It's okay. I was a freshman last year. I went to a different school, I didn't know anyone there. It was so bad. Nobody else there knew anyone else because we all came from different school districts. It was the scariest thing of my life. Now I love my friends. We are like a big family. If you don't want to change, then don't. I didn't change who I was to fit in. They still accepted me anyway. I was absolutely terrified of high school. but now I'm going to be a sophmore and it's honestly so fun. there is a lot more drama but you can stay out of it. that's what I did.. and as far as changing, if you're still friends with the people who you're friends with now then you don't have to at all. the upper class men are usually really nice. & if you play sports it's even better because they protect you. they're like older siblings. don't be scared, it's do much better than middle school and you have a lot more freedom.
