- The Sharp Knife of a Short Life... CHAPTER 24 Justin's P.O.V. After Kate and I had that, er, conversation about Alyssa, I decided to stay home and play some music. I hadn't been to the cabin in ages and I thought that maybe Kate was right about Alyssa. Alyssa called me and texted me five times, probably wondering where I was. I was at the piano, trying to write a song. Leo brought me water and a plate of grapes, but I didn't touch them. Kate asked me if I wanted to come swimming, but I told her I'd come in a few hours. Kate's mom asked if I needed anything, but I said no. I needed to finish my song. At around lunchtime, I glanced out the window to see Kate tanning in the hot sun by the lake in her bathing suit along with some guy. Suddenly, I figured out the ending to my song. The guy always gets the girl... Except the guy that doesn't know who the girl is. I ran outside in my swim trunks and jumped into the lake. "Kate!" I screamed. "Save me, I 'm drowning!" Kate rolled her eyes, but got up and dove into the water after me. She swam over to me and I held her by her legs, her body pressed against mine. I coud see her scar, small and like a caterpillar right under the edge of her swimsuit. "Are you looking at my boobs or my scar?" Kate asks. "Both." I admit. I slick my hair back and smile. Kate smiles back, excitement in her eyes. "What would you say if I told you that I kind of want to do something stupid?" Kate asked me. "I'd say that I do stupid things all the time. And that I'm in." I say. Kate smiles and puts her arms around my neck. "Let's just drive. Go anywhere. Do anything!" Kate smiles. Lots of people would be around the lake during this time of year, so we decided to drive away from the lakes. Kate and I didn't bother to put on any clothes, we just ran to the range rover. We put on our matching sunglasses. "Swag." Kate said. I took my foot off the brake and sped us out of the gates and down the road. "We're going to get in so much trouble." I say. "Who cares? This is what being a teenager is about!" Kate said. She turned on the radio and we sang, or screamed, along to the songs. "You are such a bad influence on me." I tell Kate between songs. "Well, I can't be your mom all the time, right?" Author's note: Anyone figure out what's gonna happen yet??
- The Sharp Knife of a Short Life... CHAPTER 26 Justin's P.O.V. "You okay?" I ask. "I'm totally swagtastic." Kate says. She slips her shades on and smiles. I step on the brakes and slip my shades on. "SWAG!" Kate and I scream. We get to road and head back to the cabin. We're both ready to be in huge trouble. "Leo said I got a letter from Princeton. And one from Christopher Newport. And Columbia." Kate says. I keep forgetting that Kate's going off to college and leaving me behind. "Oh. Do you think you got in? To Columbia, I mean?" I ask. Columbia wasn't far from here, the cabin. "I hope I did... I really don't know." Kate says. She's already been excepted to the University of Michigan, which is even closer to our cabin. "Well, just as long as you're not going anywhere far away from me." I say. We pull up to the gates, but they don't open for us. I roll down my window and stick my head out. "Patrick, let us in." I tell the gatekeeper. He doesn't even glance at me. "You're being locked out until further notice." Patrick says. "Excuse me?" I say in disbelief. "Let me call my mom." Kate says. She picks up my personal phone which I'd been charging in the car since somebody drove it up to meet us "Mom, let us in." Kate says. "Wait right there. We're going to come talk to you two while you're captive in the car." Kate's mom says on the other end. A moment later, Kate's parents and my mom come out of the house and stand by the gate on the inside. Kate and I stick our heads out of the window to talk to them. "What is going on?" I ask. "You two are being irresponsible and reckless. You two are all over the internet!" Kate's mom exclaims. "Already? I was sure it would take much longer than that!" Kate said. "This isn't funny, Katherine Louisa." Kate's dad says. "Oooh, he used you full name." I tease. "Justin Drew! This is serious!" Mom says. I close my mouth. "I am taking the keys to your car. You two are on house arrest." Author's note: Blown kisses... changed the color to go with my new layout!! Tee hee. Go take a look if you want. It's like 11:00 right now, so imma go to sleep. Gotta go to school. I'll right another chapter tomorrow after school. Bye my pretties!

If it wasn't for me, wanting to play basketball with her, she wouldn't be going through this. It was already four days, and she hasn't woken up. On the fifth day, I saw her eyes gently open. "Kelsey?" I called. She wasn't quite awake yet. Suddenly, doctors came rushing in, telling me I had to wait outside. I did, for a few hours. One of the doctors finally came out saying, "I understand that you're Kelsey's friend, Aaron?" "Yes," I whispered. He bit his lip. "She woke up, she's fine, but I'm afraid she has long term memory loss." "Are you serious?" I almost shouted. "I'm afraid so." I didn't meet his gaze. I couldn't. I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again. "You can go see her if you want, but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom." I walked in, trembling in horror. I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept. I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again. I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out. Instead, she looked me straight in the eyes, and whispered, "I don't know you, but I like your eyes."
