I HATE when people make jokes abut abandonment or cutting/suicide/dieing in general. I was abandoned when I was 1 month old. I have been suicidal and I have actually died before, from a stroke, for five minutes at birth. I have cut before, and when kids say jokes like, "It hurts so good!" they are soooo wrong! I, for one, didn't cut because I liked it, I did to teach myself a lesson when I did something bad, and to take away the emotional pain and replace it with physical. So if you have ever made jokes like that, don't, because I don't find those jokes very funny!
