CHAPTER 2: (Part
4)
"We're going night swimming." She said with a
huge grin on her face.
"Night swimming?"
"Ugh. You've never heard of night swimming?" She
rolled her eyes at us, "You are so uncultured. Can Leona and
I borrow swimsuits, April?"
"Sure." I said smiling.
"Wait, don't we have the Biology exam tomorrow?"
Leona said, "I don't wanna be too tired..."
"Nah, tomorrow is a teacher workday thing. So come on my
babies! Lets go to the pool!" Krista said.
Krista wore my pink and green bikini, and Leona wore
my orange polka dot one. I decided I would wear my white
and navy monokini to hide the bruise from my broken rib. I
told my mom we were going out, then threw on a t-shirt, grabbed
some towels, and we drove to the pool.
When we got there and stepped outside, I began to shiver.
"Oh my goddddddd. Its soooo cold." I said, my teeth
chattering.
"Ugh, I know," Leona replied, "Krista-" she
started to say,
But Krista was already running down the parking lot towards the
pool.
Leona and I ran after her, laughing.
We hopped the fence and jumped into the heated pool.
The lights were on, and the water felt amazing.
We acted like ten year olds. We splashed eachother with water and
Leona and Krista did belly flops off the diving boards.
"Hey!" I heard someone yell as Krista and Leona dove
into the water, "You're not supposed to be
here!"
I looked across the pool and saw a guy standing there in a
lifeguard shirt and swimming trunks.
I was about to reply when he leaned forward and said,
"Wait, aren't you April?"
"Uh... yeah." I replied.
"It's me, Sam." He said smiling. He walked around
the pool and I recognized his messy blonde hair and blue
eyes.
"Oh! Hey!" I said smiling.
"You know, you're really not supposed to be
here..." He said, rubbing his neck, "I work here, and
was just closing it up."
Krista popped out of the water, gasping for breath.
"You win Leona!" She said, "I can't hold my
breath anymore!"
Leona came up out of the water, and laughed.
"Krista! You can't hold your breath for a minuet!"
She snickered.
They both got quiet and looked at Sam, then me.
"Um... this is Sam guys. He almost hit me with a car
yesterday, and he works here too."
"Hey Sam!" Leona and Krista chorused.
"I be right back," Krista said, and hopped out of the
pool. She ran over to the towels and wrapped one around
her.
"So why are you here so late?" Sam asked me.
"It was Krista's idea," I started to explain,
"She calls it night swimming -"
I was cut off as he yelled and fell into the pool.
Krista stood where he had been standing laughing
hysterically.
He popped up out of the water laughing,
"Hahahaa! I wasn't expecting that!" He said shaking
his wet hair.
