- The House in the Woods ~Chapter 6~ By: Shira, aka sockmonkey317 And that's the short version of how I got to where we are today; walking through the woods, telling you my story so far. I looked around, seeing nothing other than trees and bushes. It must have been nearly 7 o'clock because the sun was starting to set and the night was getting gloomier. I wasn't sure what to do with myself... was I going to sleep in the woods the entire night? I mean, I've done it before, it wouldn't be a big deal. But I had no equipment like I normally did when I camped in the woods. No tent, no food, no sleeping bag. I decided to find a good spot to crash for the night; somewhere where I wouldn't be disturbed by an animal. I wasn't sure where I was going to find a place like that in the woods – where there could be a hungry bear practically anywhere I go. I walked for about a half hour with no hope of shelter. I sighed, and brushed the dirt off a large rock I found. I slumped down, bringing my knees to my chest so that I could fit my sweatshirt over my legs and sat in a curled up ball position. It was starting to get chilly and the sun was setting fast. I layed myself down and attempted to find a comfortable position – unlikely on such a hard rock. Oh, how I longed for a comfortable bed; I would even take a bed at the doghouse if I needed to. I guess it was too late now. I was way too far into the woods to turn back. A million thoughts raced through my head since I couldn't sleep. What's Lynn doing right now? Does she know I'm gone? Did she get back to her friend's house? Is Steph worried that I didn't come back to her house? She knew I was at the hospital with Lynn, does she think I'm still there? Would she call the cops and say I'm missing, or assume I'm taking care of myself? Where's my dad? Where's the dog? What if I don't survive this journey through the woods? I slowly drifted off into an uncomfortable sleep, hoping it would drown my frightening thoughts. But that night, I had the nightmare. Except Lynn wasn't there to wake me up, so I got a little more of it than usual. **Author's Note** This chapter's a little short... sorry! Likes, dislikes? Criticism is welcome! I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again. "You can go see her if you want, but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom." I walked in, trembling in horror. I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept. I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again. I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out.
