Chapter 2 ( part 2 /
2)
'8:24'
The
clock read. No no no!
I'm going to be late! I quickly threw on my dark blue
skinny jeans and a crop-shirt.
I grabbed my bag and ran down stairs. "Morning,
sunshine." My dad joked.
"Why didn't you wake me?" I snapped. "Because
it's Saturday." He laughed.
I dropped my bag to the floor and sat down in the nearest
chair.
"Some boy called early this morning. Looking for you."
He announced.
"Did you get his name?" i asked. "Uhm, I think it
was Aaron or something."
"Adam?" I asked eagerly.
"Yeah that's it," he replied. "The
number's on the caller i---"
Before he could finish i rushed over to get the phone.
I called the number next to the name "Mark Klein."
"Hi, is Adam there?" i asked.
"Nope, sorry. May I ask who's calling?" A deep
voice replied.
"It's his friend, Lexi." It felt weird to say it
out loud. Friend...
"Do you know where he is?"
"Yeah, he got a call from someone and he left in a hurry.
You might be able to catch him on his cellphone."
"Okay thanks. What's the number?" He gave me the
number and i immediately dialed it.
"Adam?!" i asked.
"Lexi?! Is that you?" He replied.
"Yeah! What's going on?"
"Maya! She got out! We can't find her
anywhere!"
"I'm coming!" i threw on my shoes.
I ran to the shelter, to find Adam and Jenna calling out her
name.
"Maya!" I yelled. Adam and I decided to go further
down-town.
"Maya!" we shouted in unison.
After about half an hour of shouting, we decided to take a small
break
and grab a drink in the nearest diner. We sat by the window,
incase
there was any sign of her. "Where do you think she is?"
He asked.
"I don't know.." I sighed, and i felt my eyes
water.
"Hey, we're going to find her. It's going to work
out." That made me feel better. "I hope."
"There!" I shouted, making other people in the diner
stare.
"What?!" He asked.
"Maya! She's over there! Next to the road!"
We were about to get up, when we heard the squeal of tires.
A couple of horns sounded, and someone let out a shriek.
We were almost out the door when we heard a final crash, and then
the sounds of car alarms...
Three cars were piled up near the grocery store.
I only noticed one thing about the scene.
Maya was no longer standing
beside the road.
