One in a
Million
*Chapter One Hundred
& Fifty; Part
One*
Amber's
POV:
"Goodbye!" I
waved to Louis and
Eleanor as the drove
away in the cold, dark
night. My hand slowly
pressed the front door
shut and when I turned
around, both Niall and
Lilli were staring at
me like they were
waiting for an
explaination. "I
think it's passed
your bedtime, Little
Lady."
"Oh
please let me stay up,
Momma! You, Daddy, and
I can watch a movie
together! Like old
times? Pretty, pretty
please!" She held
her hands together and
slapped on a pair of
puppy dog eyes, trying
to persuade me.
I just
shook my head with a
firm no. "You have
to get your rest if you
think you're going
to the amusment park
tomorrow with Mickey
and Isabella." It
had just hit me that my
six year old had a more
developed social life
than I had at
sixteen.
With a
loud sigh and a slight
roll of her eyes, I got
her to follow me to her
bedroom. She changed
into her pajamas while
I laid in her tiny bed
and kept an eye on
her. I was starting to
pick out things she did
like me and Niall. For
example, she ate her
dinner like Niall, but
she crawled into bed
and settle in for the
night just like me. The
covers crowded up
around her neck as she
laid next to me.
"Where's
Miracle?" Her blue
eyes stared into mine
and melted my heart,
like they did everytime
I looked at her.
"She's with
her Daddy until Monday
evening, Angel. She
went with Liam to visit
Gran and Granpa
Payne." I stroked
her hair out of her
twisted face. How was I
expecting a child to
understand this? I felt
like such a tramp
explaining this to her;
how her and her sister
had two completely
different families.
We went
through our nightly
routine afterwards; I
sang a song of her
choice with her and
then we cuddled until
she was fast asleep. I
shut the door to her
bedroom and waltzed
quietly back out to the
living room where Niall
was watching, yet
another, football
game.
"Hey,
is she sleeping?"
He quietly shut it off
and stood up at the
sight of me leaning
against the wall. I
nodded in a casual way,
staring at his face
admirring how the low
light of the lamps
played on his face.
Every little detail of
his features were
standing out and it was
amazing to see him like
that again. "Is
everything
alright?"
"What
were you doing
earlier?" He shot
me a confused look as
he came to stand
dangerously close to my
face. "You were
rubbing my leg.
Why?"
"I
just wanted to. I just
thought I'd,
uh," In the dim
light, I could see his
eyes focus in on my
lips as he licked his.
His bottom and top lips
parted in such an
unexplainable way,
making me want him
again. As he started to
lean in, I turned and
walked towards the
kitchen.
"I
can't do that,
Niall. At least not
yet, anyway." I
stood in front of the
sink and stared at the
dirty tupperware in it;
I had some cleaning up
to do tomorrow. The
only sounds disrupting
the autumn night was
the faint hum of the
refridgeorator and the
tick of the clock,
hanging in the hall. I
heard Niall's chest
rising and falling from
behind me; I heard it
get closer and closer
and felt butterflies
arise in my
stomach.
