Emily’s Pov:
"Emily." I heard Fletcher whisper. "Yeah?"
I mumbled sleepily. He kissed my cheek. "It's almost
four. We need to get our stuff ready." He said quietly. I
rolled onto my back and looked up at him and smiled. He leaned
down and kissed me. "Alright, come on." He said,
pulling me up off the bed. I slowly climbed out. "Fletch,
I'm not feelin too good." I said, clutching my
stomach. "Do you feel like you're going to throw
up?" He asked nervously. I nodded my head slowly. He ran
to the kitchen and grabbed a bucket. "Here." He said,
handing me the bucket. He brought me to his car and buckled me
in the front seat. "I'm going to bring you to the
hospital. Alright?" He asked. I nodded my head weakily,
and then threw up in the bucket. My eyes stung with tears.
"I'm sorry." I said. He shook his head.
"It's okay. You're not doing anything wrong.
There's no need to apologize." He said, closing the
door and running around to the other side and climbing in. We
got to the hospital within fifteen minutes. In that time, I had
thrown up four times. We pulled into a handicap parking, and
fletcher came around and took me out of the car taking the
bucket and dumbing it on the ground. He handed it back, and I
hugged it closely. He took my free hand, and walked me into the
hospital. "She needs to see a doctor right away." He
said to the secretary. "Well you're going to have to
wait in the waiting room with everyone else, young man."
The secretary said. "You don't understand she-"
"Go to the waiting room, or get out of the hospital."
The secretary angrily said. Fletcher grabbed my hand, and
pulled me to the waiting room. Everythin started to disappear.
I couldn't see anything, but I could hear everything.
"Fletcher," I said panicky. "I can't see
anything." I grabbed on to his hand tighter, and I heard
him scream. "We need a doctor. Hurry." Then
everything went quiet.
Fletcher’s Pov:
I watched as they put Emily on a stretcher, and took them into
the ER. I ran up to the secretary. "Can I go back with
them?" I asked. She shook her head. "I'm sorry,
but you can't until they have her all hooked up. I'll
let you know." I slowly walked back to the waiting room,
and took the farthest seat away from everyone. I sat down and
put my head in my hands, and let the tears fall. I felt a hand
on my back about a half an hour later, and I wiped my eyes. I
looked up to see the nurse. "You can go and see her. She
isn't doing to well though." She said. I got up, and
grabbed the nurses hand. "Thank you." I said, taking
off down to her room. I opened the door cautiously and peeked
in. She was laying in the bed, clutching a blue teddy bear.
"Hey Em." My voice cracked. "Hi Fletch."
She said quietly. I could hear how week she is, and it made
tears swell in my eyes. I closed the door, and slowly walked up
to her bed. I took her hand, and kissed her head. "I love
you so much." I said, putting my forehead to hers. I
closed my eyes, trying to stop the tears. "Fletcher, I
just want it to be over. I'm in so much pain." She
said weakly, tears streamed down her face. "Please keep
trying. I can't lose you." I said, kissing her
forehead. She put her hands on my neck, and kissed me.
"Fletcher, whatever happens happens. It's life."
She said. "I know, I just don't want it to." I
said, She mustered a small, weak smile. Which made me smile.
"Will you call Abi, and my mom?" She asked me. I
nodded my head and dialed her mom first. "Hello, Mrs.
Welsh?" I asked. "Yes, Fletcher. What is it?"
She asked. "It's Emily. I-I brought her to the
hospital. She started throwing up this morning, and then she
passed out." There was a pause. "I'm on my way.
Please let her know." Then the line went dead. Then I
dialed Abi's number. "Hello Fletcher." I heard
her say happily. "Will you come to the hospital? Emily
isn't doing to well, and she wants you to be here." I
said. I heard her gasp. "I-I'm on my way. I'll be
there shortly." She said, and then the line went dead. I
walked back over to Emily. "They're on there
way." She smiled sweetly at me. "Thanks Fletch, I
love you." I love you too." I said, kissing her
forehead.

Dillon’s Pov:
After the bonfire was out, I walked Abi home. I still had the
kiss on my lips, and I couldn’t be happier. I stopped,
and I pulled Abi into me from behind. “Get on my
back.” I whispered into her ear. She walked behind me,
and jumped on my back, and I took of running. We both laughed.
I brought her to a park close to her house. She sat on the
swing, and I pushed her. By ten o’clock, we moved from
the swings to seesaw, to the road. We laid in the middle of the
road looking up at the stars. Abi curled up next to me, and
held my hand. “Dillon?” Her voice was soft, and
sweet. “Yeah?” I asked, turning my head to look at
her. “How long?” I didn’t quite understand
her. “How long?” I asked. “Yes, how long have
you liked me?” She climbed up on top of me, and placed
her chin on my chest. “Sixth grade, when we first started
hanging out.” I smiled at her, and leaned up and kissed
her forehead. She lifted her head, and kissed me. I picked up
my head and kissed her back. She rolled off of me, and pulled
me on top of her. Is she thinking we’re gonna get it on
right here, right now in the middle of the road? I thought to
myself. I stopped myself, and pulled away. “Abs, we gotta
get you home.” I said standing up. I held out my hand.
She took it, and I pulled her up. I walked her home, and
brought her up to her door. “Thanks for a great
night.” She said hugging me. I could feel my face get
hot. “No problem, but I was wonderin’..” I
looked down at my feet. “Wondering what?” She
asked, grabbing my hand. “I want you to be my
girlfriend.” She smiled, and kissed me. When we finally
broke apart for air, she hugged me, and whispered in my ear,
“This has been the best night of my life.” Then she
disappeared inside. “Ditto.” I said, then I headed
home.
Fletcher’s Pov:
When my mom wasn’t obsessing over cats, she was drinking
and passing out from being to drunk. Most of the time, I was on
my own. I had to make my own dinner, and clean the whole house.
My mom would be passed out on the couch. I walked into the
couch to find my mom in the middle of the living room, face
down. “Mom, I’m home but you don’t care cause
your passed out on the floor.” I walked through the
living room, and went down the hall to my room. I slammed the
door shut, and laid on my bed. I closed my eyes for a brief
moment, but I slipped into sleep.
* * * * *
I opened my eyes, and looked around my room, forgetting I was home. I sat up, and suddenly got dizzy. The feeling passed, and I stood up from the bed. I looked at my clock. 12:45 am. It was saturday, homecoming day. I picked up my phone, and dialed Emily’s number. Reluctantly, she answered. “You’re super lucky I’m awake.” She laughed. “I needed to hear your voice.” I laid on my bed, and looked up at the ceiling. “Awe.” Her voice was so soothing. “Fletcher, come over.” I got up of the bed, and snuck out my window all though it wouldn’t have mattered. “I’m on my way.” I hung up the phone, and jumped into my car and drove to Emily’s house.
Young Forever
Emily’s Pov:
At home, I changed my shorts into sweatpants, and my tank top
to a t-shirt. Are you coming to the bonfire
tonight, I would really like for you to be my date to that
to. I smiled dumbly at my phone, at the text
Fletcher sent. Of course I am, why wouldn’t
I? haha (:. My fingers flew over the keyboard of
my phone. Cool, I’ll pick you up at
6.(: I clicked my phone shut, and smiled. I
hopped in the shower, and cleaned the little hair I had. My
hair looked like Ellen DeGenerous. After my shower, I pulled on
my jean shorts, and my white Phineas and Ferb t-shirt. I
applied my makeup, and then pulled on my perry the platypus
nike dunks. Oh how I loved those nike dunks. I grabbed my harry
potter quiditch jersey in case it got cold, and waited for
Fletcher to arrive. http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=33082050
6 o’clock rolled by, then 6:30, and then it was seven.
There was a knock on the door, and I pulled it open. Fletcher
stood there, with a smile on his face. I scowled at him.
“You’re late Fletcher” I pushed past him, and
walked to the car. He ran past me, and opened the door for me.
“Thanks.” I said, a little softer. I got in, and he
closed the door and ran around, and got in. “Sorry
I’m so late, I helped my mom tidy up the house.” He
started the car, and I looked out the window. “It’s
all right.” I turned to him, and he held out his hand. I
took it, and I smiled at him. “I love you
Fletcher.” This surprised me that I said it, but I
couldn’t take it back now. He would think I was crazy, or
weird. His hand tightened around mine. “Em, eight years
ago when I came to your house, I looked at you and with that
one look, I thought you were the most beautiful girl I had ever
seen. When we entered sixth grade, I started developing
feelings for you that I had never felt before. By the summer
going into seventh grade, I was going to tell you but then I
realized that we were moving to New York so I decided not to
tell you.” He glanced over at me, and I studied him. He
pulled the car over. “Really? Do you still think
I’m the most beautiful girl you’ve ever
seen?” I asked him. He nodded his head. “Of course
I do. Em, I love you.” I studied his face. “Kiss
me.” I whispered. He looked at me, and his eyes scanned
my face. He placed his hand lightly on the back of my neck. He
looked into my eyes for the longest time, then he leaned in and
kissed me.
Abi’s Pov:
I sat by the fire, Dillon right next to me. I leaned my head on
his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me
closer to him. “How have you been?” Dillon asked
me. He pulled me up onto his lap, and I placed my head on his
shoulder. “I’ve been great.” I wrapped my
arms around his waist. “When did you guys start
dating?” Nate Damon came up behind us. Nate was one of
Dillons friends. “Oh.” Dillon turned his head.
“We aren’t dating, we’re just friends.”
I climbed out of his lap, and sat beside him. “Yup, just
friends.” I crossed my arms, and shivered.
“I’m freezing.” I complained. Dillon pulled
off his football jacket, and placed it around my shoulders. I
pulled it around me, and buttoned the top button.
“Thanks.” I smiled and gave him a small peck on the
cheek. He smiled a flawless smile. Nate sat down next to
Dillon, and whispered in his ear. I didn’t hear what he
said, but I heard my name. Dillon looked over at me, and smiled
then turned back to Nate and nodded. “What?” I
leaned over, and got up in Nates face. “What did you just
say?” I asked more stern. “Nothing.” He got
up and left. “What did he say?” I begged. “Do
you... uh, like me?” Dillon looked at me. I let my hands
fall into my lap. “So, how have you been?” I tried
to change the subject, but he kept going right back to it.
“Don’t try to change the subject. Abi, I like you
and I want to know if you like me back because I don’t
want to embarrass myself.” I looked into his eyes, and I
saw it. I climbed into his lap, and I wrapped my arms around
his neck, and my legs around his waist. “Yes, of course I
do.” I leaned in, and I kissed him hard.
Abi’s Pov:
I flicked my eyes open, looking over at the clock. It was 6:15.
I had beat my alarm clock. I went my normal morning routine. I
took extra long in my shower this morning, thinking about the
day. I got out of the shower, and dried off. I took a long look
in the mirror at myself. I opened my closet, and took a look at
all of my clothes. I had to look extra good today for Dillon. I
decided I was gonna change my look a bit. I picked out my ivory
floral dress, and a love pendant necklace to accompany it. Then
I went into my moms room quietly, took her blue HOBO purse, and
her pink heels. I put on all my makeup, and decided to keep my
hair curled, then I placed my orange 'misty meadow'
headband on my head. http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=33027549
I was ready to take Dillons breath away. The bus pulled up, and
the doors swung open. I got up onto the bus, and sat in my
normal seat. "Abs, you look... Different!" I smiled
at her. "Dillon asked me to homecoming." She
screeched really loud, and the bus driver looked up.
"Quiet down please!" He said through the intercom.
"Sorry." Em and I laughed. "That's
awesome!" She said. I nodded my head, and my curls bounced
around my shoulders. At school, Em and I met up with Fletcher
at our lockers, and walked up to breakfast. We sat at the
table, and I felt a light tough on my shoulder. I turned
around, to see Dillon standing there. His smile lit up the
room, which made me smile. “Hey Dillon. Sit.” I
patted the seat next to me, and he sat down. “So,
you’re Emily?” He asked pointing in her direction.
“Yes.” She said with a little smile. “Nice to
meet you.” Dillon smiled, holding out his hand. Emily
took it politely, and they shook hands. We sat for a bit
talking about saturday, and the homecoming bonfire when the
bell went off. “See ya Abs, bye Emily” Dillon waved
as he stood up, and left the cafeteria. Em and I stood up, and
Fletcher walked us to our homeroom. Him and Em hugged, and we
went and sat in our usual seats. Mr.Tyler was absent, so Em and
I talked through the whole class. “So, I’m really
excited about the bonfire tonight.” Em smiled at me.
“Oh my goodness, me too.” I said, louder than I had
meant. “Is there something you would like to tell the
class Ms.Mills?” The sub, Mrs.Stewart, stood there with
her hands on her hips, staring intently at me. “Uh, no,
just asking Emily about the math equation.” Emily nodded
her head vigorously. She went back to doing the problem on the
board. The bell finally rang, and it was time for computer
tech. “Computer Tech is such a stupid class.” I
complained, throwing my head back. The teacher was Mr.Harrison.
He was older than time. His glasses were extremely thin, wire
rimmed, and he was bald. His tone was monotonous, and he put me
to sleep every class. “Okay class, your project today is
to make a keynote of your interests. There must be 45 slides.
Needs to include, likes, dislikes, family, friends, pets,
interests, hobbies, etc., etc.” Em and I looked at each
other, and rolled our eyes. Emily leaned over towards me.
“Dislikes; Mr.Harrison, Likes; When this class is
over.” We both laughed, causing a scene. Mr.Harrison
walked over to us and put his hands on our shoulders.
“May I speak with you two in the hall?” We stood
up, and followed Mr.Harrison to the hallway. We could hear
people giggle, and whisper. I turned and gave them all a thumbs
up and they laughed. “I will not tolerate you two
disrupting my class anymore.” He started once we were in
the hallway. “I have talked to the principle a few times,
and we have come to an agreement. This is not the only class
you have disrupted. We have decided we are splitting you two
apart in every class.” Em and I looked at each other, and
at the same time screamed, “NO! That’s not
fair.” Mr.Harrison shook his head. “Life’s
not fair girls, so enjoy your last class together.” We
walked into the room, out faces turned down. “This
sucks.” I heard Emily mumble. “I know, I hate this
school, and all of it’s teachers except Mr.Tyler.”
I mumbled back. Emily nodded her head, then we got back to
work.
Emily’s Pov:
I ran for the school as fast as I could, but it wasn't fast
enough. Fletcher grabbed my arm, and yanked me towards him. I
tried as hard as I could to get away but I couldn't, so I
just gave up. He pulled me into a hug, and I burst into tears.
"Fletcher, I don't want to go to homecoming because
I'm ugly, not because you asking me was boring." He
let his arms fall to his side. "YOU'RE NOT UGLY EM,
STOP SAYING THAT!" He shouted. I put my head in my hands.
Fletcher pulled me into a hug. "I'm sorry Em, but
you're not ugly." I escaped his grasp. Abi
walked up to me, and shoved me. It was a light shove though.
“Hey, what was that for?” I asked her. “I
don’t know, just felt like doing it.” She let out a
little chuckle. “Come on guys, it’s five
o’clock. We should get heading home.” Fletcher
said, motioning us forward. He grabbed my hand, and suddenly,
it was really hot.
Abi’s Pov:
Fletcher opened the car door, letting me in. Emily sat in the
front. Fletcher turned on the radio, and Young Forever was
playing. Hey hey we’ll be young forever, we’ll be
young forever til’ forever stops. I sang. “Wow,
you’re really good.” Fletcher said. “Thanks,
but not really.” I laughed. Em turned around and looked
at me. “Yeah, you’re not good, you’re
freaking amazing.” Emily screeched. We all laughed.
Fletcher pulled up to my house. “Bye guys, see you
tomorrow.” I said getting out of the car. They both
waved, and then they drove off. “Where have you
been?” My mother asked, as I walked through the door.
“I stayed after.” At least it wasn’t a
complete lie. “Okay sweetie next time just tell
me.” With that, I was up the stairs in my room. I put my
phone on my night stand, and jumped in the shower. After my
shower, I pulled on my pink short shorts, and my lime green
tank top. My phone started to vibrate, assuming it was Emily, I
didn’t get to it right away. After dinner, I laid in my
bed. I picked up my phone about to text Emily when I realized I
had forgotten all about the text I had gotten earlier. It was
from Dillon Smith. Dillon was a year older than I was, and he
was one of my best friends back in junior high. He was a lot
taller than I was, with green eyes, and thick brown hair.
He had the cutest dimples. I opened the text message, and it
read: Hey Abs, it’s Dillon. Well homecoming is coming up,
and I was wondering maybe if you wanted to go with me. If you
don’t I understand, but please consider it. I jumped up
and down, and did a little dance. I replied Yes Yes Yes, most
definitely. I will go to homecoming with you <3 He replied
almost instantly. I’ll pick you up at eight saturday
night. I did another little dance, then flopped onto my bed. I
fell asleep with a smile on my face that night. I had a date to
the homecoming dance.
Emily’s Pov:
Abi left around noon, leaving me and Fletcher alone so we could
catch up. "So, do you got a boyfriend." Fletcher
asked, jabbing me in the side with his elbow. I laughed.
"No, I've only been going to this school for what, a
month now. Abi's my only friend here." He smiled, and
laid back against the bed. I leaned on my side, and looked at
him. "Do you have a girlfriend?" I asked him.
"I'm not sure, it's complicated. It's pretty
hard to read her." I sat up, and pulled on leg onto the
bed, and left the bed, and left the other one hang down.
"Oh.." I leaned against my backboard, and smiled. He
climbed up next to me, and leaned against the backboard.
"Hows it going Em?" He asked taking my hand.
"It's going great, just peachy." I said
sarcastically. "Come on, how are you really?" He put
his arm around my lower back, and pulled me closer to him.
"I'm scared Fletcher. I'm scared I won't live
to graduate, get married, have a family, watch my children grow
up, and worst of all if I do happen to have kids, I'm
afraid they'll be like me." I laid my head on his
shoulder, as tears slipped down my cheeks. "Em there's
nothing wrong with y-" "I'm sick Fletcher, and I
may not live long enough to go to prom." I pulled my hand
away from Fletchers, and got up off the bed. I walked over to
my window seat, and sat there looking out into the horizon. I
hears Fletcher get up off the bed, and heard a few footsteps.
He stopped a foot away from me. I pulled my legs up to my
chest, and motioned for Fletcher to sit. He sat, and put his
hand on my knee. "You're going to be fine." I
shook my head, and started to cry. I crawled over to Fletcher,
and he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into his chest.
"Sh, sh, Em it's alright." He tried to soothe me.
He kissed the top of my head, and rocked me back and forth. I
wrapped my arms around his neck, and sat in his lap. I had been
strong until this moment. Fletcher had brought out my true
feelings, and I hated him for it. Not really, I loved him for
it. I loved him.
