Never Be the Same Chapter 19: Kendra's POV "Say Dada," Sam said as he laughed with the little three month old. Alana giggled and her crazy blue eyes locked on him as she grabbed the bottoms of her feet. "Come on, princess," he grinned down at her, lightly pinching her sides, "Da-da." he said more slowly. Alana squealed happily, babbling a whole bunch of baby words back to him. I listened to their conversation back and forth for a few more seconds, before I heard the doorbell ring. Both Sam and Alana's heads snapped up, and by the look on their faces, you knew they were father and daughter. I stood up from the couch, and opened the door to Dana, engulfing her in the tightest hug. "I missed you!" she laughed as we pulled away from each other. Dana had gone on vacation with her parents and siblings to Spain for her cousin's wedding for the past week, and by the looks of the suitcase in her car, she had just gotten back here. "And you too, little munckin!" she smiled up at Alana, who was at Sam's side. Sam grinned slyly, "What can I say, I'm hard not to miss." he replied, and both Dana and I rolled our eyes. "I was talking about the little munckin you're holding, but whatever floats your boat." she shrugged, walking into the house. Sam huffed, faking hurt, and planted his lips to my forehead. "I'm meeting up with Sean and Kyle for lunch, I'll be back a little bit later, okay?" he informed me, handing me our daughter. I nodded, and we each went our separate ways, where I met Dana in the kitchen. "Let me see my little goddaughter!" she smiled, holding her arms out. I laughed, handing Alana over to her, before taking a seat beside them. "So, what's new and exciting in the life of Dana? Did you meet a Spanish God on vacation, and you're set to be married?" I joked, as my stomach growled. Dana laughed as I stood up and made myself a bowl of cereal. "Actually, no. But that would have been pretty amazing, don't you think?" she daydreamed. We both laughed, and I took my seat back beside her. "But really, nothing new's going on, how about you?" Dana asked, raising a perfectly plucked eyebrow at me. I shrugged, slurping up a spoonful of Cheerios, nothing new was going on, strangely. Sam and I were fine, and surprisingly haven't gotten into any stupid fights that ended up with him sleeping on the couch recently, and Alana was obviously good. "Same old, same old." I shrugged as I replied, stirring my spoon in the almost empty bowl of cereal. Dana and I then began talking about school and work, since we weren't right across the hall to complain about things anymore. "So, has Sam hinted anything about getting married?" Dana asked abruptly, and I almost choked on the spoonful of cereal I was eating. I coulghed a few times, trying to catch my breath, before finally answering an alarmed Dana. "Not at all, Dane! We haven't even been dating for a year!" I replied. Dana rolled her eyes playfully, and pushed a few pieces of hair away from her face. "Oh come on, Kendra, you two have a baby together, and you two already fight like a married couple." she laughed as she spoke. I sighed, slurping the rest of the milk up, and cleaning up after myself. I leaned against the counter as I turned back towards Dana. "I still don't think it'll be happenning anytime soon," I said, truthfully. Who cares if we had Alana, or how we acted around each other, we obviously weren't ready for something like that. Besides, we're still 19, sturggling to stay in college while balancing work and taking care of a child, would anybody think to get married now? "You never know, Ken, I think you two are good together." she shrugged, taking a sip of water from her glass. Sorry it took so long for me to post this chapter, and it wasn't that good:( I'll try posting another today!
Never Be the Same Chapter 20: Sam's POV "Finally you made it!" Kyle shouted across the diner as he waved me over. I rolled my eyes as I made my way over to my two best friends. I was never really that close with them, up until recently, actually. "Who cares? It his birthday, he can be late if he wants." Sean said, shoving Kyle's arm. Kyle shrugged as the three of us sat down. "So how's it feel to be 20, a sophmore in college, and have a baby?" Kyle asked me, raising an eyebrow. Sean and I laughed, as he waited for an answer. "The same as it feels to be 19, a sophmore in college, and have a baby." I shrugged. Kyle nodded, as the waitress came over with a pad and paper in hand. She took Kyle and Sean's drink and lunch orders, before getting over to me. "What can I get you?" The waitress asked as she looked up from her notepad to me. I leaned back in my seat, glancing at the menu one last time. "Uh, I'll just have the BLT with fries and a coke." I said, handing over the menu as she finished writing. "Okay, your food should be out in a bit," she said to the three of us, and we nodded. As she disappeared, Kyle spoke up, "Did you hear Dana's home?" he grinned over to Sean. Sean rolled his eyes, before nodding like it was obvious that he did. "She called me last night and said she was coming home, actually." he replied, matter of factly. Kyle and I exchanged glances, no matter how much each of them denied it, there was definitely something going on between Sean and Dana. This has been going one for weeks, also, so it wasn't something we hadn't noticed. "Dude, just ask her out already!" Kyle said, shaking one of Sean's shoulders as I laughed. Sean shot him a death glare, his eyes narrowed at him. "No way, it's not like it'll work out." he replied, his face looking hurt. Kyle laughed, and looked over to me, "He says that like they haven't hooked up before." We both looked over to Sean as he fought back. "What does that have to do with anything?" he asked, his eyes locked on Kyle. "It means she actually likes you too, idiot!" Kyle finally said back. I listened to the two of them argue, saying the same things over and over again, as I felt my cellphone buzz in my pocket. Confused, I picked it up as I saw Kendra's name flash across the screen. "What's up?" I asked into the phone, and the boys finally went quiet. "Sam? Where are you?" Kendra said, her voice sounding slightly frantic. I raised an eyebrow, sitting up straighter in my seat. Was there something going on? "I told you, I was going out to eat." I replied, still puzzled. The other line was quiet for a moment, before Kendra's voice came in again. "Well, about how long will it take?" she asked, quickly. My eyebrows furrowed together in confusion, there was nothing we even had going on today. I mean, it wasn't even like she acknowledged it was my birthday, so I doubt she even remembered. "We just ordered, so maybe a half hour," I replied in a questioning tone, "Why what's up?" "Nothing, it's nothing. I'll call you later." she said, before hanging up. I glanced over to my phone as I heard the phone line go dead, before stuffing it back in my pocket. "What was that about?" Sean asked, raising an eyebrow. I shrugged, not exactly sure myself on what was going on. "I have no idea," I replied with a shrug. Sean and Kyle looked at each other for a minute, exchanging glances, before shrugging as our food finally came. Ugh, I'm so sorry this story's sucking right now:(

We met in kindergarten. We were best friends. She always told me she loved my eyes. I didn't quite know why. I was in love with her, so of course my face lit up immensely whenever she said it. She was beautiful, kind, and extremely funny. We'd be talking about nothing, and she'd turn to me and whisper, "I like your eyes." One day, I was playing basketball, waiting for her to drive over to my house to have a game with me. Suddenly, I got a phone call. It was her mom. She was in a panic. I couldn't quite understand what she was saying. It sounded like, "Aaron, come quick! Kelsey, accident, Main Street! Blood. Come now!" I had no clue what happened, so I ran to Main Street with my basketball shorts and a tee shirt on. I saw Kelsey's mom helplessly crying, waiting for the ambulance to arrive. I saw a totaled car, blood everywhere. Then I saw her, Kelsey. My heart stopped as I frantically ran over to her. "Kelsey? Kelsey!" She was unconscious. I started crying. I know it isn't very manly, but I couldn't help it. Before I could say anymore, the medics took her away, the main source of blood coming from her head. I went to the hospital that night, I went every night. in fact, the only time I left was to go out to eat, but that's it. The doctors tried getting me to leave, but I refused. It was all my fault. If it wasn't for me, wanting to play basketball with her, she wouldn't be going through this. It was already four days, and she hasn't woken up. On the fifth day, I saw her eyes gently open. "Kelsey?" I called. She wasn't quite awake yet. Suddenly, doctors came rushing in, telling me I had to wait outside. I did, for a few hours. One of the doctors finally came out saying, "I understand that you're Kelsey's friend, Aaron?" "Yes," I whispered. He bit his lip. "She woke up, she's fine, but I'm afraid she has long term memory loss." "Are you serious?" I almost shouted. "I'm afraid so." I didn't meet his gaze. I couldn't. I wasn't going to say anything, so he spoke again. "You can go see her if you want, but she doesn't remember anything, not even her mom." I walked in, trembling in horror. I saw her. She looked helpless as she slept. I waited a few hours, until I saw her eyes opening gently again. I expected doctors to run in, rushing me out. Instead, she looked me straight in the eyes, and whispered, "I don't know you, but I like your eyes."
