Chapter One
"I can't believe summer's almost over," Alexis said, sighing. I agree. Summer has been great, and it was basically the last fot me. Alexis is moving to Hawaii, because her dad is a pro competitive surfer. "I'll miss you so much, Cassidy." Tears gathered in Alexis's eyes. "I'll miss you too, Alexis." Great, now my eyes are blurry from the tears. We hugged, and started to keep walking on the beach. "I still don't know what I'll do without you, Cassidy." Summer was over in about two weeks. Alexis was gone in one. "Promise me," Alexis began, "you won't become one of the populars." "I..I..I..promise." I stuttered, because that's exactly what I became.
I was the 'it' girl. The girl everyone wanted to be; the girl every guy wanted to date. "C'mon, Cassie, let's get our nails done!" Dylan squeeled with laughter. "Ok, ok." The lady, (an old Japenese lady) was a professional. I always get my nails done by professionals. Ever since my dad became a multi-millionare, my life turned from the poor; to the rich--instantly. Alexis never calls me anymore; only because she has to go out surfing in Hawaii. ƒucking bragger. My phone rings, and the picture says it's the school hottie! "Hey, babe," Nick says over the phone. "Hey, Nick. Are we still on for Breaking Dawn tonight?" I hope he doesn't cancel. Then that's like.......I can't explain it. "Yeah, of course. I have a surprise for you at the movies, come quick." He hangs up. I giggle, "Dylan, he has a surprise for me!" I finish my nails, dress, then drive to the movies in my Range Rover. Nick is waiting for me outside.
As we enter the theatre, Nick yawns, then puts his arm around mine. I kiss him, then say, "Why did you set up a movie date? I thought you hated them..." I say, worried that he might be offended. "Because, I thought we can do something else, instead..." His voice trailed off as his lips leaned into mine; I didn't stop him. His hand was on the back of my head; and a burst of energy splurged through my whole entire body.
We walk to the beach; hand in hand. He asks to go swimming. "Um, no thanks." There are two reasons why I can't. One, because it reminds me of Alexis. Two, because ever since I broke Alexis's promise, I became a Mermaid.
