One in a
Million
*Chapter One Hundred
& Ten*
Liam's
POV:
I watched her pull out
of the driveway, and
just stood there for a
minute. Where was she
going? Once I collected
my thoughts, I rushed
around the bedroom,
trying to be quiet. My
hoodie was gone and,
obviously, so were the
keys. I slipped my feet
into some sneakers and
tip toed down the
stairs.
It was
early Christmas
morning; Lilli's
presents overflowed
from the office area
and into the hallway
leading to the front
door. As I slid my arms
into my jacket, I heard
John talking to Tina. I
wandered into the
kitchen, and to my
suprise, they were both
wide awake.
"You
heard her leave
too?" I was frozen
at the mouth of the
kitchen; they rose from
the table when they saw
me. Tina gripped her
coffee mug and shot me
a half smile.
"Where do you
think she
went?"
"She
went to my Mom and
Ryan. She's been
doing this every year
since she could drive.
It just seemed to stop
once she got serious
with you and even when
she was serious with
Niall." Her hand
ran down my arm as I
thought about my next
move.
"Can
I borrow your
car?" I started to
get panicy, and I
don't know why.
John walked over with a
cup of coffee for
me.
"You
can take my truck.
I'll go warm it up
for you and get it
ready. It's a
stubborn thing
now." It took him
roughly ten minutes to
get his truck up and
running for me. He
handed me the keys and
a took off.
I knew the
fastest way to get to
the cemetary; take the
back way passed the
Wawa in town. I drove
down Peach street and
crossed over the
railroad tracks. In the
near distance, I saw a
fimilar car totaled in
the middle of the
street. Could it
be?
I parked
next to the other
truck; a man lay
motionless inside of
it. I covered my mouth
and looked at the car
the man in the truck
must've hit in to.
I knew it was our
rental car and I held
back my tears.
"Amber?" I
whispered to my wife; I
saw her chest rising
and falling, but she
wasn't responding
to me. Lilli was in the
back seat, moaning
quietly to herself.
When I looked down, a
pool of blood was
surrounding the car.
Tears fell from my eyes
as I tried to save my
girls and my unborn
child. "Don't
worry! I'm going to
get yous
help!"
I ran as
fast as my legs would
take me through the
Wawa parking lot; I
screamed and yelled for
someone to help me.
When I busted through
the door, there was
only a handful of
people in there.
"Someone, please!
Call 911! My wife and
daughter were in an
accident back there! I
don't have my
phone,
please!"
Someone
called for
an ambulance
and I ran
back out to the
demolished car. Within
minutes, there were two
ambulances on the
scene; one for Lilli
and one for Amber.
"Sir,
you can ride with one
of us. Your daughter is
in a more stable
condition than
your wife
though." I ran
over to Lilli and
kissed her bloody
forehead; a shard of
glass peaking through a
deep wound.
"Daddy's
going with Mommy,
okay
Angel? Everything
will be okay, I
promise." I tried
to hide the hurt in my
voice as I left her in
the hands of the
paramedics. I hoppedd
into the ambulance with
Amber as they
tried to keep her
alive on the ride to
the hospital. I held on
to her left hand as
tight as I could.
"I love
you! Stay
with me, okay?
Stay with me!" I
whispered to her as the
paramedics were busy
around me, trying to
save her life.
