We got out of the car and Caleb
walked up behind me and took my hand. I smiled up at him
surprised. "We never danced." He faked a frown.
"We can later." I smirked at him and looked over at
Sophie. She kept her eyes on the big building in front of us.
We got inside and Caleb walked over to the desk. "Oh, I
wasn't expecting you today." The man behind the
counter said. It was the same man. "Yeah, well you
know.. the girl wanted to show her friend around." He
smiled gestering towards Sophie and I standing off to the
side away from the counter. "Come here." He said
looking back at us after telling the man he wanted passes.
"We need bracelets." I explained to Sophie as we
walked over. The man behind the counter gently placed
Sophie's pass on her wrist and Caleb helped me with mine
again. "Let's go on the double carts!" I begged
Caleb as we stood in line with Sophie. "But that's
not a fair race." He laughed a little. "It's
fine, you guys can. And then maybe Annaleigh and I can go
double too?" Sophie quickly answered. "Okay. As
long as it's okay with you Sophie." Caleb smiled a
little at her. Once the man opening the fence that lead
to the karts for the next round of people we all ran to the
numbers we wanted. I plopped down in the lane next to Sophie,
since she was in a single kart and Caleb and I were in a
double. We sat directly across from eachother and waited for
the signal to go.

"Hey, Annaleigh. What's
the deal for after school?" Sophie asked bumping me at
my locker. "Oh, I uh, I had plans." I said softly
looking at Caleb who was standing at his locker next to mine.
"Oh, got it." She sighed. I guess she didn't
really like the fact that Caleb and I were starting to hang
out more and more lately. But I mean, it was kind of her
fault for trying to set us up so badly. "Hey, Annaleigh.
We could all hang out, I mean if it's cool with Sophie
and you." Caleb inturrupted our conversation. "I
wouldn't want to--" Sophie began to explain.
"No, no. Come on! It'll be so much fun! Maybe we
could go to that go-kart place?" I smiled at Caleb.
"Yeah, totally." He smiled at the two of us.
"Come on Soph! You'll love it, please!" I
begged. Finally Sophie gave in and we were on our way. We got
on the highway and after about half an hour Sophie pointed
out the sign reading 'Friendly's'.
"Oh my god! That's like the last Friendly's
ever, can we go?! Please, please, please?!" Sophie
begged from the backseat. Caleb 'causually' looked
over at me for the okay, knowing my past. I nodded at him and
he took the exit. "I love this place!" She smiled
as we walked in. "You're acting like our
child." I laughed looking at her. "Oh shut up, you
two are so boring." She smiled at me as she waved her
hand at the two of us. "We're so exciting, just wait
till we get to the track, you'll see." Caleb smiled.
We each got a small sundae and then were back on the road to
the track. The place was pretty close and we didn't have
to drive anymore than 5 minutes. "We're here!"
I smiled as Caleb pulled into the parking lot. "It's
inside?" Sophie asked confused. Self explanitory
questions are always coming out of Sophie. Caleb and I smiled
at eachother before getting out of the car. I'm really
starting to, I don't know.. fall for him?
- I've had the
stomach bug, ugh. Sorry!

We both got out of the car. The
bell was going to ring soon so we walkeds over to the back
doors ready to run in when needed to. We sat on the curb.
"I didn't do it yesterday." I smiled at him
proudly. "You made me feel beautiful when you told me I
was, the only people who tell me that are my parents." I
said looking straight out into the football felid.
"Really?" I heard his voice change, he sounded
happy again. You know the Taylor Swift song where she's
like; there's somethin' about the way the street
looks when it's just rained, there's a glow off the
pavement .. & you know I wanna ask you to dance, in the
middle of the parking lot?" Caleb smiled at me shyly. I
nodded. "Let's dance." He smiled as he stood up
in front of me sticking out his hand. I smiled in shock at
him. "Really?" I smiled. Just then the bell rang.
We quickly got up and banged on the back doors till someone
opened them and let us in. We raced down the hallway to our
lockers, grabbed our biology binders, and quickly ran off to
biology. Quickly we took our normal seats in the back of the
room, right before the bell rang. As we walked in I
couldn't help but notice April, she looked sad. Guilt ran
over me but I quickly pushed it away. She's not a nice
person to begin with, she knew what Jake was doing. She just
didn't want to admit it and hearing it from someone else
was worse.
"So, listen to TSwift often?" I wrote on a piece of
paper. "
Hell yeah, I so totally swear she like stole my diary."
He wrote back, and I read it in his sarcastically mimicking
voice.
"We're in a fight. (;" I joked.
"Wow, gonna carry this fight out after school?"
"Um, I guess.. I mean if you wanna get beat by a
girl." I smiled at the paper.
I could see Caleb studying my face from the corner of my
eyes, causing me to smile even more. It was a good thing the
teacher was to busy going off on April for not doing homework
to notice. I felt like telling the teacher she was to busy
trying to keep her boyfriend, but I didn't feel like
getting suspended. So I just wrote it on the paper to Caleb.
He chuckled a little and before we knew it the day was
over.
- So sorry it took so
long for these to be up here. My computer was acting up, but
I put a chapter up for every day I missed. Thanks for
reading. <3 -

"Caleb!" I smiled as I
ran out of the house and down the steps. Caleb was leaning
against his car and my mom stood in front of him as they
talked. "Alright, well we should get going." Caleb
politely smiled at my mother. I love how he respected her so
much. "Of course." She smiled turning to face me.
"Love that shirt, Le Le." She smiled at me.
"Mom!" I groaned as my face turned red, again.
"Sorry sweetie." She laughed. She hugged me tightly
as Caleb walked over to the drivers side. "Have a good
day at school. Don't lose this boy." She whispered
in my ear. I nodded at her. "Love you." I said as I
waved from the passenger seat. "Love you too." She
smiled and waved back from the porch. "Sorry." I
sighed. "About what?" Caleb asked looking at me and
then quickly back to the road. "My mom. I didn't
think she was gonna talk to you, again." I said as I
stared out the windshield. It looked like rain, I love rain.
"Oh don't even worry about it. She's too
nice." He smirked. "So, Annaleigh."He smiled
looking over at me as he pulled into the parking lot of
dunkin donuts. "Wanna hot chocolate?" He smiled as
he got into the drive thru lane. "Uh, yeah sure." I
answered a little unsure. "Your mom told me about how
when you were little you guys would always get hot chocolates
on a rainy day." He smiled before pulling up to the
speakers. "Two small hot chocolates, please." He
spoke to the worker. "Sorry, that was rude, did you want
a bigger size?" He said looking at me after he pulled up
to the window. "No, a small is perfect. I can't have
drinks in my first period class anyways." I reassured
him. "Okay, good." He smiled. The lady handed him
out drinks and he gave one to me before he quickly got out of
the parking lot. The bell rings at 7:35 and it was only 7:15,
so there was no real rush. Right as we pulled up to the
school and opened our doors it started pouring. We both
cracked up as we ran towards the school. After we were out of
the rain we stood in the dry spot right near the door. The
roof was protecting us from the rain. We laughed a little
more and caught our breaths. "I love the rain." I
said as we stood there staring at each other. "I do
too." He smiled looking down at me, due to our height
difference. "Are you gonna kiss me?" I interrupted
our staring. "Is it okay?" He asked looking in my
eyes. Immediately I got the butterflies. I love Caleb's
eyes, I love how he gets along with my mother, and more than
anything I love how much he respects me, and my space. I
nodded as I continued to look back in his eyes. Slowly, he
leaned down and kissed my lips. His lips were so soft, they
were amazing against mine. Once we pulled back I looked
around. A bus had just pulled up and I saw Jake looking over
at us, he saw. Then shortly after Sophie got off the bus and
ran over to us. "Sorry to interrupt love birds, but the
bells gonna ring soon." She laughed at us. My face yet
again flushed red, as we walked into the
school.

chapter
nine.
That night I indeed had very sweet
dreams, about Caleb. Usually when I remember my dreams
they're about Jake. Honestly, I never thought there would
be a day that I'd say this, but it was a pleasant
surprise. I woke up when my phone vibrated. Let's say
I'm a really light sleeper.
"Good morning Annaleigh! Wanna ride to school? Wait,
don't answer that.. I'll be there at 7. Better not
keep me waiting today. (;" - Caleb!
I smiled a little to myself and checked the time. It was only
6:30, maybe I'd actually have time to get ready this
morning. After gaining energy I hopped out of bed, covered in
smiles. Slowly I approached the mirror on the back of my
closet door, terrified of how I was going to see myself
today. I was shocked. I stood there for a minute trying to
find my flaws. My face was pimple free, socially acceptable,
my hair actually looked cute in this messy bun, socially
acceptable, I smiled softly, my teeth looked good this
morning. Was I actually happy with my appearance today? I
scanned my body again and stopped at my legs.
"And those thighs."
April's words continued to haunt me.
"You're already
beautiful." Caleb's sweet words
replayed in my mind. People have no clue how powerful their
words are. Maybe Caleb just saved me a day from puking, maybe
I'll actually eat lunch today. I won't eat dinner.
But lunch is a good place to start. I stopped looking in the
mirror and walked into the bathroom. Again I turned the water
on and got it. There I thought about a new rule. My new rule
is that if Caleb or anyone else can actually make me feel
pretty, or worth something in this crazy messed up world,
I'll go through that day without puking, or starving
myself completely. I wrestled with the knob today, a little
less but that's not the point. Once I was out I found my
clothes for the day. I was going to wear a pair of ripped
jeans and a flowery top from American Eagle with a cardigan
on top. My outfit today was cute. I wasn't done until I
slid Jake's bracelet on my wrist. I found it and put it
on. After that I did my hair, naturally curly today and then
I applied some eye makeup. I looked over at my nightstand
from my vanity. It was 6:56. I slid on navy flip flops
that matched the background of my flower shirt, grabbed my
backpack, and walked down the stairs. "Well you look
happy this morning." My dad smiled. "Yeah." I
replied with a little half smile. "Where's
mom?" I asked looking around the kitchen.
"She's outside talking to your boyfriend." My
dad laughed looking up from his paper. His cup of coffee in
front of him was still steaming. "Dad! He's not my
boyfriend!" I smiled as I felt my face get
hot.
Let Me
Be Your Reason
chapter
eight.
"Hey sweetie, want some pizza?
Your dad and I ordered in tonight." My mother yelled
from the living room. "Oh, I can't eat another bite.
Caleb brought me to an amazing restaurant." I lied
through my teeth as I stood at the bottom steps to the
staircase. "That's nice. He seems like a good guy.
How was your day?" She asked. "It was great, but I
have to go get ready for bed now." I said as I quickly
ran up the stairs. My stomach was unpleasantly growling now.
I brushed it off and took out the scale from my walk-in
closet. Slowly I got on, terrified of what the result were
going to be. Eventually I gained the courage to look down,
'96'. I was 96 pounds. I'm just a little over 5
feet tall, so I should be at least 115. But I think that I
could still use a couple more pounds, or 10. After I was done
looking at the haunting numbers I got out my pajamas, plaid
pants and a big shirt. After everything was laid out I walked
into the bathroom wrapped in a towel. After getting the
shower nice and hot I jumped in. Once I was done I tried to
shut off the water, but my fragile arms just couldn't do
it. I fought with the knob for a good 5 minutes before I
finally fell over in the slippery tub, but at least the water
was off now. Right then and there I realized what I was doing
to my body. I'm becoming weaker and weaker everyday, and
I also realized that I honestly don't even care. After I
was done getting ready I slid under the blankets, turned on
my tv, set my useless alarm, and checked my phone.
'2 New Messages from Caleb!'
"Hey.."
"Look I'm sorry about my comment earlier, forgive
me?" - Caleb!
"Hey sorry, I was gettin' ready for bed.. It's
cool.."
"It's fine, so um did you like today?" -
Caleb!
"Oh yeah, it was a lot of fun.. Hbu" "Yeah, it
was a blast." - Caleb!
We talked for probably another hour about random things.
Finally someone is showing a little interest in my life.
"Well, I'm going to sleep.. Gotta get my beauty
sleep; ya know.."
"You're already beautiful Annaleigh(: but sweet
dreams." - Caleb!
Did he really just tell me I was beautiful? Even Jake never
told me I was beautiful. I was always 'pretty', or
I'd get a 'Should you really be eating
that?'.
"Good night Caleb. Thanks for everything, sweet
dreams."

"Wow! This place is
actually pretty cool." I smiled with amazement after our
nearly hour drive to the go-kart place. It was indoors, and
it was so decoritive. "I love this place, you're
gonna love it too, promise." Caleb smiled at me as he
walked over to the desk. "Hey! Two all day passes,
please." Caleb smiled at the man. "Of course,
Caleb." The man behind him smiled back. "Do you
come here often or something?" I asked him as we walked
away. "Well, I guess you could say that." Caleb
smiled as he put my paper braclet around my wrist, showing
that we paid. Ugh, he needs to stop with these half story
things, he's so interesting. I guess that's a good
thing. "Let's go!" He ran from me towards the
go-karts. "Hey! Wait up!" I laughed chasing after
him. We stood in line and waited until we could get our
karts. "Ready to eat my dust?" Caleb laughed.
"I don't eat anything." I laughed a little and
drove off. Not even a second after I said that, I realized
what I just did. I hope he doesn't read into it to much.
Hopefully he thinks nothing of it.
----
"Let's get some dinner. I'm starved." Caleb
said as we got into his car leaving the go-kart place.
"Uh, yeah. Um I guess we could." I said looking
down at my hands that I was playing with nervously. "Or
I could just bring you home and get food myself." He
said trying to get my attention as he stared at me.
"Sure, I mean. Yeah, it's probably getting late
anyway." I said looking at the clock. It was only 7:30.
"Yep, that's fine. I'll just take you home
now." He replied as we pulled off and headed towards the
highway. The long ride took forever, all we shared was
awkward silence. Finally we pulled up to my house.
"Thanks for today, I really enjoyed it." I smiled
as I put my hand on the door getting ready to leave.
"Analeigh?" He asked quickly. I looked back at him,
"Yeah?" "Why won't you eat?" He
asked, it looked like he had just lost a puppy. His eyes
looked so sad, I've never seen him like this before.
"I'm gonna, right now. Don't worry. I'll
text you later." I smiled and walked out of the
car.
Let Me
Be Your Reason

"Where are we
going?" I asked quietly as I sat down in the passenger
seat. Caleb's car was very nice, and very clean. It had
black leather seats and the outside of the car was white. I
didn't know Caleb had this type of money, well I guess I
never really asked either. "Umm, well I heard of this
place where you can drive go-karts." He answered pulling
out of my circular driveway and heading off down the road.
"So, we're going there?" I asked confused, he
never answered me. "Yeah, if that's okay with
you." He said looking at me then back at the road
quickly. "Uh, yeah sure. But um why did you have to pick
me up so early?" I asked looking out the window. The sun
had already rose but the sky looked beautiful at this time of
the morning in California. "Well, there's this diner
I used to go to all the time with my mom. It closes at 10,
and I just thought it'd be fun to go to." He smiled
at me while he stopped at a stop sign. "Well, um I'm
not really a breakfast eater." I answered quickly.
"Oh, that's fine. You can just get a coffee or
something." He said as he pulled into a small diner. We
got seated instantly, and the woman took our order.
"I'll have a hot tea, please." I told the
waitress. Coffee had calories, tea didn't. "I'll
have a hot chocolate, with whip cream, two scrambled eggs,
and a side of baccon." Caleb smiled at the lady handing
her our menus. Man, that sounded so good, but I couldn't
have any or I'd become a fat cow. He got his
food shortly after and I drank my tea watching him eat.
"So, you used to come here with your mom?" I asked
as he stuck his fork with some eggs on it into his mouth. He
nodded with a little smile. "How come you don't come
here anymore with her?" I asked curiously. "Well,
she just hasn't been up to it lately, I guess." He
answered. I could tell it was a sore subject, so I just
dropped it. I still wanted to know though.
Let Me

chapter
five.
A few days passed and
I'm warming up to Caleb a little. Sophie seems
excited.
I don't think I'm too excited yet though.
----
"Analeigh!" My mother called from downstairs. I
rolled over, like I do every morning. The clock read
'6:50'. What?! 10 minutes late?! Great. "I'm
up." I sighed. "No, it's not that
sweetie." She smiled opening my door. Nice job knocking,
I thought to myself. I was laying in bed all wrapped up.
"There was a bad storm last night and the power at the
school isn't working so, there's no school today. So
I didn't bother waking you up." She explained.
Immediately I started panicking, was I going to have to
actually eat more than 600 calories today? "Oh, okay.
I'm going back to bed then." I said as I got
comfortable again. "About that, there's a boy
downstairs waiting for you. I told him you guys didn't
have school today, and he's insisting on taking you
out." She explained. I groaned. "Who?" I asked
already knowing the answer. "Um, I think he said his
name is Caleb." She replied with a confused expression
on her face. "Tell him I died." I answered flatly
as I tossed on my bed. "He can hear you dear, he's
just in the kitchen." She laughed. "I'll get
ready and be down in a minute." I sighed tossing my
blankets to the other side of my bed. I heard my mom run back
down the stairs and started talking to Caleb again. I got out
of bed and put on a pair of light jeans from my dresser and
found a hoodie. I slid on a white cami and then my purple
hoodie over it. I ran to the bathroom, with no time to throw
up the dinner I didn't have the previous night, I just
brushed my teeth, applied a little make-up and went
downstairs. "Hi." I said looking at Caleb.
"Well, look at who decided to visit the world on this
fine morning." He laughed. "Have fun you two."
My mother smiled as we walked out the door.
