Don't waste time on people who don't take the time to ask if you're okay. Everyone has insecurites, but don't let them destroy your life. Stand up for yourself because YOU ARE IMPORTANT. Your parents are just trying to help. It is okay to ask for help if you are going through something. And most importantly, people love you; both in the present and people in the future that you haven't met yet.
