A little advice for freshmen?
Stop being so darn eager and in such a rush to get to your classes. Seriously, 5 minutes is longer than you think. And half the time the teachers are late. You have time to walk.

At our school we only get about 2-3 minutes.

In our district the Freshman are at a separate school called the '9th Grade Center' that's literally right next to the main building. It's a really nice transition as opposed to being thrown in with all the other people... :L
