I
grabbed your hand and began pulling you away from the street. The
light faded behind us as we ventured deeper into the vast dark.
Shadows moved from our feet to give us this one moment, and then
we were the only thing that did not cease to exist. Your hand
slid from my neck down to the small of my back, and pulled me in
towards your sweet smelling skin. Deep breaths generated from our
shaking bodies. Your chin dropped onto my shoulder, still
breathing soft against my neck. I felt your eyelashes flutter
through my hair, and your lips twitch gently. A smile painted
itself onto my pale, cold skin. I raised my neck to look into
your eyes. They scanned my face with curiousity as I traced your
skin with my fingers. Your eyes sparkled with love, the color of
spring speckled with bits of fall. You ran a hand through my
short, tangled hair, and brought your face close to mine. I
looked up at you, prepared. Those delicate eyelids shut softly as
your lips inched towards mine. My lips reached out and greeted
yours. My arms fell to my sides, as the contact knocked my soul
out of my body. Your lips lightly touched mine again before I
completely collapsed into your arms. I wrapped my limbs around
you like a frightened young child, and began to shake. Your hands
ran up and down my back, comforting me. My mind took a few
moments to process what had just happened. Before I had even
regained my thoughts, I raised my head up to look back into those
wide open eyes, and I kissed you. Your arms reached around me,
curiously scanning my body for a place to rest. I slowly pulled
away and looked up into the sky. When I looked away from the
dark, sparkling blanket, my eyes fell onto our shadow. A friendly
shadow.
