- homerun part #89 the rest of the day, well more as week, went by quickly. i ate lunch with pat and his friends a lot. it was my favorite time of the day. september 26th was creeping up, which was pat's birthday. i was planning on surprising him with plain white tee's tickets, and his family was planning a surprise party for him, and of course i was in on that. it was the week after the plain white tee's concert, which would work perfectly, and he definitely wasn't expecting it. he was cleared to play in the game on friday, which he burst with excitment when he found out. we were playing our arch rivals, sedenaford. he would definitely start, and i would be a nervous wreck the whole time. "pat, are you sure you're allowed to play?" i'd asked worriedly when he told me the news. "dev, i'll be fine. " he assured me, and then kissed me, as we were walking down the hallway holding hands. "paat." i said, as he stopped in front of my 3rd period class. "have fun." he said, and with one more peck on the lips, and he walked away. tonight was the game, and he was suited up and ready. i was in the student section, and we were in a white-out. the game was a close one, with sedenaford scoring first, and it was a constant battle for the lead. pat was playing awesomely, and he was just in the zone. there were 10 seconds left with the ball on the 50 yard line, and we were losing by a touchdown. we were all so nervous, and i was extremely scared for pat. he was usually calm, so i didn't have a reason to be. they snapped the ball, and pat was back. they had chris running down the field, and another player, connor, who was a junior. connor made an awesome cut around his defender, and had him scrambling. pat saw him at that exact moment, wound up, and threw the long ball. connor tracked it down, and caught it. touchdown! we won! everyone ran out of the stands and down onto the field. we were all running and cheering and screaming in the huge mosh pit in the middle of the field. all of a sudden, we were in the middle of it. i felt huge arms grasp my waist and i turn around, and it's pat. "pat! you did it! congra" was all i got out before he put his lips to mine, rendering me speechless. i wrapped my arms around his head and everyone said. "awwwh." and he pulled away and smiled. his friends all came over with a water jug and dumped it on him, getting me soaked too. i just muffled his hair as he pressed his lips to mine. "congratulations!" i shouted up at him, and he smiled. the security guards had calmed everything down, and everyone was walking off the field, with the football team waiting. "i'll wait for you." i said, as one guard grabbed my elbow and started walking me to the exit. i walked out toward the exit, squeezing the excess water from my shirt. "dev! pat did it! they won!" blake screeched as she saw me walking towards her. she hugged me, then realized i was soaked, and we both started cracking up. then we heard the announcer yelling. "stratson just beat their rivals sedenaford. thanks to the senior quarterback, pat lickham. pat is there anything you'd like to say?" pat's voice then came over the whole stadium. "uhm no, we just played awesome." he said, out of breath. "your just coming off an injury, and how does it feel to pull this big win for the team?" the announcer screamed. "i couldn't have done it without the support of the team, definitely. yeah the coaching staff, my family, and most importantly my girlfriend, devon. i don't know where you are dev, but i love you." he said, and it got all silent. there was a huge crowd 'awh' from around me. i started to get teary eyed, and started to cry, but i yelled as loud as i could. "i love you too." "what?" he said over the microphone. the student section who was standing around me all said, "she loves you too!" and i heard a muffled giggle from the microphone. wow i did have the best boyfriend ever.

"how can you tell?" she looked at me, with big eyes. "how can I tell?" I asked, shocked. "well let’s see, remember when pat and I went on our first date, with you and Chris. Immediately you asked me what was going on, because you can tell. Blake, you would have to be an oblivious idiot to not see what you and Chris have together!" I said to her. I looked over to see ray walking our way. I turned to give him a hug, and he gave me and Blake a one armed hug, and he lifted both of us slightly off the ground. "ugh ray!" I shouted. He laughed and put us back down. "great job!" I said. "thanks!" he said, and smiled. Behind him, Chris and Rockne were walking out together. Rockne saw us, and pointed us out. Chris only had eyes for blake, but Rockne came over, and I said. "great job!" and I gave him a hug. "thanks! Pat did awesome though." He said, and then he grabbed the end of my shirt and felt it. "got a little wet? Huh?" "yea, I guess I shouldn’t stand so close to the quarterback." I giggled. "might be a good idea" he said, and someone bumped his shoulder. "I’ll see you later dev." He said, as him and ray walked away. I congratulated some other players, while I patiently waited for pat. I looked back at blake for a second, after chris left. She was smiling, I guess she was feeling better. "when are you taking pat to the plain white tee’s concert?" "next week." I confirmed. "oh, that’s gonna be fun." She said. "I know. he likes their music, so I guessed it would be fun for him to go." Blake shushed me after that, and as I turned around I saw pat walking down with Johnny, the last to get off the field. I saw many parents pat him on the back, and a few hugs. Then a bunch of other senior girls ran up and gave him hugs. I have to admit, I felt some sort of jealousy. Pat was just hugging them, but he was scanning the crowd, looking for me. I looked up, and his eyes caught mine. He brushed the girls off of him, and walked right towards me. "hey!" I said. "hey you!" he said, and I hugged him. He lifted my face up to his to kiss it. "I liked that speech." I said, and pulled away. "did you? I hoped you would." He said with a smile. Right after that, the coach, mr. kicci, walked up and said to pat, "awesome game. There’s some film I’m looking forward to watching." He then noticed me. "oh, I’m sorry. Hi, I’m guessing you must be devon." He said, and smiled. "yea, hi." I said and mimicked his smile. "I’ve heard a lot of good things about you, and not all of them from marwood and rosta. Pat can’t shutup about you at practice." He said, and winked at pat. I just giggled, and mr. kicci said after that, someone tapped his back, and excused himself from our group. I turned and looked at pat. "you talk about me at practice?" I asked, and turned red. "I’ll talk to you after I get out. I have to go change." He said, and leaned down for a kiss, as Johnny pulled him away. "keep your OWN tongue in your OWN mouth." He said as I pulled away, and Johnny had him by the jersey. I just laughed, and waved as they walked out off the field.
