When You Think Tim McGraw ♥
chapter
nine
My
favorite part of Youth Club was music class. I didn’t
like to sing, but I loved it because we always sat right next
to each other and we always shared a paper. You were lazy and
always made me hold the paper. I didn’t have the
steadiest hands, especially around you, and you always made fun
of me for it. A lot of times, you would grab the paper and
dramatically shake it and say “Guess who I am” with
a huge smile on your face. People just understood that no one
could sit between us. Every now and then, you would pull the
cheesiest trick in the book; the yawn and stretch just to put
your arm around me. Some girls might find it totally stupid, I
found it totally adorable. I quickly learned that if I looked
at you, you would stop and you wouldn’t put your arm
around me.
About halfway through the semester,
music was moved to Fellowship Hall because it cost too much to
heat the sanctuary. This didn’t change things for me and
you though. Instead of sitting in the pews, we were sitting in
metal chairs. When we got up, you could always tell where we
sat because the chairs were right up against each other.
My favorite memory of the entire time we spent together was
when we were sitting like we usually did, right next to each
other with your arm around me. Taylor was in front of us. She
turned around and gave us a slightly confused look. After a
second of thinking, she said, “Are you guys going
out?” I turned to you to see what you would say, because
I honestly didn’t know what to consider us. You smiled
and squeezed my arm and said, “She’s my
baby.” The happiness I felt at that moment is something
I’ll never forget. For the first time in a year, I was
completely and totally happy.
"When you think happiness,
I hope you think my favorite black hoodie and my old faded blue
jeans. When you think Tim McGraw, I hope you think of
me."
