chapter
35:
"My friend over
there.." I pointed to him and everyone in the room
moved their eyes toward the single boy. "He helped me
through this."
His embarassed face gave me a faint, cute smile.
"He knows exactly what I've been through. I've
been depressed lately.
Thinking losing my brother was the end of the world. But this
is just another chapter of life.
This is my path.
This is what I'm supposed to go through before I find
happiness.
I lost my brother, but I truly didn't lose him.
I still have our memories and I know right now he's
looking down at me, proud of me right now.
And I know my friend, Adam, he's proud of me,
too.
This may be my first time realizing all of this, but I'm
even proud of myself.
I miss my brother. It's only human to miss someone
who's gone.
But I still love him, I still have him. And my life is just
continuing.
And mom, everything will be fine just like you
said.
We don't need to act like we're okay, because we
really are okay.
A new happiness is just starting."
I stopped, suprised at everything I had just said.
I didn't realize that those words actually came out of my
mouth.
But at the same time, I was completely proud of it.
The room was silent for a moment, but everyone clapped.
Everyone had a smile on their face, including my mom.
And I knew this smile wasn't acting, it was out of true
happiness.
I couldn't help but smile, too.
Then I looked at Adam who sat there, eyes interlocking with
mine,
and just from his look I knew how proud of me he truly
was.
Then he stood up and started walking over to me.
The clapping slowly stopped and my smile turned into
nerves.
Without a word he threw his arms around me and held me
tight.
Someone in the audience said "aw" and there was a
chuckle throughout the room.
But I ignored it.
"Go on a date with me." He whispered lightly into
my ear.
The rest of the room seemingly disappeared and I nodded my
head in approval.
He took my hand and walked with me back to my seat.
--------
"Bye, thanks for coming."
"I'm sorry for your loss."
"Bye, thank you."
"I'm sorry."
"Thank you for coming."
My parents constantly were saying goodbye to everyone as they
walked out the doors.
Everyone was saying sorry.
They made the mood depressing.
But, I still had a smile on my face.
Finally, everyone was gone.
My father walked over to the casket to close it until the
next wake tomorrow.
While he was gone, my mom spoke.
"I knew you would realize the truth." She smiled.
"We'll be fine. I know we will."
"I know mom, I know." I gave her a tight hug and
instead of tears of saddness,
we cried happily, knowing everything from now on would be
okay.
Hey guys! I'm sorry I havn't written in so
long.
I was so busy and by the time I wanted to keep writing I
forgot what I was going to do.
But I got a comment today that someone loved this story so I
decided to continue it.
There's only one more chapter after this, but I think it
came out as a pretty good story!
I'll try to come up with another idea soon.
But thank you all and I hope you enjoy this. :)
