Chapter 14


I felt my mind going blank for a few minutes.
I woke up with a bunch of fast talking voices.
"Get her out of the front seat."
"The door is weld shut."
"The boy, get him. Get him now."
"Call 9 1 1."
"Get the other driver out."
In the hurry of the moment I realized that Dylan wasn't speaking.
I looked over and saw his eyes closed.
I closed my eyes and I opened them again.
I tried pinching myself, nothing worked.
"Dylan." I said, my voice garbled and quiet.
"DYLAN." I screamed shaking him.
I saw his arm and realized it was a bloody mess.
"Someone help us." I screamed loudly trying to find my phone.
I looked over and sat the fire men coming to my door.
"HELPP HIM."I screamed loudly.
I started shaking more and more before I felt myself relax and half way lose conciousness.
A few minutes later I focused and realized they were taking the top of our car.
Once it was off I felt one of them lifting me out of the car.
Dylan laid there unconciouss.
"Help him. Please." I begged to the ambulance.
They shoved me and Dylan on beds and carried us into the ambulances.
I looked over and saw the person who hit us.
I realized it was Brad.
He looked all bloody and his head was cracked open.
He was bleeding fast.
His arm looked mangled and he was unconcious.
I felt myself crying and sleeping in the car on the way to the hospital.
As we were rushed into the doors, I felt them attach IV's to my arm and put a cuff on me.
I sat there while I waited for them to bring Dylan into the room with me.
After what felt like an eternity, the doctor walked in.
"Hello Ms. Mathers. How are you feeling?" He said coming over and inspecting my face.
After he did all these test he determined my record.
"You will need a cast on your left leg, I'll need to give you stitches on your forhead and your side. You have 2 broken ribs. Surprised your not screaming in pain." he said solemly.
"What about Dylan?" I asked scared.
"Dylan should be waking up soon. He has a broken arm and cuts everywhere. But, you are very lucky. If that airbag had went off, you would not be here right now. People as small as you are considered child size. Which means you shouldn't be in the front seat of a car. Maybe it was a malfunction air bag or something, but, you are very lucky to be here right now." He ruffled my hair and made his way to get our supplies.
As my leg was being set in the cast, Dylan opened his eyes.
I reached over and I tried touching his arm.
He couldn't find his voice as he looked me in the eyes.
"I'm okay. The doctor said it could of been worse. If the airbag had gone off, I might not be here." I said smiling at him.
He breathed in quickly then said "It did go off... I stopped it from hitting you. I love you baby."
He said.
I looked down and realized the arm that was crushed was the one that he threw in front of me.
Dylan was my angel.
