I
rolled my eyes and curled my arm into hers. I dragged her off to
the food court where I ordered each of us chicken caesar salads
with diet Cokes. Alicia is on some sort of diet, and I'm trying to
stay fit for my party tomorrow. Afterall, everyone will be there.
It'll be at a hotel in the wonderous city of Miami. Eventually, my
crazy best friend shut up and started munching silently on her
salad. I took a sip from my soda. The one question still remains,
"How close are Alicia and Marcus?" *** My shopping trip didn't go
as planned because Alicia was giggling more than half the time. I
waved goodbye to Beth, Alicia's 21-year old sister who dropped me
off, and started for the door. I fumbled around with my keys until
I successfully opened the door. I looked to the right and read the
clock. 7:36. I barely noticed Mom and Dad on the couch, cuddling
while sipping wine together. Honestly, they look like little 8th
grade lovers. The television had on what I think was The Proposal.
Mom's absolute favorite movie. Ethan was apparently sleeping over
his friend's house tonight. Great. Stuck..the night before my
birthday with two lovebirds. My stomach growled, even if I had just
ate 2 ½ hours ago, I felt starving. I stealthily sneaked my way
into the kitchen, taking a granola bar, a fat-free brownie, and
some water. I tip-toed up the stairs and shut my door gently.
Wouldn't want to distrupt the little lovebirds. I unwrapped the
granola bar while switching on my tv. Perfecto. My E! News was on.
Not even 5 minutes in and my phone buzzed. I took it out with my
free hand and read the text message, "hey babe wanna head to my
place for some early 'fun' if ya no wat i mean ;))" Alicia must
have accidently sent it to me. Who could she have meant to send it
to? I shuddered. Whoever it was, was not supposed to have me know
it. Alicia...secret's out.
