my new policy is to be kinder to
myself. here are some lessons that got me there.
1. when you're lonely, acknowledge it. don't put
it off 'because that's not the type of person you
are'.
2. take care of yourself more. worry
about friends less. they'll care about you when you
do.
3. your mistakes don't have to be the same as everyone
else's. lose the insecurity.
4.
fighting for justice doesn't mean putting everyone down all
the time. you're allowed to enjoy your
life.
5.
shower. brush your hair. wash your face. eat well. please, you
are worth that much self-care.
6.
stop worrying about what people ten years older than you
are worrying about. you're still a kid,
idiot.
7.
don't be ashamed of your coping methods. whatever's
keeping you from killing yourself is a good
thing.
8.
being a person of colour was never a bad
thing.
9.
you're allowed to be angry about being a secondary citizen.
your feminism isn't a 'fad'; they're your
rights.
10.
yes, they're kind and sweet, and yes, it's okay if
you still don't feel the chemistry.
11.
you're allowed to leave things behind. you're allowed
to say 'i fell out of love, and i'm
sorry'.
12.
it's okay if you're still not as pretty as you wanted to
be by the time you go to university.
seriously.
13.
you don't need to prove anything to the world. the
world doesn't care. relax, kid.
14.
if they care enough, they'll still be around in a few months
when you're okay. don't freak out about
replies.
15.
stop trying to document everything. it is possible to be
an unrecorded person. really, it is. don't
worry.
16.
you have a lot more to offer than your level of
fxckability, aesthetic, achievement, and
relatability.
17.
stop trying to be perfect at everything; it makes you
mentally ill.
18. alone time isn't wasted time. your company's
a fxcking pleasure.
