Chapter 6
We we went downstairs after whatever that little thing was.
My face was still a light shade of red.
"What goes on?" Jason said to Elliot.
They strolled away quickly and i didnt even have the chance to say goodbye.
"AHHH LILY SO WHAT HAPPENED?!?!" Mackenzie yelled at me and dragged me into a near-by room.
"nothing." i said to her.
Nothing did happen. All he did was hold my hand.. and it meant nothing..
right?
"nooo, something had to happen. You guys were gone for like 20 minutes!" she said smiling at me and nudging me.
"We just talked." I said to her, uninterested if any drama was going to come out of this.
"Anything else?" She said winking jokingly at me.
"He grabbed onto my hand and i didn't pull away. Thats it. We didn't do anything else." I said to her, staring right in her eyes.
"Oh. That actually sounds really... nice." she said smiling a real smile at me.
"I thought it was to." I said giggling and staring down at my feet. my face was red again.
"Well i think he likes you." She said smiling at me.
"really?" i said, almost exited.
Wait, why did i care? I didnt want a boyfriend. At all... right?
"yeah, he's had a little crush on you for a while and tonight you look like gorgeous." she said reasuringly.
ME? gorgeous? ha. it wasnt possible.
I managed to say thanks and we hung around for a little but then it was time for us to leave.
Elliot and Jason were no where to be found.
Just as i opened the car door i heard Elliot yell,"Lily! Wait up."
He walked up and i said,"Sorry im leaving.. i didnt know where you went. So bye" i said smiling at him and going to sit back down in the car.
Then i felt a strong pair of arms wrap around me and pick me up off the ground.
"It was really nice meeting you Lily." Elliot whispered in my ear.
He set me back down and i giggled.
Did i like him?
I got into the car and me and mackenzie drove away.
I waved at Elliot the whole way down the street.
Chapter 4
"HEY KENZ!" Amber yelled.
"hey amber." Kenz said cooly back.
Was mackenzie popular?
i had never questioned it cause she was so kind to me.
"You look hot babe." Jason, her boyfriend said grabbing her waist and pulling her closer to him.
But it wasnt a pervish grab, it was a sweet grab. an innocent one,
I stood there awkwardly because i had no friends, let alone a boy one.
"Oh sorry Lily, this is Jason!" She said smiling.
"hi." i said looking down at my feet.
What was i supposed to say?
I had no idea how to even talk to anyone.
I was just comfortable around Mackenzie because she was calm and kind and i knew she wouldnt judge me.
She nestled herself in his arms and i felt out of place and left.
i wandered around for a while inside the house we were at.
There was a really pretty bathroom on the second floor with a jet bathtub.
I wish i could live here.
Just me,lys, and mom. It would be perfect. This house was beautiful.
"LILY WHERE ARE YOUUUU?!?!!?!?" I heard Mackenzie yell up the stairs.
I peered out of the bathroom door and down the stairs.
Her and Jason were standing there, their fingers entwined.
I wish i could have something like that... I dont have the time for the stupid thing called love.
"hmmm?" i said, distracted by the never ending rooms in this gorgeous house.
"Just come here, i want you to meet someone." She said kindly.
"Kay." I said stumbling,of course, down the stairs.
I reached them and another boy walked up.
"This is Elliot." She said pushing him infront of her.
"um.. hey." he said nervously, kind of similar to me.
"hi.." I said looking down at the floor.
Mackenzie and Jason were staring intently at us like something was gunna happen.
I shrugged my shoulders at them. What was this?
"Wanna go somewhere else? Like my room? I promise i wont pull anything." He said kindly to me.
I looked up into his gorgeous hazel eyes.
What was this feeling? Why was i thinking he was gorgeous and i had just met him?
"um.." I mummbled to him.
I wasnt sure i wanted to.. what if he was just some jerk that thought i was easy?
"Hes okay Lily, trust me." Kenz whispered to me from behind.
"okay." i said to him. I followed him up the stairs.
What was going to be next?
Chapter 3
School was a half day today.
two days had passed since i had found my mom and she was finally healing.
no sign of my dad, and i was glad.
Lys is going to truely be beautiful, but shes getting older and shes starting to notice what my dad does.
How dare he do this? I was going to make it end.
Even though i had no idea how.
I called mackenzie today and she told me we could hang at her house.
I had finally made myself a new friend after the miserable days of losing Eva.
I got to her house and rang the doorbell.
The door opened and a smiling older-looking Mackenzie answered. It was obviously her mom.
"Hello im Taylor, Mackenzies mom." She said smiling, her smile just the same as mackenzie's.
Then Mackenzie came, "Dude come in." She said pulling me inside and up the marble staircase to her room.
Her house was very big and modern, but beautiful.
"This is my room, just sit here, you have a facebook?" She said to me.
"No." I said almost embaressed, i didnt have time for those things.
"Thats okay, we'll do something else." She said.
We jumped on her trampoline and took pictures and did everything Eva and me did together.
I finally laughed a real laugh since i had lost her, and it felt great.
"Hey wanna go this party later? Its at Jenna Weisler's." Kenz said.
"Umm sure." I said worried, what if my dad got home tonight and i was out at a party?
What would happen to mom and alyssa?
"Lemme call my mom actually." I said to her grabbing the nearest phone and hurrying out.
What if he was already home? I had been at Mackenzie's all day.
I dialed the number and impatiently waited for an answer.
"Hello?..." i heard alyssa's innocent voice say.
"Lys its Lily.. Is everything okay there? Is daddy home?" I said, terrified of what the answer would be.
"Everythings fantastic, i learned that word today, it means good and no, hes not here." She said giggling.
A big weight was lifted off of my shoulders.
"Okay well tell mom ill be home later tonight and to be careful, can you do that Lys?" I said to her.
"Okay i will..bye lily!" She said sweetly.
"I love you Lys, goodnight." I said, smiling. she could always make me smile with her sweetness.
I set the phone back into the right place at her house and went back into her room.
"I can go." I said smiling at her, i could get used to this. Smiling.
"Yay! Heres an outfit to wear, i thought it would look pretty with your hair." She said, trying to be sweet.
Nothing ever looked good with my hair, it sucked. But i was going to wear the outfit for Kenz's sake.
It was a simple pink half-shirt and black soffes, it wasnt bad at all.
She was wearing the same thing but a blue top instead.
I got dressed and she put a little bit of makeup on me and herself and we got read to go.
We pulled up to her house and stopped.
"Ready? Its gunna be so fun!" she said to me.
We both hopped out of the car.
Chapter 2
School ended.
I faced the fact that i had to go home.
I walked outside of school, terrified of what i might find when i get home.
All the buses were gone, oops.
i started off to my house at a quick pace, i had to get home before lys did.
"Hey!!" I heard someone yell.
They couldnt possibly be talking to me, i was nobody. no one ever talked to me.
Then quick footsteps came up behind me.
"Your lily right?" the girl said to me.
"Yeah." i said looking down at my feet.
what did someone want this time? Saying mean sh*t to me didnt matter anymore, i didnt care.
"Well im Mackenzie, but i go by Kenz too." She said to me with a bright smile.
For some reason, just her smile made me feel better. She just seemed so happy.
"hi mackenzie, im lily stewart, the freak with no friends." I said emotionlessly looking at the ground again.
"No your not a freak! I think your gorgeous and really thin." She said smiling at me.
Why was she being so nice? Maybe.. just maybe i could get myself another friend.
"Thanks." I said smiling, a real smile, not a fake one like the ones i had been giving people for weeks, but a real smile.
"Well maybe we could hangout, ill call you!" She said to me, the bright smile never left her face.
I gave her my moms number and she had to go, she was so nice to me... i felt like i mattered a little bit again, finallly a little better after Eva died. Maybe i could have another good friend.
I ran down the street realizing i had just lost more time.
I had to get home before Lys did.. who knows what i would find?
I reached my street the exact time Lys's bus was pulling down the street, i stopped and waited for her to get off of the bus.
I gave her a piggy-back ride on the way home considering she only weighed about 40 pounds.
I was scared to walk inside, the last thing that i wanted was to find my mother dead.
I unlocked my door and walked in.
Alyssa went to her room to play with her toys. i was glad, i didnt wanna find my mom and her innocent eyes see her too.
I walked into my living room and checked the couch. no one.
I walked into the kitchen. no one.
i finally darted to my parents room and flung open the door.
My mom was standing there. A long, deep cut on her chest and a new, huge bruise on her face.
But she was alive.
She saw me and burst into tears.
I was sick of this sh*t. my dad had no right to treat her like this.
This was going to end, soon. And i was going to make it end no matter what.
Chapter 1
"LILLIAN STEWART GET UP!" my mom yelled at me. she wanted me up before my insane dad got home.
SLAM!
damn it, that was the door. too late. i jumped up out of bed and walked out terrified of what was gunna happen next.
"Morning daddy." my little sister, Alyssa said. She was only 6, but already knew what my dad was capable of.
My mom tried her hardest to stay strong infront of us and take care of us.
"morning lys." I said, attempting a smile towards her, "Lets get you dressed for school."
I hurried her off to her room, taking one look at my dad i already knew he was mad.
I picked out a outfit for her and brushed her thin, blonde hair out.
she was honestly going to be beautiful. She had a beautiful personality and face and she was capable of going far.
i braided her hair down her back when she asked,
"When is daddy gunna stop hurting mommy and us?" she said to me with her green eyes glowing. hers were different then mine, much more brighter and innocent.
"Dont worry bud." I said to her smiling and helping her up off the floor.
Then a loud crash interrupted us.
"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!?!??" I heard my dad's loud, terrifying voice yell at my mother.
"I d-didnt mean to! it was a-an accident." she cried out.
I slowly shut the door and told Alyssa to go out the back door instead of the front for school. She listened and i silently followed her.
I was walking to her bus stop trying to keep smiling for her. She was sad though. i knew she knew what was happening.
I waved to her as she got on the bus and left for school myself.
I strolled into my class just as the bell rang.
"Miss Stewart, your late." my teacher muttered.
I sat down.
I didnt want to have to leave school today, what would i find when i got home?
Introduction
Im Lily.
Im not like a lot of people... im different.
I was adopted by my family from germany and moved to this lovely state of Arizona.
People dont like me cause im not pretty or normal.
Its just how life works.
If your ugly then your pretty much just ignored by... everyone.
I have hair in between the colors of brown and red.. kind of like an auburn, an ugly warn-out auburn that is.
I always have bruises and scars considering what my life is like at home... my dad is abusive.
I have green eyes that remind me of seaweed.
I've never had a boyfriend and i can see why.
Im 15 years old and pretty much invisible.
I know what your thinking too, oh this is just some stupid teen girl thinking shes not important and shes insecure.
But its not.
I have no friends considering my only died in a car crash a couple weeks ago.
Her name was Eva, only 15 years old..
I have no social life except for getting called "weird" or "stupid" in the halls.
I pretty much just wish i didnt exist but the thing is.. im still

Paul's
POV:
Wow she was beautiful...
Yet different.
I loved the way her brown eyes shown so bright.
Thats how i could tell when she was lying.
The expression of her eyes would change.
I really liked her.
But for some reason, i couldn't ask her out.
What if she said no?
Things would never be the same....
Laken's POV:
Why wont he ask me out?
He probably doesnt even like me...
I should just give up.
Who was i kidding?
I did not wanna be broken again.
I snapped back from my thoughts about Paul and back into
Math.
School was boring.
I dont even know why we have to go...
Finally the bell rang telling us to go home.
I scurried to my locker and grabbed my books.
Then i felt a strong pair of arms hug me from behind.
Paul.
I smiled and tried to hug back.
Was he just leading me on?
This was too much to worry about....
"Can i give you a ride home?" He said smiling
at me.
"S-sure.." I said not even questioning it in my
head.
I hopped in his car and we drove towards my house.
"We were supposed to turn back there." I said in a
quiet voice.
"Oh i know... Im taking you somewhere else first." He
said.
He shot me a gorgeous smile.
Wow he was perfect.
Or pretty damn close to it anyway.

Chapter Thirteen:
The next morning i woke up and
stared at my clock.
It was 7.
Sh*t.
I started school at 7:20.
I got up and hustled around my house and my mom had to end up
giving me a ride.
"So how are you?" My mom said to me trying to get me to
talk.
"okay.." I said quietly to her.
She was shocked.
"O-oh thats good." She stuttered out trying not to act
shocked.
The rest of the ride was silent and then she dropped me off at
school
As i was getting out of the car i said,
"Bye mom. I love you."
I shocked myself. But you know what? She deserved to hear it.
"I love you too!" She yelled after me as i walked up to
the front doors.
I started down the hall and checked in with the office to get a
pass.
I was digging through my locker when i felt someone staring at
me.
Please don't be Jacob.. Please dont be Jacob.
I turned and saw Paul.
Thank God.
"Hey Beautiful." He said to me walking over and
brushing my hair out of my face.
Was this a dream?
Why was he being so nice to me?
No one ever was...
I let out a small giggle and flushed red.
"h-hi." I stuttered out.
Stupid raspy voice.
"Hello." He said in a dork voice
What was he doing out of class anyway?
"Why are you late?" He said, this time in a
principal like voice.
I shrugged my shoulders.
Why did he care?
I finally had all my books and started off to my class.
He followed closely behind doing stupid ninja moves that he
thought i couldnt see.
"Stop doing t-that." I said turning around in the
middle of another move.
"ok.." He said smiling a perfect smile at me.
I smiled back.
"Well i have to go." He said to me.
I gave him a small wave and turned around to walk into my
class.
"Wait!" He said and i turned back around.
Then i felt his soft lips kiss me on the cheek.
Perfect.
"B-bye." I said blushing and walking silently into my
class.

Chapter Twelve:
"W-what?" I said
almost silently to him.
He just sat and stared at me for a second.
I started to get impatient.
What did he want?
This was probably just some joke...
I watched him as he lifted his hand and brushed a piece of my
hair out of my face.
My face flushed.
What was he doing?
I jumped when he slid his hand down my face and onto my
shoulder.
"Laken i've been wanting to tell you something." He
said.
I was mesmarized by his eyes.
They were like a shimmer of green.
"Y-yes??" I said impatiently wanting to know.
He stopped talking for a second and i started to take his hand of
my shoulder.
He did nothing.
Just dead silence between us.
I started to pick up my bag and get out of the car. I was used to
it.
Dissapointment.
But then i felt a warm pair of hands pull me back in.
Right after that i felt a soft pair of lips connect with
mine.
It was a short kiss.
A simple one.
But to me it felt like so much more.
I sat in the car with him staring into his eyes.
Maybe this wasn't so bad.
Maybe he actually liked me.
"I like you Laken." He said to me leaning in again.
He kissed me on the cheek this time though.
And my face burned red.
I hope he didn't notice.
This was so embarressing.
"Its okay.. Dont be embarresed." He said to me, almost
reading my mind.
I just smiled at him.
A real smile.
And for once, i finally felt happiness again.
I murmered bye and got out of the car, still smiling.
I walked to my front door and let myself in...
(More like skipped, I hope Paul didn't see me.)
This had been a great day.
