Chapter 5
Avalaya
''So what's your last class?'' Jo asked, smiling. I showed her my schedule and she nodded. Honestly I hated the feeling of being mute, I didn't have an opinion when it came to most things. ''Oh cool, I've got english as well! The teacher is Mr Peet. He's awesome and super hot.'' I followed them to the english room.
''Hey, Mr Peet, this is the new girl Avalaya,'' Aaron said. My eyes widened in fear as I saw who Mr Peet was. I should've known that there would be nobody else with the last name 'Peet'.
*flashback* I was running around in my backyard, trying to get the nasty image of the human remains in that hole out of my mind. It had been exactly one day since I got home from the camping trip. After I arrived back at the camp site we continued the game of truth or dare. I continued playing around and accidentally got the ball I had been kicking over the next door neighbours fence. ''Mummy, I got the ball over the fence,'' I told her.
''Go ask Mrs Peet for it.'' I walked outside and went to my next door neighbour and knocked on the door. Mrs Peet was a really nice lady with a kid who was ten years older then me. The door opened not to reveal a plum old lady but a young man. Her son. He was the total opposite to the nice lady, he was ruthless and was in jail every month!
''Hello Avalaya,'' he said.
''H-how do you know my name?'' I demanded.
''Avalaya, we've been next door neighbours for five years, of course I know your name.''
''Can I get my ball?''
''Sure, come in.'' I followed him out into the backyard and got my ball. Before I left he grabbed hold of my wrist. I tried to wriggle out of his tight grip but he had me against the wall. ''S-stop, you're hurting me,'' I said when he put his hand around my neck.
''Say Avalaya, what did you see on that camping trip?'' he asked, a smirk playing on his face.
''Nothing,'' I lied.
''I know you saw what was in that hole and I know you know the little secret but Avalaya you're not going to say a word ever again are you?''
''N-no…''
''I will be back for you, if you ever talk again.'' I ran home. *end of flashback*
Being the stupid ten year old I was, I talked. I told my mum what he had done to me and then the next day, they came for me. They came to kill me. I looked up to the man who was one of the faces, haunting my past. ''Avalaya! What are you doing here? I never thought I'd see you again!''
''You know her?'' Aaron asked.
''Old family friend, take your seat, I want to have a word with Avalaya.'' Aaron told him I was mute and when we were alone, he smirked. ''Well haven't you been such a good girl, I'm sure he'll be proud…'' I didn't say anything; I couldn't say anything.
''That wasn't the end,'' he whispered. ''We'll be back for you.''
