Also, not all cheerleaders are or whores. Seriously how would like it if everybody decided that everyone who does soccer is a ? Don't sit there and call people you don't even know a . At every gym I've ever been at in our contract it says you can't hold hands with, kiss, hug, or basically have any physical contact with anyone of the opposite gender of you when you're in your teams uniform. Also, they coaches and owner have to be friends with you on facebook, so they can check your page to make sure you don't do anything inappropriate, post any bad pictures, or swear so you don't make a bad name for the gym. You have to get good grades, or else you will be suspended from the team, so obviously cheerleaders aren't stupid. And peaceloveSJL you obviously know NOTHING about cheerleading, there's two types of cheerleading and in fact the majority of cheerleaders do all star cheerleading and don't cheer on sidelines. Don't judge something you know nothing about. That would be like me saying that polo is really easy, and everyone who plays it is dumb, even though I don't know anything about it and I don't know anyone who plays it. Chrismis5, cheerleading is actually closer to being a sport than dance, the ONLY reason it's not considered a sport it because competitions can choose how they score teams. It has NOTHING to do with lack of physical activity. It makes me so angry that people are judging something they know nothing about and have never tried, but they complain about people who stereotype. It's so hypocritical.

I do cheerleading and it's harder than any other sport I've done. The only reason why cheerleading isn't considered a sport is because all the competitions have different scoring systems. If all competitions scored the same it WOULD be an official sport. I mean seriously if ping pong or golf are sports and you barely work out it those obviously cheerleading should be a sport. Nobody ever protests them being a sport, but they have something against cheerleading. I'm sure nobody who says it's wicked easy has tried it, and if they did, they wouldn't be able to survive one practice. Before you judge something TRY it. Go look up world cup, top gun, maryland twisters, or cheer athletics level 5 teams and tell me this isn't hard. I've done softball, basketball, soccer, gymnastics, dance, and volleyball and dance and cheerleading are by far the hardest. Why don't you try lifting 120 pound girls in the air, throwing them as high as possible, doing 5 jumps and flipping yourself over after the last one, flipping yourself over multiple times in a tumbling pass and then doing another tumbling pass, doing a wicked fast dance, running across the mat a couple times, and smiling the entire time. Or why don't you try being the one they lift up and believe me it's hard work. When I became a flyer I got abs after one month. In cheerleading you get kicked, hit, and injured all the time, and you have to suck it up and keep going. I bet if someone who did another sport fell about 5 feet and damaged a couple ligaments in their elbow, they would start to cry and sit out the rest of practice, but when that happened to me, I sucked it up and continued practicing for another half an hour. Afterwards I went to the hospital and had to wear a sling for like a week. Cheerleaders are the hardest working, most determined, and most disciplined people I know. Just because there's no Olympic cheering or dancing doesn't mean it's not difficult, or shouldn't be considered a sport. http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/Cheerleading-Champions-119227999.html <-- the competition in this video (NCA Nationals) is our Olympics.

Before you judge try it. Because they are both harder than you think. I have done soccer, cheerleading, volleyball, running, dance, gymnastics, ect and cheering and dance are really hard as well. Just because it is not an olympic sport means nothing. SO before judging please try it. You might change your mind!

cheerleading is a sprt for all you 's up there. i do alot of sports and cheerleading is by far the hardest. & dont get me wrong im good at it but its challenging. you think lifting weights for baseball or football is hard? really try having to throw a 150lb person 5 ft over your head , its not easy. before you judge it by what your hear, actullly try it and then when your complaning you'll wanna regreat everything you said.

Dance isn't nessessarily a sport. I'd say it's more of an art.
and
I don't think cheerleading should be considered a sport. All they do is act like whores on the side of games.
