chapter

The next day was
extremely hectic. Mason made me promise to text him every
minute of the day. It was hard looking for dresses with Sara
and texting at the same time. I almost ran into a mannequin
at one point.
"How about this one?" Sara said
looking annoyed.
"You can do way better! Come on, please
have some fun. We're actually going to a huge party. We
can have fun, and snoop around." I smiled, trying on a
bracelet.
I browsed through tons of aisles in this small
boutique at the Grey Oaks Mall. Maybe we should try a
different store. I confronted Sara, and we walked out.
Beep! Beep! Beep! I froze. That was the store
alarm.
"Excuse me, 'maam! It seems you've
taken this bracelet without paying for it."
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" I said
sliding the bracelet off my wrist.
"It's called stealing." she
retorted.
"I know what it's called." I
said, shooting her a dirty look. "It was a mistake,
though. Here. Take it back."
"Either way, I'm going to have to call
security. It's store policy!" she smiled and walked
away. Almost skipping to the phone.
"Well now what?" I asked Sara.
"Simple! We tell the mall security it was
an accident! You forgot to take it off, and you had no
intention of stealing it. Although, it was a cute
bracelet."
I laughed. "It won't look as
good when I'm wearing stripes. In Juvi!"
We waited a few minutes until security
arrived. What was supposed to be dress shopping went from
having fun to handcuffs. If I went to jail it would be hard
to get out until pass midnight. That's when my mom came
home. I frowned as the security man approached me.
"Hi, I just-" I started to
explain when he inturrupted me.
"I've been given orders to put
you in our public mall jail. Two hours only. Anyone eighteen
or older could bail you out earlier. Follow me, please."
a buff man, with huge muscles, wearing a t-shirt labled
security spoke. I followed him.
"Wait! I need to tell her
something!" Sara yelled from behind us.
"Sorry, no visitors." said the
security guard, as we entered the small prison. There was
only four cells. All of them were empty.
Sara pushed open the doors,
"Please, just one word!"
The security guard grabbed her arm.
"No."
"Just say it, Sara!" I yelled
from my prison cell.
"Call-" the security guard
pushed her out.
Shoot. Now I'll never know.
Then I heard a loud scream and a grunt. The doors swing
open.
"Miss, that could get you in some
serious trouble. Looks like you two will be sharing a
cell." the security guard said locking Sara in next to
me. She smiled.
"Okay, as I was saying-" she
began.
"Wait, what'd you do to
him?" I asked in shock.
"Nothing. I just kicked his
leg." she giggled.
"Oh my god! Sara! You could've
just texted me."
"Oh well! Anyways, I was going to
tell you to call your brother. It's twelve thirty.
That's probably his lunch break. And he's over
eighteen!"
"True! Wait, what do I tell him? I
stole a bracelet, can you bail me out of
jail?"
"Exactly."
"Fine." I took out my phone
and texted him. Five minutes later, my phone buzzed. The text
said, "I'll be there in half an hour. Should I bring
anything?" Psh, yeah. Sometimes he was stupid. I replied
"Yeah, some money. And your brain :P" I shut my
phone.
"He'll be here in half an
hour." I said to Sara.
