Chapter 15

I stared down at the outfit Lacey chose for me the night before Valentine's Day.
"Warm and comfortable." I kept reminding her as she pulled our fitted dresses from my wardrobe.
She rolled her eyes everytime I told her so.
But at the end of the night, after hours of rading my closet, Lacey chose the perfect outfit for my date with Evan.
A pair of fitted jeggings that weren't uncomfortable to walk in, and plain white tank top under a navy blue cardigan.
Was it too plain and boring for a Valentine's Day date?
Should I've worn something pink or red?
I bit my lip insecurely, as I reached over my bathroom counter for the curling iron.
Maybe curling my hair would spice up my outfit.
I began to curl my hair, noticing that I've never been so nervous about what I wear up until this day.
I cursed under my breath.
Evan, what the hell are you doing to me?
The doorbell suddenly rang, startling me.
My hand shook, making the hot curler burn my neck as I finished my last curl.
"Crap." I hissed. "I'm coming!"
I turned the curler off, as I tried to cover up my burn with makeup that Lacey let me borrow.
Even after caking the burn with makeup, it was still blotchy and noticable.
At least I looked nice, I thought to myself.
I suddenly remembered that I had a boy waiting on my front steps, as I sprinted down the stairs.
I flung the door open, giving Evan an apologetic smile.
I felt all jittery when I noticed the bouquet of red and pink roses in his hands.
I bit my lower lip, wondering why the heck I was so jumpy.
"Sorry about the wait, I had this thing with the curler, and I kind of-"
"You look beautiful." Evan spat out, a small tint of pink forming over his cheeks.
Seeing him blush only made me blush.
"T-Thanks." I stuttered, as he handed me the roses.
Evan chuckled, taking my hand. "Come on."
I followed Evan in his car, putting the flowers in the back.
He began to drive, as I licked my lips, forgetting that I put on lip balm.
"You don't have to take me out to any fancy restaurant, by the way. It's probably packed since it's Valentine's Day and all, so I'm fine with fast food or anything-"
Evan grinned, glancing over to me.
"I've never seen you this jittery. You can hardly sit still." Evan commented.
I noticed that I was squirming in my seat, as I blushed.
Was I actually nervous about going on a date with Evan?
"Right." I breathed. "Sorry about that."
"Don't be sorry." Evan muttered, a distant look in his eyes. "I think it's cute."
I bit my lower lip from smiling, as I stared out the window.
"We're here." Evan said.
