Lies
Chapter 2
"She ain't my girlfriend..Crystal is just a good friend," Cole
smiled meekliy, moving to the side to let the guy get to his
locker.
The blonde boy stared at us for a while, his eyes fixed on me and
then his mouth curved into a smile.
"Erh...you new here?" Cole asked, putting his phone away back in
his pocket again.
The blonde boy looked at him and smiled. "Yeah, just got shifted
here from my old school in new york,"
New york?
And he moved here to the countryside?
Wow...
Life must be pretty rough for him.
"I am Cole," My best friend extended his hand out.
"Brett," He smiled, warmly, taking Cole's friendly gesture, and
shaking his hand.
Brett?
Sounds like a nice name.
My eyes locked on the two boys.
Silence hung between the three of us.
"So...you thinking of trying out for any of our school teams?"
Cole asked, to break the awkward silence.
"Haha, yeah...I was thinking more football, but the guy told me
that there were no spaces.." A frown appeared on Brett's
face.
A smile curved on my face.
He looked cute when he frowned.
Cole eyes glanced at me for a second and then a grin appeared on
his face.
"Well...I'll see what I can do..I mean we would all love to have
you on the team..-" Cole was cut off by Brett.
"N-no...It's fine...I mean-" His eyes fixed on me again. "Its
fine," He whispered.
Cole smirked again. "You sure? I mean..Crystal here would love to
see you play for our school," Cole's hand automatically grabbed
me by the waist, to pull me towards him.
Brett turned to me again, biting his lip, softly. "Sweet name," A
pleasant smile curved on his face. "-Erh..I mean, I'll try out
today, then,"
Cole looked at me and then Brett.
I could see the fear and hesitation in Brett's eyes so clearly.
"So..I'll see you guys again sometime," He whispered. "Bye Cole,
Bye..Crystal," He finished my name with a soft smile.
I shone a grin back at him, to reveal my pearly whites. "Bye,
Brett," I finished.
He was gone...
A frown emerged unto my face.
From the corners of my eyes, I could see Cole staring at me, with
a grin on his face.
I looked at him. "Don't say a word about him,"
Cole narrowed his eyes. "You like...that?" He pointed at the
direction Brett had left us from. Hints of amusement and disgust
in his voice.
"Yes," My voice a bare whisper.
A smirk plastered on Cole's face. "He is the most uglie-"
I cut Cole off. "I told you...Don't say a word about him,"
"Yeah...You're right...I mean it's not his fault he is so
ugly...and so ugly...and so butterz and so..ugl-"
I covered Cole's mouth with my hand to prevent him from talking,
but only ended up getting it bitten.
A scream escaped my mouth. "You son of a-... squirrel..." I
blocked my curse out into faint whisper as Mr.Goddard walked past
us.
We were lucky he was too busy looking at his documents in his
hand, or we would have been dead.
"What did you say?.." Cole stared at me. Clear amusment in his
glistening blue eyes. "squirrel?" He laughed, nodding his head
back and forth like a prince.
A weak smile covered my face.
My face flourished with embarassement.
I was pretty sure some other people heard me say that to
Cole.
"Alright...Enough talk out Brett...I have English first- and you
have science" Cole looked at his scrunched up new timetable that
he had taken out from his pocket.
"Yep," I smiled.
"Well that's unfair...Your class in right there, and I am all the
way in the other block," He murmered under his breath.
A grin appeared on my face, as I overheard what he said.
"Bye, Cole," I yelled, as I opened the doors to my new Science
class..
"See ya, babe," Cole yelled back.
I sighed.
A new class?
-with hardly any people I know?
Science is offically my worst subject for this year-..
"Hey Crystal," A fimiliar voice came from behind.
I turned around to see Brett standing at the door with his
signature smile on his face.
Or maybe not.
