Love Can Be Found in the Most Unexpected
Places...
Chapter 4
The bell for the end of the day finally rang and I was so ready
to get home. Sam was still mad at me, for no reason at all. She
should be happy for me. Right? I saw my mom pulling around the
corner and I walked out to meet her. I opened the door to the
front seat and got inside. "So, how was your first
day?" my mom asks. "Great. Nobody recognized me. And
Jacob Hemmerson asked me out on a date tomorrow night!" I
told her excitedly. "That's great. Isn't he the
boy you've had a crush on forever?" she asked. She was
right. I had liked Jacob ever since kindergarten. He never
noticed me because of my weight and lack of self esteem to talk
to people. "Yeah, he is, so can I go?" I was hoping
she would say yes. "I guess so. Tomorrow is a
Friday." Mission complete. I got home and ran upstairs to
see if I had a dress for my date with Jacob. After looking
through my closet for a few minutes, I couldn't find
anything to wear. I would need to go shopping. I ran
downstairs. "Mom, can I go to the mall to get a new dress
for my date?" I figured she would say no, because of all
the money they spent buying me clothes for my new figure.
"Sure, sweetie, I'll drive you." We got in the
car and mom drove me to the mall. I was fixing to get out.
"Here is $200 dollars to find a decent dress and some for
food. Go ahead and get dinner. I have to go to a work meeting
and I'll pick you up in 2 hours." I took the money,
gave her a hug, and jumped out. The mall was so huge and I
didn't know which store to go in first. I finally decided
on Wet Seal, because I loved all of the styles they sold. I
walked inside and found a rack with a few dresses. I was
looking and there was a girl looking too. "Hi, you must be
looking for a dress too." I said. I usually tried to not
make conversation with people, but with my newfound confidence,
I found it so much easier. "Yeah, I am. I'm going on a
date this weekend and I need to find the perfect dress. None of
these are making the cut." she said back. I introduced
myself and she did as well. Her name was Jordan. She had long
blonde hair and really pretty blue eyes. She was super skinny
too. She didn't go to my school, unfortunately, because I
could use a new friend. We walked around the mall together and
looked for some dresses in different stores. I finally found
one at Forever 21. It was black and sleeveless. The bust area
had gorgeous rhinestones and it cut just above the knee. I
picked out a pair of heels to pair with it and I was finished.
We finally found Jordan a dress and I still had about 45
minutes left, before mom came to pick me up. "Wanna grab
some food?" Jordan asked. I really was starving.
"Sure." We made our way to the food court and decided
to get some from Chick-Fil-A. I had a chicken sandwich and
fries with a coke. I scarfed the meal down. It tasted so good.
"Mind if I go to the restroom?" I asked about ten
minutes later. "Sure, go ahead. I'll watch your
stuff." I was really glad she didn't ask to tag along.
I walked into the bathroom and there was one other person in
there. Luckily she was washing her hands and would leave soon.
As soon as she left I puked all of my food up. I felt happy
again and popped in a breath mint. I walked back to the food
court to meet Jordan. We went outside and I saw my mom. I got
in the car and headed home. Tomorrow was my date with Jacob. A
date I had been waiting for my whole life.
