The proposed theme for “Current Focus” in the midwinter issue of the Periscope is
HARMONY THROUGH INTERACTION
The goal os to highlight recent activities that you believe helped to foster harmony among diverse groups in our school by getting them to interact and to work together. We would also like to report your suggestions for future activities with this focus.
You are encouraged to attend a Periscope staff meeting at two o’clock on Wednesday, November 27, in Room AC 8 of the Activities Center to help in this effort. In addition to a brief Guest Editorial, we want to include three or four articles on this topic by some of you.
Please come and bring your ideas and suggestions with you.

November 14, Sandra Alexander PERISCOPE ARTICLE
Your proposed article for the midwinter issue of Periscope should be a winner. I like the title INCLUSION VS. EXCLUSION
The article is a few lines too long for the allocated space. I have marked some suggested cuts on the enclosed copy. Please consider these cuts along with the few other minor changes as you key your final copy.
After several informal testing activities with Alan Washburn, Ms. Davilos and I believe he should be sent to the Clinical Learning Center at the university for special testing and observation.
It appears to us that Alan exhibits not only deficient reading skills but also short attention spam and low motivation. Any one of these factors can result in poor performance. Two or three of them in combination certainly do.
Before we can make a referral, we must meet with Alan’s parents and get their approval. Can you be available for such a meeting in the Guidance Office at 4:30 next Wednesday? The Washburns are available at that time.
