The
next morning I woke up pretty early; pretty each such as three
in the morning. Two reasons for this. One, the nightmares of
Katie bullying continued to haunt me and it would lemme go back to sleep. She would just bash at me
until I was completely destroyed. It sent chills down my spine
just thinking about how many times she had slapped me or
punched me or hurt me in some way. It just tortured me to no
end. And the second thing was I had to go and get everything
Bandit and I needed for the makeovers.
I sat up and looked at Bandit. I was debating if I should take
him or not. That’s when I decided not to bring him. It
would probably be a lot quicker without him just to break into
the store and make a quick dash out, plus he looked so adorable
when he was sleeping.
That’s when I left. I quickly ran down the streets,
trying to avoid any street lights, heading the CVS. I figured I
couldn’t go back to Target since that whole showdown went
down yesterday. I looked into the store, seeing no one in
there, and quickly grabbed a rock and chucked it at the glass
door. The store alarms started to sound and that’s when I
made my move. I quickly dashed into the store and looked
around. I grabbed a bunch of different types of hair dyes and a
bunch of boxes of colored contacts. I also grabbed a few
bandanas for Bandit and made a quick dash out of the
store.
After a minute or so of running I started to hear cop sirens so
I ran faster. “God please don’t let them catch
me,” I whispered as a took a quick turn into the woods. I
ran behind a tree and stopped there to catch my breath. I
looked out to where the road was and saw all of the cop cars
whizzing by. “Thank you God,” I whispered as I
started to run back to the abandoned house.
When I reached the house the sun
was starting to rise. I walked inside to see Bandit awake
and staring at me. He quickly ran at me and then tackled me
down onto the ground licking my face. I laughed a little then
pushed him off and scratched his back. “Don’t worry
Bandit, I would never leave you.”
That’s when I had to get to work. I looked through all
the colors of hair dye I chose. Black, Beach Blonde, Red,
Purple, or Brown. I decided to go with the black; it was the
farthest away from my natural dirty blonde color. That and the
fact that I didn’t want purple hair.
I went over to the mirror right before I stuck in the hair dye
and looked at myself with my dirty blonde hair. “Bye bye
dirty blonde hair,” I ran my fingers through it one last
time then went back over to the sink and put the hair dye in.
Since there was no running water in this place, I took an old
ratty towel from underneath the sink and wrapped my hair up.
While I was waiting for the hair dye to dry, I pulled out all
of the colors of contacts I had grabbed. Just like with the
hair dye, there was a lot. Hazel, Green, Dark Blue, Light Blue,
Brown, Black, and Lavender. I decided to go with the deep blue
color just because that color blue was my absolute favorite
color.
I put the contacts in and stared in the mirror. The deep blue
color made my eyes sparkle when the sunlight shown in through
the window. I smiled, happy with this color, and then decided
that the hair dye has probably been in long enough. I took down
the towel and went and brushed my hair, not wanting to look in
the mirror until I was completely done.
When I finished brushing my new black hair I took a deep breath
and closed my eyes. I stepped in front of the mirror and opened
my eyes right away. Only one word popped into my
mind.
“Wow.”
