Last Friday Night
chapter 10

Author's note** I don't know much about the court system, so if I'm wrong about anything, sorry!**

The next week was dreadful. Police, being questioned, court, just a drag.
I couldn't wait until it was over so me and Shane could just relax, stress free.
I found myself unable to even step into my room, let alone sleep on that bed. I slept on the couch, and my parents allowed Shane to stay over whenever he could. I would fall asleep in his arms and
wake up in the middle of the night screaming, or crying
with Shane comforting me.
I just wanted it to end, this was torture. Every time I had to make a statement in court, or they demonstrated something, I started tearing up.
Luke and his lawyer decided it was best to plead guilty. He would be put in jail for a few years and it was recommended to his parents that he attend anger management classes and therapy to work out his problems. Knowing his parents, they would make him do it. When the week was over, I found myself kind of distant from society. I hadn't left the house unless it was for the trial,
and I hadn't done anything but lay around doing nothing but cry.
As soon as Luke was put in jail and everything was over,
Shane decided it would be good for me to go out.
"But i don't want to," I whined.
"Darling, you can't just watch sad movies forever! I don't want to push you, but I also don't want you hiding from the world and putting up barriers,"
he sighed and continued, "your friends have been asking about you, people miss you, Ava." I agreed and asked him where he wanted to go.
"Billy Lewis is having a party, if you don't want to go that's fine."
I know he said it was fine, but I could tell he missed his friends too.
He was too sweet to make me feel badly about keeping him inside all week.
"Ok," I agreed, "but if I want to go home, can you tae me home?"
"Of course Ava, thanks so much! I love you, and trust me, you'll have fun."
He went home to get ready and left me to get ready as well.
I took a shower and stood in the doorway of my room. It's time, I thought.
My mom hugged me reassuringly.
"Do you want me to come in too?" She offered, but I shook my head.
I hesitantly took a step, and slowly made my way to the closet.
"The police made sure there was nothing of his in the entire house."
She knows me all too well, I was paranoid he had a camera or something hidden. I walked into my closet and got out a cute outfit.
It's over, nothing is gonna happen to me, I told myself.
When I finally got ready I looked in the mirror and
there was nothing different about me; funny how make-up can hide pain...
When I got downstairs, Shane was talking to my parents.
"Hey baby, ready to go?" He smiled and I knew everything would be alright.

Last Friday Night
chapter 7

The whole time me and Shane were on our date I was out of it.
I'm a terrible actor so I'm sure he knew something was wrong, but he didn't say anything... Yet. The waitress came over to take our orders.
"Hello I'm Tina and I'll be your server this evening."
She was being flirty with Shane and I didn't like it.
I've always been the jealous type, and I didn't think I could take another minute of her kissing up to my boyfriend. She finally walked away and now Shane definitely noticed something was up.
"Ava, what's wrong? You've been acting strange all night."
"Nothing."
"I'm not stupid, what is it? Tina?"
"Why would I have a problem with Tina?"
"Because she's flirting with me," he laughed.
"So you noticed?"
"Yes, but what was I going to do? She could've spit in our food!"
"I'm not jealous," I said without making eye contact.
"I never said you were," He lifted up my chin and went to kiss me, but I turned away. "Why don't you save it for Tina?"
He burst out in laughter and people stared, but then went back to eating.
"Look, Ava, I love you and only you. And I know you feel the same way, no matter how many guys flirt with you, I don't have a problem because I know you love me and only me," he said calmly.
"Of course," I said feeling guilty.
"Who is it? Luke?" He looked upset, but more interested in what I had to say.
"No one Shane, you're my one and only."
"You're lying. There's someone else," he got up quickly from the table and started running his hand through his hair.
"Calm down Shane, I just have some things to figure out," I said grabbing his arm. "I need some air," he stated while rushing out the door.
Tina came out with our drinks and gave me a look.
"What's wrong?" she asked, but it seemed more like what did you do to him?
I told her we would be right back and went out after Shane. He was sitting on the curb of the street with his head between his legs.
"Shane, I-I'm sorry. I met this guy and I felt sparks. It could be nothing, but I'm not in charge of my emotions! I was trying so hard to convince my brain it was only you, but I'm so confused." I sat down next to him and put my head on his shoulder.
"The one thing I need right now, is for you not to give up on me. I just need to figure this out. I love you, and I don't want you to leave me," I begged.
He took my hand and looked up at me with those incredible shining eyes that I fell madly in love with. "I just want you to be happy. But I don't want to give you up either," he said, and I could tell he was hurt.
We walked back in and had an extremely fun night. People were still staring from our little scene before, but we didn't mind.
"I will always love you Ava, never forget that." I smiled at that and kissed him. "Why did I get so lucky?" I asked. "I was just thinking the same exact thing," he said. Tina looked furious that we were back together, and we were both laughing over that in the car ride home.
"I think it's you," I said smiling. I continued with, "I hope it's you."
He kissed me and smile against my lips.
"I hope so too."
Shane is the one. He has to be!

Last Friday Night
chapter 6

Author's note** I literally just realized I've been writing a story called Last Fridy Night.. no 'a'.
So I fixed it! I don't know if any of you even noticed, but as the author, it's pathetic that I didn't notice until now!! Next chapter, the underlining of the a won't occur, but I felt it was necessary for this one**

I woke up to a text from Shane, and 3 new voicemails from Luke.
I decided not to even listen to Luke's voicemails, but I opened Shane's text.
Shane:Hey baby(: I had such a great time last night and I hope you did too!
Same time tonight? let me know!

I wasn't even aware I fell asleep until I woke up. I finally got up after a few minutes of silent crying and staring at the ceiling fan turning.
I made my bed and walked down to the kitchen to find a note from my mom.
Daddy, Gracie, and I went out to breakfast! After being up all night, we decided it'd be better not to wake you. Don't burn down the house making yourself pancakes sweetie! xoxo -Mommy
I laughed at her note. She can always make me feel better, no matter how annoying she can get! While making myself pancakes I decided to have a glass of Nesquik. I saw that Gracie drew a picture for me in crayons. Me and her were holding hands and in the top it said "Feel bettr big sis!"
I must have been crying last night. I feel so badly! I probably woke up my entire family. I had my poptarts and checked the time.
11:13, just missed it! Oh well.
Because I had so much time, I decided to take a walk to the beach. It's not that far, but it's not that close. Whatever, I needed the exercise anyway!
I put on my older sister, Kate's college sweatshirt and shorts. Over the enlarged gray sweatshirt, you couldn't even see my shorts. I was walking on the beach along the water and some guy ran up and grabbed me from behind.
"There you are Logan! Look babygirl, I'm sorry about befo-"
I was mistaken for someone else's girlfriend! I wanted to say something, but I was scared to embarrass him!
"Excuse me, sir?" Did i really just call him sir? "I'm not Logan."
I turned to face him and he looked mortified! "I'm terribly sorry! My girlfriend Logan was wearing a gray sweatshirt just like that. And your hair! From afar you look so similar." He wiped the worried look off his face and laughed. "Sorry if you're liked scarred for life now," he grinned and put out his hand. "I'm Oliver Lewis." I shook his hand and introduced myself as well.
"Well it was nice meeting you, Ava, but i have to go find my girlfriend."
"Of course! Good luck finding her, and don't worry. I won't tell anybody about your little mix up! See you later?" I asked. "Thanks, but I'm only here until the end of summer, visiting my Grandpa. I really can't talk, sorry to be so rude." and he turned and ran to find Logan, waving goodbye to me.
I kept walking and wondered what he did wrong to this Logan girl.
This is one of those things you're just going to have to wonder about for the rest of your life, never to find the answer, I figured.
While i was walking I looked for a girl who would fit the description of Logan.
I couldn't find anyone. So many questions ran through my mind, including:
-Will I ever see Oliver again?
-Why isn't he coming back next summer?
-What did he do wrong?
-Will Logan forgive him?
-Will he even remember me in 5 years?

and the major question in my head;
-Why do I care so much?
I walked home and got ready for my date with Shane.
I can't wait to see where Oliver is taking me!
WAIT! NO! I mean Shane. Oh gosh... that's not good.
No, it's not a big deal, brain. Stop making me nervous!

I was trying to convince my brain it wasn't a mistake, and that in my subconscious, I planned on saying Oliver to start drama with myself.
I better go answer the door for SHANE! HA! See? I didn't mess it up...
I said goodbye to my family, and shut the door behind me thinking,
I'm insane.

Last Fridy Night
chapter 5

We got into his car and it started to rain. When we pulled up to my house
he got out and opened the car door for me. I jokingly gasped and asked,
"Chivalry still exists?" He laughed and then his face went straight again.
"I'm not normally this type of guy. But I want to be with you!
And since you deserve the best; to stay with you, I have to be the best."
We walked up to my front door holding hands and he started laughing.
"Do I look like a clown?" I questioned.
"I'd say a raccoon is  a better word choice," he chuckled and attempted to wipe my smeared makeup. "There's no hope," I explained.
"OK, well then goodnight my pretty little raccoon," he said and kissed my head softly. I walked inside and sat in my room.
Dancing around to my iPod and lip syncing with a "microphone" brush.
I was laughing really hard and having an amazing time.
No one in my house woke up because I had my headphones on.
When I got tired I went to close my blinds. I saw something bang up against the window. I took out my headphones and opened the window.
A figure stood on my lawn with a pile of pebbles and a guitar.
"Ava? Hello?" I'd recognize that voice anywhere, anytime.
Last time I heard it butterflies filled my stomach, but now it meant nothing.
"Luke, why are you here?"
"OK, I know you're mad at me, but I'm here to make it up to you."
He started to play "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" by The Beatles.
"I'm sorry Luke, but I found someone else. I mean, we never were dating anyway," I mumbled the last part, hoping he wouldn't hear it.
"Ava, I liked you and you liked me. We could've been perfect!"
He was on the verge of crying. "I'm sorry Luke, Shane is just the guy for me."
He had a look of confusion on his face. "Shane who?"
"Shane Harris," I said slowly.
"Shane Harris! He's going into his second year of college. You're going to be a junior in highschool next year."
I never asked him about his age. But he never asked me either.
Age doesn't matter when you're in love though, right?

"Have fun with college boy, but he's probably using you as his summer toy until college starts up again. Then there are COLLEGE parties and COLLEGE girls and COLLEGE everything! He'll forget you by the time school starts up again." Luke exclaimed, "Ava, I would never forget about you."
"Just get off my lawn Luke. You don't know a thing about Shane."
I closed the window and got into bed. I couldn't sleep though.
One line rung in my head over and over and over again:
He'll forget you.

Last Fridy Night
chapter 4

The kiss was long and perfect and passionate and perfect and did I mention perfect? When it was over he whispered something,
"I was rehearsing what I was going to say this very second. But looking into your eyes I completely forgot." I giggled and he held me in his arms.
"Will you be my girlfriend Ava Spencer?"
"Of course Shane Harris."
We lied there for twenty minutes, silent, but our eyes were speaking.
"We still have one more place to go," he broke the silence.
"Oh really? Is it fancy or is this OK to wear?"
"It's pretty elegant, but I suppose what you're wearing will do."
We got back in his car and he blindfolded me.
Occasionally he would kiss me and promise I wasn't being kidnapped.
I laughed and joked I was gonna have to call 911 if he didn't let me out soon.
When we pulled over he led me into a building. It was cold so he gave me his sweatshirt. It smelt just like him. He told me to take a step up and then took my blindfold off. I fell onto one of the inflatable obstacle course, gaining a six pack from laughing so hard.
We were in 'Jump Zone' which is a play area full of inflatable slides and courses.
"For the rest of the night, it's just you and me," he exclaimed, looking proud.
"I love it."
"I love you," he spoke softly.
"I love you too." He leaned in to kiss me and I pushed past him.
"I'm gonna win!" I chanted.
"No fair! You got a head start!" He raced after me through all the obstacles.
I ran and ran until I got to the top of the slide.
"Ha! I'm about to win. If I'm a winner that makes you a los-"
I didn't get to finish before he grabbed me and pulled me onto his lap down the slide. We both got up out of breath and laughing.
We kissed again, it was innocent. Like he had no intention of just playing me for my body. The rest of the night we slid down the slides, played bouncy boxing and went through all the courses. It was wonderful; he was wonderful!
I have never felt this way about someone so strongly before.
