the life changing person Chapter 8 I woke up with a slight hangover. I noticed someone's arms over my waist. I was confused, and turned around. Lucas. Lucas was lightly snoring, obviously sleeping. I bit my lip, and carefully removed his hand from my waist, trying not to wake him up. I got out from the bed, and went to the bathroom. Ugh. I looked horrible. Knotted hair and smeared makeup. I took a quick shower in Lucas's bathroom, and carefully made my way out. "I knew it was you." Lucas said smiling as he saw me. I jumped. "Yeah, you were sleeping." He gave me a goofy smile. "Come to practice with me today." I frowned. "Why?" "Because I have this." he said holding my box of cigarettes. No. He wouldn't stoop that low. He knows why I have to take those. "Lucas. That's not fair." I said crossing my arms. "Please? Just three hours. Then you can have it back." he said. I rolled my eyes. "Fine. Get dressed." Lucas got ready as I waited in his room. After, he drove us to the school field. We got out, and he told me to sit on the bleachers while he goes to get dressed. He came out a moment later, fully dressed in football gear. He waved to me, and I stuck my middle finger up at him. I saw him chuckle, and made his way to the field, where the rest of the football players were. Across the field, I saw a bunch of cheerleaders practicing. I saw them cheering, doing stunts, and dancing. How could someone be so energized at 8 in the morning? I sat around, watching Lucas do drills. Wait. This was my chance! I snuck away from the bleachers, and went in the locker room's. God, which one was Lucas's locker? I thought to myself. "Hey." someone said from behind. I quickly spun around, and saw a tall, blonde football player. "Oh, um, hi." I awkwardly said. "So, what are you doing in here?" he asked. Now I recognized him. He was the guy that Lucas always hung around with. I knew he was in to me, because he was scanning my body. I looked down, and noticed I was still wearing the skimpy clothes from the party last night. Normally, this would be a bad thing, but I could use to as an advantage. I smiled flirtatiously, and twirled my hair. "Nothing. I'm Harmony." He winked. "And I'm Mike." "So, listen. Do you know where Lucas's locker is?" I asked getting closer to him. He seemed to like it. He laughed. "Well, yeah. Right there." he pointed. "Aw thanks. Your a total lifesaver." I smiled, and pecked his cheek. I walked over to the locker, and opened it. I found my cigarettes on the top shelf. I smiled to myself. Victory. I casually slipped the box in my short's pockets, and walked out. "Wait, babe. Number?" Mike asked. I rolled my eyes from behind. But, I turned my smile on. "Oh, I totally forgot! Here." I said jotting down my number on his palm. "Thanks." he smiled. "No prob. Call me!" I said walking out of the locker room. It was the least I could do, right? He did help me get my cigarettes back.
the life changing person Chapter 10 We went back to the diner, and ate some food. I drank some water to get rid of the cough. After, Lucas and I decided to go back to my house. We went up to my room, and we both sat on my bed. "Harmony. Please. Quit smoking." he whispered. "Why? You know I need it." I mumbled. He held my hand. I felt a shock when our hands touched. "I care about you. Please. For me." he said playing with my fingers. I stared at our fingers, and waited a minute before speaking. "I'll try." I finally said. I looked up, and a smile spread across his face. He pulled me in, and gave me a long hug. The next morning was school. I groaned, and got in the shower. I left my hair down, and got dressed in a loose white tank with a bow on it, black shorts, black pumps, and a few accessories. As usual, I dug through my bag for my black eyeliner, and applied it all over my eyes. I waved to my mom goodbye, and went to school. "Hey." Lucas said as I walked in the front entrance. "Waiting for me?" I asked. He blushed, and said, "Uh, no. I just, um, got here." I laughed, and made my way to my locker with Lucas. "Sit with me at lunch today?" he asked smiling. I smiled back. "Why don't you sit with me?" "Maybe I will." he grinned. "Good." I said taking out a few books. "Lucas! Come here!" a few cheerleaders said from across the hall. He looked at me, and said, "Well, see you later." "Okay." I said as I watched him walk off to the peppy girls. I rolled my eyes as Aerial and Serena came up to me. "Harmony! What's your story with Lucas?" Aerial asked. "Yeah. He's the school's hottest guy." Serena said. "Nothing. We're just friends." I blushed. "Holy crap! She's blushing!" Aerial giggled. Serena laughed, and pinched my cheek as if I was a little girl. Lunch came by, and Lucas and I met at my locker. "Let's go." he smiled. We walked in the lunch room together, with all eyes turning to us. People were probably wondering, What's this freak doing with the school's quarterback? I tried not to noticed all the eyes on us, and made our way to my lunch table. "Hey man." Lucas said to Derek, Sean, and Nate. "Hi." he smiled at Aerial and Serena. Serena nudged my elbow. "He's a keeper." she whispered. "We aren't ever together." I whispered back. Part of me wished we were, though.
