I’ve been a walking heartache
I’ve made a mess of me
The person that I’ve been lately
Ain’t who I wanna be

But you stay here right beside me
And watch as the storm blows through
And I need you

Cause God gave me you for the ups and downs
God gave me you for the days of doubt
And for when I think I lost my way
There are no words here left to say, it’s true
God gave me you
Gave me you

There’s more here than what we’re seeing
A divine conspiracy
That you, an angel lovely
Could somehow fall for me
You’ll always be love’s great martyr
And I’ll be the flattered fool
And I need you

Chapter Seven
Parker's Point of View

Aunt Laura pulled in to the parking lot of the restaurant she had mentioned earlier.  It was quaint to say the least. This really was a small town.
Inside we were seated in a booth and given our menus. After ordering our drinks and meals silence fell upon us again.
I played with the place setting and tried to look busy.
“So,” Laura took a sip of her lemon ice tea. I glanced up at her and saw she was twiddling her thumbs. This must be as awkward for her as it was for me. “I probably should mention you have school tomorrow.”
“Seriously?” I said, raising my eye brows. She was going to make me go to school the day after I arrived?
“Seriously.” She nodded. “Sorry sweetie.”
“Whatever.” I sighed and propped myself up so I was sitting straighter.
“Where do you live?” I inquired, curious.
“Just down the road.” My aunt said. “It’s a beautiful house. I think you’ll really like it.”
“What’s it like here?” I asked disregarding her last comment.
“I like it. I haven’t gotten tired of it yet.” She said and smiled. “The people are wonderful.”
“Cool.” I said and went back to playing with my place mat.
“I’m sorry she made you leave.” She said sincerely, looking me right in the eye.
For some reason, that phrase made me think of my dad, and how my aunt refused to let him stay at her house when he was kicked out of mine. I felt anger begin to rise inside me.
“Is that what you told my dad?” I asked harshly. Laura looked taken aback by what I said. Her face hardened and she leaned in close.
When she spoke she spoke evenly but callous.
“Parker let’s make one thing clear.” She closed her eyes for a split second, as if she was collecting her thoughts. “You don’t know me, so until you take the time to do so, you have no right to judge me.”
“Fine.” I snapped and pushed away from the table. “Then the same goes for you.”
I walked away and didn’t look back, unaware she had her face buried in her palms.
Outside wind whipped my hair around my face.  I looked to the right and saw a string of houses. That must be where she lived, where I would have to live. There was still a little light out. I looked at each one of the houses. They all looked the same.
Great. The third house on the strip had the garage open. Someone was working on a car I think. I made my way up to them, hoping to ask for directions.
I walked to the top of the driveway and stood just outside the garage. I looked around for the person I had seen just moments before but they were nowhere to be found.
“Hello?” I said hoping for a reply. I was about to take a step inside when a voice sounded from behind me.
“Who are you.” They said gruffly. I turned around quickly. In front of me stood a muscular boy covered in oil and grease that looked about my age. He was looking at me with a hard expression that scared me a little bit.
“I-I was just looking for s-someone.” I fumbled with my words.
“Well you came to the wrong place.” He mumbled and pushed past me. He laid on the ground and rolled himself under the car he was working on.
“Please. I um am looking for my Aunt’s house. Laura? Maybe you know her?” I asked hopefully. My breathing was uneven as I awaited for his response.
There was some  rattling and clanking as he continued to work on the car. I sighed and turned away.
“Thanks for the help.” I whispered under my breath. Behind me I heard the sound of loose wheels on pavement. I glanced behind me to see him rolling out from underneath the car. He wiped his face with his sleeve.
“Two houses that way.” He jabbed his thumb in the direction he spoke of.
“Thank you.” I said gratefully.
“Yeah yeah.” He snapped.
I walked away for good this time, hoping everyone else in this town weren’t as rude as he appeared to be.

Chapter Six
Parker's Point of View

I jolted awake from the turbulence of the plane as we landed safely on the ground. I pulled out my headphones and sat up, still sleepy.

“Thank you for riding Delta Airlines, please enjoy your stayin Galena, Illinois.” The flight attendant announced. I grabbed my stuff and hurried off the plane.

In the air port there were people everywhere. It would have helped if I knew what my aunt looked like. I scanned the crowds for anyone that might resemble my father.

My gaze landed on a woman off to my left. She had a slim figure, long dark brown hair, and chestnut eyes. My dad’s eyes. I would know them anywhere.

Once she spotted me, her face lit up and her mouth formed a beautiful smile.

“Parker!” She yelled and waved to me. “Over here!”

I sighed. “Well here goes nothing.” I mumbled to myself and made my way over to where she was standing.

“Hey there.” She said and smiled again. “Gosh, you’ve grown since I last saw you!”

I forced a smile, but didn’t say anything. She must have taken my silence for the struggle of carrying all my luggage. Her eyes widened and she practically lunged toward me.

“Here, let me help you.” Before I could push her away she took my suitcase and back pack, relieving some of the weight.

“I’m Laura.” My aunt said. “Your mom did tell you about me right?”

I nodded.

“Alright, well we should probably get going. We can talk more in the car.” She turned and lead the way out of the air port.

Once in the car she started the engine and began to drive down the high way.

“You hungry or something?” Laura asked, not taking her eyes off the road.

I shook my head. As if to contradict me, a few seconds later my stomach growled loudly and I heard a soft giggle escape my aunt’s lips.

“I know a good place near town, but it’s about a half hour away. That okay?” Laura glanced at me this time.

I nodded again.

“I know you can speak.” She said, smirking. “When you were little you never shut up.” Laura laughed again.

Silence filled the car. The only noise was the soft sound of rain drops pelting the windshield.

“How old was I when you moved?” I asked finally breaking the silence. My curiosity had won me over. I continued to stare out the window though, and watched as the landscape changed from pavement and buildings to trees and old houses.

“For a second there I was beginning to think you were mute.”
I could almost hear the smile in my aunt’s voice. I rolled my eyes and sighed, causing the window to fog up.

“Well I’m not.” I said, annoyed. “So how old was I?”

“You were six.” She said, her tone even.

“I don’t remember you.” I shook my head.

“You were young.”

“Why’d you move away?” I asked.

“I needed a change of pace.” She said confidently.

“I don’t like change.” I mumbled, not thinking she had heard me, but she did.

“I hate to break it to you sweetheart, but change is life.”

Chapter Five
Parker's Point of View

The drive home felt shorter than the drive to Holden Beach
and the entire time I only had one person on my mind. Jack. The mysterious boy
who I will probably never see again.
He had kissed me last night, turning my world upside down.

My mom wasted no time at all. As soon as our car reached our
house in Madison, North Carolina she told me to go upstairs and pack my things.

The flight to Illinois was departing later that day and I
knew there was no way my mom would let me miss it.

We were on the road again about two hours later.
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=47717712
After going through security and the various check points my mom and I stood face to face
but not making eye contact. She was, after all forcing me to leave my home, my
friends, and my school to go live with someone I didn’t like.

“Tell your Aunt I wish her the best.” Mom mumbled, breaking
the silence. I rolled my eyes, and gave her a harsh stare.

“Don’t count on it.” I said.

“This is better for the both of us Parker.” She sighed.

“No I’m pretty sure this is better for you.” I said
confidently.

“Would you stop the complaining, suck it up, and just do
what you’re told?”

“Whatever you say mom.” I sighed and reached down to pick up
my carry on. “I’ll miss you.” I admitted, because underneath all the arguments
and the yelling I would rather be living here with a mom who doesn’t love me
than with someone I despise.

“Yes well, you’d better go now, or your flight will leave
without you.” She nodded toward the flight deck.

I shook my head with disgust at how emotionless she was. She
was sending her only child away and she didn’t even care. I felt tears
threatening to pour from my eyes.

It was a long shot, but after all these years I always hoped
that she loved me even though she never actually showed it. I guess I was
wrong.

On that note I turned away from her and walked toward the
flight attendant collecting the tickets. I handed her mine  and before I stepped away, I took one last
look behind me at my mom.

But she was already gone.

I took my seat on the plane and gazed out the window. The seat
next to me stayed open so I propped up my legs and put in my headphones,
blocking out the rest of the world.

Chapter Four
Jack's Point of View

As we walked towards Parker’s car I got the chance to notice all the little things about her that I never saw before. Like how she
constantly plays with a piece of her hair or how her dimples show when she smiles.

“Do you live around here?” I asked.
I felt my stomach do twists and turns while we trudged in the sand. Parker made me feel uneasy, but
it was in a good way. I don’t know how to explain it, she just made me want to know more about her. Everything she did pulled me in.

“No,” She shook her head. “I live in Madison.”

“How long are you staying here?” I asked hopefully. I would be leaving in about a week to go back to school.

“I leave tomorrow morning.” She sighed, and I swear I heard disappointment in her voice. I didn’t say anything back because I knew she would be able to tell I was disappointed too.

We stayed silent for the next few minutes. As we neared her car Parker turned towards me and forced a smile.

“Thanks for inviting me tonight.” She said and held out her hand. I stared at it for a moment then stretched out my arm.

“Thanks for coming.” I shook her hand but didn’t let go.
Instead I pulled her in towards my chest and wrapped my arms around her. Parker tensed up at first, but then gave in and let herself melt into me. We eventually pulled away.

She ducked away from my view but I knew she was smiling. I opened her car door for her. She nodded gratefully and got in the car. I shut the door and leaned on the open window on the driver’s side.

Parker’s Point Of View

I knew if I looked into his eyes I wouldn’t be able to drive away. He just made me feel so god damn happy.

I avoided his stare even though I knew he could see me blushing. I started the engine and took one last risky glance his way. His deep sea blue eyes were still twinkling in the dim light. Our faces were only a few inches apart.

He was still a stranger to me but I would have given anything for him to kiss me right then and there.

As if reading my mind Jack leaned forward and put his mouth close to my ear.

“It was nice to meet you Parker.” He whispered, “I hope we see each other again.”

Then he pulled a loose strand of hair away from my eyes and pressed his lips to mine.

There has never been a moment in time where I’ve felt so alive.

Chapter Three
Parker's Point of View

Parties have never really been my thing… I’ve never really been invited to one. As I walked down the beach to where Jack had said the bonfire was, I played with my fingers and tried to act natural. I was nervous…I didn’t know any of these people, only Jack, and technically I didn’t really know him either.
http://www.polyvore.com/parker/set?id=47640686
I guess I was in the right place because I could see the fire and it was huge. It was probably at least ten feet high. There were
already a lot of people gathering around it.
I looked around for Jack and hoped he would see me. I probably looked like an idiot standing there all by myself.

Someone’s hands came around from behind me and covered my eyes.
“Guess who.” They said in a weird voice making me laugh.

“Hm… could it be Jack?” I asked. The hands pulled away, allowing me to turn around. Jack stared back at me. The light from the fire reflected incredibly in his deep sea blue eyes.

“I’m glad you came.” He smiled. “Come on, I’m going to introduce you to some people.” He lead me through the crowd and came upon a small group of people standing together off to the side.

There were three girls and four boys. They all glanced at me then looked expectantly to Jack.

“Parker, these are my friends from NC: Shawn, Scott, Leah, Bridgett, Max, Sydney,  and Wes.” Jack pointed to everyone as he said their names. “Guys, this is Parker.”

They were all really nice and said hello. Then I heard some shouting off to my left and realized someone had just brought over a keg. Fantastic.

All of Jack’s friends, including Jack, started heading immediately for it. Instead of following I took a seat on one of the logs and
stared at the fire.

“Do you want anything to drink?” Jack asked as he came over and sat by me. He was holding a plastic red cup and sipped it slowly.

“Um no thanks, I don’t drink.” I said uncomfortably.

“Do you want anything else? Sprite? Coke?”

“Sprite would be good.” I smiled.
He nodded and I watched him as he walked towards a cooler a little ways away from the fire.

My attention switched back to staring at the fire.

I almost jumped out of my skin when someone plopped down next to me.

“Hey there.” He swooned.
I could smell beer on him and I felt the urge to throw up.

I was fully aware of how he was pressed against me. I pushed myself away and slid farther down the log.

“Where ya goin.” He smiled and scooted right up against me again. I rolled my eyes.

“Away from you.” I said under my breath and got up.
I walked in the direction Jack went. I glanced behind me a few times to make sure I wasn’t being followed by that guy. Luckily he was nowhere in sight. I breathed a sigh a of relief and turned my attention back to walking forward.

I slammed right into someone and we both fell backward onto the sand. I yelped and caught myself with my hands before the rest of me could hit the ground.

“Parker?” They said, getting a good look at me.
I recognized the voice to be Jack’s. I felt my face redden with embarrassment. He stood up and brushed sand off of his legs, bent down, and pulled me up in one swift movement.

“S-sorry…” I trailed off, my cheeks still felt like they were on fire.

“Where were you going?” He asked and I swore I heard a little disappointment in his voice.

“I was actually looking for you…” I admitted. “There was this guy that wouldn’t leave me alone.”

“Who?” Jack asked scanning the crowd.

“It doesn’t matter, I actually think I should be getting home anyways…” I trailed off. Parties really aren’t my thing, they never have been.

“Are you sure?” He asked.

“Yeah.” I said sheepishly. “Thanks for letting me come though.” I smiled at him. His eyes twinkled and their color reminded me of the ocean, mysterious but beautiful.

“No problem.” He beamed. “Do you need a ride home?”

“No it’s alright, my car is parked a little ways down there.”
I pointed in front of us and about two hundred yards away sat my silver mustang that I adored.

“I’ll walk you.” He said, not really giving me a chance to
say no.

YourOne&Only

Chapter One
Parker's Point of View

I rested my elbows on the board walk and zoned off out into
the distance. I hummed my favorite song and watched as surfers rode the waves.
Mist showered over me and the wind whipped my hair around my face.

I turned away from it all and made my way to the sand. I
slipped my shoes off easily and let the sand fill in between my toes. There
were small sand dunes all around. You could see for miles down the coastline
and the view was amazing.

It was my last day of spring break in Holden Beach, North
Carolina. I actually live in Madison, NC. But every damn year my mom makes me
come here so she can see some of her friends from high school. Tomorrow, however,
we’d be parting ways.  My mom is shipping
me off to Galena, Illinois to finish off my junior year. She claimed I was becoming
“too much to handle anymore”. She is completely put off because in actuality
she’s the naive one. Most of the time she spends the nights at her boyfriend
Mark’s house. My mom and my dad split up years ago. Dad died last summer in a
motorcycle accident and ever since then I haven’t been myself. He was the only
one who ever really understood me.

So no dad, basically no mom, and now I’m off to live with an
aunt I’ve never even met before. Her name is Laura I think… During the few
times that my mom actually talked to me she told me Aunt Laura was dad’s
sister, but they never got along. She said dad had asked to live with her after
my parents got the divorce and she turned him down. So to make a long story
short,  I pretty much already hate the woman.

I sighed and sat down in the sand. I pulled my sunglasses
off and rested them on my head.

Behind me I heard someone running. Sand flew around their
feet and as they ran past a gust of wind followed.

They stopped on the dime and looked around anxiously. They
looked like a boy around my age. He was breathing heavily when he turned around
and jogged over to me.

“Hey can you do me a favor?” He asked, his dark blue eyes
piercing mine. He had golden brown hair and nice features. Overall, a pretty
good looking guy. I was never too popular in school. I mean I had friends but
we weren’t the “barbies” of the grade, so since I wasn’t used to guys sprinting
over to talk to me,  I was a little
flustered.

“Um, sure?” I said, hoping my voice sounded normal.

“Great,” He grinned and flashed his white teeth. “I need you
to tell those guys that I went that way.” He pointed towards the
thin strip of coast line.

“Okay…” I replied. Just before I turned away I watched him
as he ducked behind a sand dune. I looked away completely and saw off in the
distance three buff guys sprinting in my direction.

YourOne&Only

Chapter One
Preface

3 Months Forward

“What are we supposed to do?” I asked him desperately.
I couldn’t imagine being apart but even worse, I couldn’t imagine seeing him every day knowing he belongs to someone else.
A much prettier and kinder someone else.
Someone that is a better match for him. Someone that could make him happier than I can.

“I don’t know.” He sighed looking defeated. He put both hands on my shoulders. “I don’t want to lose you.” He whispered and pressed his forehead against mine.

His words brought tears to my eyes and I almost started crying right then and there.

“Same here.” I mumbled. My throat felt like it was closed shut, and there was silence for a few seconds.

“But I don’t want to lose her either.” He sighed in frustration.
Everything froze.
Time, my heart, my steady breathing all just stopped. I blinked and stared deeply into his sapphire eyes that I had a tendency to get lost in.

“Of course you don’t.” I whispered and started to pull away.

“Wait. You don’t understand. She’s my best friend, I can’t hurt her.” I knew on the inside he was fighting a losing war. In order to
be with me he had to hurt her, but in order to spare her feelings he would end up hurting me. It was a lose lose situation.

“So you’ll hurt me. Okay, that’s cool.” I said and started to back away.

“I don’t want to hurt either of you! Especially you…” He grabbed me by the hand and pulled me into his chest. “I love you.”

I stayed silent, my mind was reeling. He leaned his head back so he could look me in the eyes.

“Well say something.” He pleaded. I took his arms from around his waist and placed them at his sides.

“I’ll say it back when I know I’m the only one.” I said finally and walked away.

New Story!! Wooo:)
