Just Another Girl~12


"Sky! Whats wrong!" Rex asked.

"Nothing. I’m just in shock of the whole thing that’s all. Oh and by the way. thank you so, so much."

"No problem." he said. "Do you want to come in? my moms not home but she likes you." he chuckled.

"Sure." I say. I looked up at him and I see that his forehead is bleeding. "oh my gosh! Rex! Your foreheads bleeding!"

"really? Okay well lets go inside and ill wash it out." he said. So we went inside and I sat on the beige couch as Rex washed the blood off his forehead.

"Okay all better!" Rex said as he sat on the chair across from the couch.

"Cool." I said.

"So.." Rex said. "Does Amy really like me?"

Wanted to tell him that she did, but that would be a lie. Amy go over Rex a few months ago after he never asked her out, so I just responded. "I don’t really know." I really didn’t want to hurt him.

"Oh.." he said. "She doesn’t does she?" he said in a solemn tone.

I sighed. "She used to. I’m not sure about now."

Rex sighed. "Well I guess then it’s a good thing that I didn’t really like her." after he said that he got up and walked towards me. Then he sat next to me on the couch. Oh my gosh. Does he like me? He is so cute, but I don’t know if I like him like that yet.

"Schuyler." he said. "I don’t want you to go out with that Link guy. He looks like bad news. I don’t want you to get hurt. Mentally and physically. Sky he slapped you. Are you really going to give him another chance?" he asked.

"I don’t know Rex. I really like him but I don’t know. I know he hurt me, but I don’t think that it will happen again." I said.

"I don’t see why you think he’s going to be any different Sky. He slapped you!" he was starting to yell as he was getting up. "Why would you take him back?"

I got up off the couch and said, "Because maybe I believe in second chances." I started to walk to the door then I turned around and said, "I’m leaving. Bye Rex." Before he could tell me to stay I was out the door and I slammed it in his face.

As soon as I got into my car ,Rex had put his hand on my shoulder and said, "Sky. I’m sorry. I just don’t trust him."

I got in my car and rolled down the window. I said, "Look Rex I don’t really care if you trust him or not. I’m going to text him and say that I forgive him. Bye." before he could respond to what I had just said I backed out of his driveway. I drove to my house and on the way I had gotten four texts and two calls. I didn’t know who they where from until I got to my house.

I looked at up Rex, I never really noticed that he was taller than me. He was pretty good looking, he was buff but not to buff, he was really nice and really caring. I gave him the look that I was okay and to let me go. He nodded and squeezed me then let me go. I walked over to Link. I heard Rex follow me. "Link Ill give you another chance." Link smiled the smile that made my heart melt.

"No!" I heard Rex say. Then I felt him pull me backwards. "Sky he hurt you! How could you let him just walk right back into your life?" the look on Rex’s face was pained. Was I doing the right thing? I really thought that Link was sorry but what would have happened if Rex wasn’t there?

"Rex," Link said, "I am so sorry that I hurt Sky. I was just so scared about loosing her I, I just didn’t know what to do." Link put his arm around my neck and said, "I will never hurt her again. She saved my life and I at least owe her my respect right?"

Then it struck me. Was the only reason that he said he liked me was because I saved his life? So I said, "Link, is the only reason why you said you like me is because I saved your life?"

"Sky! No! No! No! No! I really do like you. Its not just because you saved my life. I promise." he said.

"Okay." I said. What a relief. Link then pulled his arm from my neck and put his arms around my waist. I loved it when he did that.

"Sky." Rex sighed, "so everything that you two where just arguing about are you going to leave us Sky?" Rex asked. The look on his face was a look of pain.

"Rex, your right." I pulled myself away from Link and looked him in the eyes. "I’m not leaving my friends for you." I walked to Rex and put my arm around his neck. "My friends are my life." I smiled at Rex. He smiled back.

"Sky. I wont hurt you again. I promise." he pleaded. "I was stupid to tell you to choose between me and your friends. I wont make that mistake again. I guess I was just jealous that you left me to be with Rex."

"okay." I said. "I’ll text you later with my answer."

"okay." he sighed. "Bye Sky." after he said that he went to his car and drove away.

I noticed that my arm was still around Rex’s neck. I looked at him. I hugged him and started to cry.

 "Rex!" I scream, "Rex! Calm down!"

 
Rex looked up at me then stopped. "sorry Sky, I just saw his slap you and I went crazy." he went over to me and hugged me.

 "Sky." I heard Link say.

 "What?" I looked at him and saw his nose was bleeding. I put my hand up to my mouth in shock of how much damage Rex did.

 "Im sorry." he said as he sat up. "I shouldn’t have slapped you. That was awful and I am so, so sorry. That was so stupid and
uncalled for.

 

 I opened my mouth to tell him off but then I saw something I have barely ever seen before in my life, Link started to cry. I’ve never seen a guy, other then Rex, cry in front of me and even Rex doesn’t do that a lot. Still in Rex’s arms I say. "Link I don’t really know what to do I really like you but I don’t really want to be in a relationship with someone that may hurt me."

 

 As Link started to get up I felt Rex hold me tighter. "Sky, I understand that I hurt you. I feel horrible about it. It was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made. I’m so sorry. If you never want me to talk to you again I would understand." then I heard him say under his breath. "wow Link you really messed up this time. I thought you liked her?"

"Good-Bye Schuyler." he whispered in my ear. I felt myself shrink back into his arms. Then I felt his arms disappear from my waist and turn to see where he went. His car was no longer in the parking lot, it was as if he was never even there.

I got into my car and drove to Rex’s house. I got up to the door and before I could even knock on the door he opened it.

"Hey." he said

"Hey, is everything okay?" I asked.

"I don’t know." he sighed. "I thought that Amy liked me but now I’m not so sure."

"Well, do you like her?" I asked.

"Yeah. I really like her." he confessed. "I’m so scared sky."

"Aww. That’s so cute Rex." I said. I gave him a hug and said, "well, what are you going to ask her out?"

"Yeah. I might. I think that I’ll ask her, but I don’t know when I can and if I’ll actually ask her out."

"Well, what do you mean if you’ll actually ask her out?" I asked.

"I have a feeling that im going to chicken out and not ask her. I think that I like her to much. It scares me how much I like her Sky." he sighed.

"Rex," I said. "You have to. You can’t wait forever. Ask before you loose her."

"okay." he sighed then he smiled and said. "I will."

"Good." I smiled.

"Thanks Sky. You’re seriously the best friend I could ever have." he said. "Okay well Im going to go ask her. Bye Sky."

"Bye Rex," I said then hugged him and said, "good luck!"

I stared to walk to my car then I saw Link’s car parked on the road near Rex’s house.

"Sky." Link said coldly. "You left because he," he nodded his head towards Rex’s house, "needed you. You where with me. I need to know what we are Sky. Do you actually like me or do you like your friend over there?" he asked.

"Link, are you serious? When I told you that I liked you I meant it. That’s not something that I lie about, and yes, I did leave because he needed me. He needed my help and hes one of my best friends so I will help him when he asks. If you cant understand that then I don’t think that I can be with you." I answered. I started to walk past him and towards my car and he grabbed my arm.

I looked at the clock, 10:39, 25 minutes since me and Link had made plans. I ran downstairs, found my denim purse with the white and red hearts on it, and a long, thin white strap. "MOM I’M GOING TO THE ICE CREAM PLACE!" I screamed up the stairs. I ran out the door before I could hear her response. I jumped into my car and
backed out of my drive way.

I started to drive to the ice cream place. The road wasn’t all that busy either. I got into the parking lot, I found a spot four down from Link’s jeep. As soon as I get out of my car I get a text from Link.

"hey. Meet me outside by the bac door. <3." the text said.

"okayyy. Ill be ther in a sec. I just got here.<3." I texted back. I walked around back, I saw no one. What the hell? I said to myself. All of a sudden I felt to arms wrap around my waist. I almost screamed and then I heard

"Glad you came," in a whisper in my ear.

I turn my head and see Link. When I turned my head he spun me around so that I was facing him.

"Oh. Hi." I gasped. I didn’t know what he was going to say or do next. I just stood there breathlessly.

Before I could even take another full breath he took my hands and said, "wow, you look amazing."

I blushed and whispered, "thanks." he opened his mouth to say something and then I got a text. I smiled apologetically and looked at my phone. It was a text from Rex, my guy best friend from second grade.

"hey. I need 2 talk to u." the text said.

"ill txt u l8r. busy," I texted back.

"Sorry." I nervously laughed.

"That’s okay, Link said, "anyways, thanks for coming."

"No problem. I’m glad I did. What am I going to do about Olivia though?" I said

"I don’t know," he sighed. "But don’t let her scare you. She’s nothing to be afraid of.

"I know, but I mean wouldn’t you be at least a little bit concerned about it?" I asked.

"yeah. I guess I would," he said.

"well I think ill just forget about her for now. I mean, im with you now." I pressed myself closer to him as he tightened his arms around me.

"Sky! Why where you brought home by police officer?" my mom asked me franticly.

I told her the story of what happened, excluding the part about me and
Link talking and the conversation between me and the officer.

She gave me a big hug, " I’m so proud of you Sky."

I shrugged out of her arms, gave a quick smile, and ran upstairs. As I was
running up the stairs I got a text; assuming it was from Luna asking about what happened I waited till I got to my room to read it. When I got to my room I looked at my phone, it said "Text from Link" on it. When I saw it I
almost dropped my phone. I opened it and it said, "hi. Sry I ddnt tell u bout oliva. I shld hav. :("

I automatically texted him back, "o, well. Idc. I was kinda takn by surprze. Idk. I thght u liked me…"

"ya. I do like u for a long time 2. Thn I met Olivia. Id rthr b wit u." he texted back.

When I got that text I couldn’t help but smile. He just confessed that he liked me, Link Perry, like me? I never thought that it was possible.

"well, I like you 2. a lot. But wat r we goin to do? Ur wit Olivia. : | ." I texted back.

"idk. Ill brake up wit her 2mrw. Then we can b 2gether if u wantt?" he texted. We can be together? Oh my gosh is this really happening? Is he really going to brake up with her for me?

I texted him back, "you dnt hav 2 if u dnt wanna." even though I really wanted him to.

"I wanna. Well I gtg. Bye <3." he texted back.

"Byee. : ) <3." I texted back. "Is really happening?" I asked myself. I went into the bathroom, took a shower, and got ready for bed.

"Nice to meet you," I choked out.

"Yeah." she said in a snooty tone. "By the way, thanks for saving,"
then in that voice people talk to babies in, "My Link."

"Yeah, No problem." I left before anyone else could say anything.

"Sky? Well, bye I guess. See you!" I heard Link shout out after me.

I ran out of the hospital as fast I could. I walked to the parking garage and remembered that I went in the ambulance with Link. So I went back into the hospital and asked them if they could have someone give me a ride. I ended up getting a ride from one of the police officers that came with me to the hospital. He drove me to the area that Link got shot and where my car was, my car wasn’t there.

"Oh my gosh! Where’s my car?" I panicked.

The officer already had her hand on her walky-talky trying to find my car "Officer Sandy here. Im on the corner of Heritage street. Did you recently take a black VW bug from here?"

Over the walky-talky I heard the other person say, "yeah, its in the impound lot, Why?"

"Oh, okay, I need someone to bring it to a residency." Officer sandy said. She turned to me, smiled and then said "where do you live sweetheart?"

"Oh, I live at 27 Empire Avenue in the southern part of town." I responded.

"to 27 Empire Avenue, please. It was the car of the girl that was a witness of that shooting on Heritage Street." She said. Then she turned to me and said, "How do you know that boy?"

"oh, well we go to school together and.." I stopped short before I I told her that I liked him.

"And," she turned to me, smiled, then said, "you like him don’t you?"

I felt my face turn red. After a moment I said, "yeah, but he has a girl friend." there was more sadness in my voice than I thought there was.

The rest of the car ride we talked about how I had past boyfriends I had didn’t care as much about and how she liked this boy that had a girlfriend also, but she ended up marrying him. That made me think. What would come of Link and her? Would they just be friends? Would they ever be together?
