An
Unforgettable Summer Chapter 1
I woke up on a beautiful sunny Friday morning. I rubbed the
sleep from my eyes and went to the bathroom to get ready for the
last day of school. I looked in the mirror and realized I was
smiling. I couldn’t wait for this day to be over. But mostly,
I couldn’t wait for summer. Once I got out of the bathroom, I
went to find my headband in my white drawer. Right when I opened
it, I saw the picture of Eli and I. We used to date, but I found
out he was cheating on me. I stared at the photo and all the
memories came back. I remembered our first kiss together, the jokes
he used to tell me, the laughs we used to share, and our hugs. My
green eyes started to tear up. I shut them and wiped the tears
away. He didn’t deserve me. He was a worthless jerk.
After those useless thoughts, I tried to think about summer. I
thought about the beach, my friends, my favorite zoo. Finally, I
became happy once again and went downstairs to eat breakfast.
“Hi mom,” I said. “Good morning honey,” She
said. After I ate my waffles, I went outside and found my friends.
“Hey!” Miley and Nicole said in unison. “Hey
Len,” Scarlet said. “Hey guys,” I said.
Throughout the whole day, I had to sign yearbooks. In some classes
we had free time, which meant we could do whatever we wanted to do.
When school was finally over everyone screamed and threw all the
papers away.
The bus took me back to my house. “Hey sista!” My
brother Jonas said. He was seventeen and I was fifteen. He was not
like most brothers. He was always nice to me and talked to me about
his girlfriend. He acted like a best friend. “Hey bro!”
I said. I went to my room and quickly changed my clothes into a
huge black shirt and gym shorts. I went downstairs after putting my
hair into a ponytail.
“Jonas, Lennon, we need to talk,” Mom said. “What
is it mom?” I asked. “Your sister called. She wanted
you guys to stay at her place for the whole summer,” Mom
explained. “I’m in!” Jonas said. “What
about you honey?” Mom asked me. “Uhh, I guess
I’ll go. I mean I haven’t seen her in a year,” I
said. Then it was the next day, and Jonas and I started to pack. I
even went shopping. My sister’s beach house was in California
so I had to look good. On Sunday, we had to go to the airport.
“Bye Mom, I’ll miss you!” I said.
“I’ll miss you too honey!” My mom said.
“Bye Daddy,” I said while giving him a big hug. He
kissed my head and Jonas and I went to our plane. I listened to
some music, read some magazines, and then I went to sleep. The next
day, we were in California. My sister’s husband David came to
pick us up. It was okay. We were close with him too. He drove us to
his house and Fiona was waiting outside. “Hey!” She
said. Jonas and I gave her a big home. I gave a big smile. I could
tell this was going to be the
best summer of my life.
