Chapter Twenty:
Evelyn's POV:

I wake up from all of the pain, all over my body. I know for a fact my leg is broken and my arm and shoulder are out of place. My right eye is swollen shut and I now have third degree burns all over my body from the last torture tool: the weldor. I am laying in my own pool of blood again, trying to keep myslef warm. I know from the days past and from all of my blood stains on the cement around me, that I can't have too much time left. A sudden light from the door startles me and I know that more hurt is on the way.
"Time for the last one princess! Then I'll have the boss come to finish you off!" the man yells.
I have learned to keep my mouth shut so I just lay here, shaking. I hear dogs barking and growling outside, scratching on the door. The man comes over and sprays something on me. I cough as the spray enters my mouth and surrounds the air around me. The dogs go wild. The man then, goes over to the door and opens it. The dogs sprint toward me, a look of hunger in their eyes. Their teeth sink into my skin and down to the bone. Their claws tear at my flesh. They bite and claw everywhere on my body. My face, my arms, my legs, anywhere they can. But I don't scream. I will not give them the satisfaction of seeing me suffer.
Finally, one of the men comes forward and pulls the two dogs away from my beaten and bloody body. I close my eyes and hope to die.
"Well, welll, well. Look at what we have here."  I hear a fimiliar voice say.
My eyes snap open to see a fimiliar face.
"M-Mr. Marcek?" I ask shocked.
"The one and only." he says proud.
"I told Chase to stay away from you, but you just had to get in the way." he yells, kicking me in the stomach.
"Why?" I croak out, as I gasp in pain.
"Well, I took care of your dad just fine. Now it is time to take care of you."
All the puzzle pieces are coming together, one by one.
"Any last words?" he asks, pulling a gun out from behind his back.
"Please..." I croak out.
"Just one little thing, and then you can kill me." I say pleading.
"What?!" he snaps.
"Can I please just have a pen and a piece of paper? Please? This is all I ask." I plead again.
He rolls his eyes and gives me them.
"Stupid teenage love." he mumbles.
I put all my strength into it.
I shed one single tear, as I write my last letter.
I seal it up and stick it in what is left of my front shorts pocket.
I look up at Mr. Marcek one last time, my eyes strong. Not one ounce of fear.
He points the gun at my chest.
"Say hi to your daddy for me." he says, pulling the trigger.
I hear sirens outside but I know its too late.
I can feel the bullet entering my chest, making my heart beat slower, and slower.
I look at the ceiling and smile, knowing that someone will find me.
And with that, my eyes close for the last time.
