Also, usually when one person is overwhelmed by something like exams, everyone is too, which leads to tension. Don't think you're the problem, because they were just preoccupied and you were the person that had to deal with it. Chin up!
Sit with your legs straight out in front of you and try to touch your toes.
Try to do front splits (one leg in front, one behind).
Try to do side splits (both legs to their respective sides).
Hold each for one minute, and after a few days you should see progress!
I also recently heard that standing on those muscle massagers (for athletes) on your arch can relax and elongate your leg muscles so you can more easily stretch afterwards.
