One in a Million
*Chapter One Hundred & Twenty-Six*
Amber's POV:
The rest of the day
followed like any other
day. While I was giving
Lilli a bath, Liam was
out in the living room
putting her new toys
together. Lilli liked
to soak in a bubble
bath for awhile, so I
just sat and talked
with her. "So did
you have a fun day,
Angel?"
"Oh yes I did! That bounce house was so much fun! Can we get one?" I had to remind her she had a room full of new things waiting for her. "I know, Mommy. Thank you for making my birthday special."
"Oh, you're welcome, Baby." She hopped out and dried off; her blonde hair, now looking a dark shade of brown, was damp and clung to her bare back. I stared into her blue eyes and started to see Niall in her. "Your father had a great tiem today too."
"I know, I was really happy he was there this year." She kicked her feet back and forth at the vanity while I brushed the knots out of her damp locks. I tucked her in and kissed her good night before creeping off to the living room to check up on Liam.
"Hey, you having fun out here?" I peaked in on him sitting on the floor and trying to put together a Barbie Dream House. We made awkward eye contact whille squiniting, showing our frustration. After a quick laugh, I decided it was time to get clean. "I'm going to take a shower and head off to bed. Meet you there?"
"Sounds good, Babe." He got up and leaned over to kiss my cheek before I left. I stripped down and climbed in the shower where I needed to debate what was going on with my once perfect life. I loved Liam with all my heart, but my attraction to Niall was unstoppable it just felt like fate was pulling us together again.
When my thirty minute long shower was over, I dried off and wandered around in my damp towel for awhile, just thinking. The teeth of my favorite comb sliced through my knots while I thought of who I could talk to; no matter who I talked to they'd be disappointed, but who would actually listen?
I pulled on my stripped, pink pajama shorts and a black and pink sports bra. A loose, grey sweat shirt hung over my body as I slipped on a pair of soft, black socks. I braided my bangs back into a messy ponytail in the center of my head. I took a moment to breath in my crazy life and comparing it to my old life.
I realized I hadn't read a good book lately so I picked up my favorite novel and settled into my comfy bed. My glasses hung on the tip of my nose as I concentrated on Henry and Amy's love story that seemed much more tragic than my own; I knew what happened, but still adored the book.
I was a little over a hundred pags into the book when the clock read nearly midnight. Since I came home from the party, I had been texting Niall, most of our texts growing pointless and stupid as the night progressed. Liam's footsteps echoed through the flat and made my body stir the sheets, a bit. I heard him go in and kiss Lilli goodnight, and then saw his fists turn the shiny knob of our door.
"Hey," He said as he shut the door behind him. He fidded with his fingers and I saw a lurid tone creep onto his face that was usually chipper, and full of life. I place my phone down on the bedside table and my book rested in my lap. "Babe, we need to talk."
