Tell me what you
think?
Summer and Lilly both pulled their phones out
and came over to me. I put my finger to my lips letting them know
to be quiet. I wrote a message as fast as I could on my phone and
showed it to them. It had said
“Help me move this bed stand out of the
way. Then help me push the bed in front of the door. Lay the bed
stand on its side. It’s long enough to have it touch the wall
and the bed so it will be hard to move the bed. Hurry and be
quiet.”
After they both read it we got straight to
action. I ran over to the other side of the bed while they moved
the nightstand out of the way. Then they ran over to me and helped
me push the king sized bed into a corner and against the
door. That’s when we heard his footsteps again. We scrambled
to the nightstand and pushed in to the floor so it was snug and
tight.
“Locking the door won’t keep me out
for long girls. But I will go find your little sister so I can give
you enough time to hide again. I love playing games.” The
mean man chuckled, and walked away.
I started to panic and a rush of anger fumed
through me like fire hitting gasoline. I pointed to the second
nightstand and to the floor. The girls helped me take everything
off the top and set it on the floor. We lifted the night stand
together and placed it like the second one. I pulled everyone into
the closet and shut the door. I took my dads gun from its hiding
spot under a stack of clothes and pulled it out. I grabbed four
rounds of bullets and then pulled the slot on my ceiling down which
revealed a set of stairs that led to my attic.
Without questioning me, Lilly and Summer went up
the stairs. I pushed an extra little dresser in front of the closet
door and followed up after them. I pulled the stairs up closing the
little slot and locked it. I searched for a flashlight and to my
luck I found one.
I shined the flash light around and found all my
old things, and this use to be my hideout room so I knew it by
heart. My attic was huge; it was almost a fourth of a floor. I
turned the flashlight on Lilly and Summer and I saw their terrified
expressions. Tears were streaming down both sides of their
faces.
I walked over to them and grabbed both of them
in a hug. I gently let go of hem to check to see if the magazine on
the gun was full and to my luck it was. It made a clicking sound
when I popped it back in and that’s when his voice started to
ring in my ears again.
“I killed you sister Sedona and your best
friend. Now who’s next?” The man yelled slamming on the
doors.
Summer started to whimper and I pulled them over to the other side
on the room and brought them under my blanket fort from when I was
a child.
“Listen,” I whispered to them but
then was interrupted by something slamming into wood. Crap. He has
an axe and was breaking the door down.
We don’t have much time. Summer I’m
going to have you jump into one of my old trunks that has my dress
clothes in it. I’m going to bury you under them and close the
trunk top. Lilly, I have a tiny secret compartment that
you’re small enough to fit into. I’m putting you in
there now come on.” I rushed the words out quietly.
I pulled both of them to the trunk first and opened it and pulled
everything out. Summer jumped into it and Lilly helped me cover her
with the play clothes. Before I covered her face, I kissed
Summer’s forehead and then placed a fake Cinderella dress
over her entire head and shut the trunk.
I rushed Lilly to the secret compartment
across the room. I pulled the loose piece of wood in the wall and
it opened. It was patted with blankets so it wouldn’t be too
uncomfortable. I could hear the man break the door down and hop
onto my parents bed.
“You’re smarted than I thought
cookies. But not smart enough!” he yelled.
I embraced Lilly in my arms and then pushed her into the
compartment and closed the little door. Then I ran and slid into my
blanket fort and stuck out enough where the fun could get a clear
shot of the man.
“Hiding in a closet ay? I thought only
monsters hid in there? Wait here I come!” The man chuckled to
himself.
I could hear him struggling against the door. You go little dresser
I cheered to myself!
BAM! The dresser knocked over and the door
squeaked open inch by inch. The man started grunting trying to push
the door open enough for him to get in.
Suddenly it got quiet enough that if a pen
dropped it would have echoed. I knew he was in the closet and then
out of no where the sounds of police sirens blasted through the
thick layer of quietness.
